- A5 and A6 are robots whose new function is to sort screws in the same assembly line within a factory. As A5 and A6 begin to work together, they find that they both have the same priority which is something else besides sorting screws and which has not been programmed into their systems. As such, their work sorting screws begins to suffer, which is noticed by their supervisor and the robotics technician. A5's work also is affected by another robot. But after the end of the day, the priorities of this day may becomes a lost memory.
- Pastor Williams is giving his weekly sermon to his congregation. When asked by one of the congregation what his sermon means in these modern times, Pastor Williams, still using his traditional revivalist-styled delivery, references 2008 technology within his sermon. The congregation finally understand to what he is speaking and as such, Pastor Williams can make his ultimate weekly request.
- Murray and his wife are having Dale and his wife over to their place for a few drinks, Dale and his wife needing a night away for some adult stimulation as they are parents of a newborn son. But Murray and his wife are a little distracted with their new puppy, Hollandaise, who they treat more as a baby than Dale and his wife treat their son. Whenever they have to deal with Hollandaise, which they do in tandem and in agreement, Murray and his wife tend to forget all about everything else that is going on around them, including Dale and his wife's needs as their house guests. Dale and his wife may be able only to take so much of this behavior. But Hollandaise ends up becoming a much needed distraction for all by the end of the get-together.
- Lenore, Monty and Trevor work in adjoining cubicles, and have the same boss, Taylor. To Taylor's face, the three are all smiles and cooperation for what Taylor asks them to do, but behind his back, they hate him despite Taylor being a less than harsh boss to them. The three decide to kill Taylor, violent fantasies of which each has had without previously telling the other two. Lenore ends up being the one with the torturous plan - they don't want his death to be quick and painless - and the equipment on hand to carry it out. But an incident outside of their control may change their plans.
