Editors' Picks: Our Favorite Things From the Week of April 164 of 14
Finale of the Week
After six seasons, “Girls” drew to a close with a confidence and maturity mirrored by leading lady Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham). In earlier seasons, these characters could be a frustrating watch, as they complained about their privileged lives in a way that was hard to find sympathetic or likeable. But Hannah and her “sisters” became ever-more enjoyable to spend time with, and this final season was funny, thoughtful, confident, and moving in equal measure. Dunham, who created the HBO drama, writing 41 episodes and directing 19, is to be applauded, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
