A few months ago, I wrote an article listing ten movies that – despite being well known – were difficult to find (legally) on any streaming service or even on disc. Those titles ranged from Ron Howard’s Cocoon to movies like Dawn of the Dead (the original). In the comments, many of our readers chimed in with their two cents on films they’ve found difficult to find over the years, so here are a few more challenging-to-find flicks, some of which may surprise you.
Panic Room:
The fact that David Fincher’s Panic Room has never been issued on Blu-ray blows me away. It’s been announced a few times, but a physical release never seems to happen (although you can stream it in HD pretty easily). What gives? You’d think the fact that it has Fincher’s name on it, and stars Jodie Foster, Kristen Stewart, Forest Whitaker,...

His nearly 60-year acting career started inauspiciously — with an Air Force training film — but Tom Selleck has soared since then. In a new memoir, You Never Know, the beloved Blue Bloods star looks back at his onscreen legacy. Below, we selected a few excerpts from this entertaining read. He was floored by meeting Farrah Fawcett As a young actor, Selleck booked a Western-themed 1972 commercial for Dubonnet, a wine product. His costar: Farrah Fawcett. I was introduced to my “leading lady.”It was her! I’d seen the Noxzema commercial, and it was her! Let me explain. Joe Namath did a shave-cream commercial where he gets his face caressed and is sung to by a beautiful young woman. How do I say this? I found her performance very impactful. I tried to have my grown-up-adult-been-there-before face on as she smiled, shook my hand, and said, “Hi, I’m Farrah.” Farrah couldn...

(Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Fall Guy movie.)
Yes, The Fall Guy is based on a TV series.
If you weren’t aware of that, it’s likely because you’re of a younger generation that wasn’t alive or old enough to remember the series, which hasn’t exactly re-entered the zeitgeist in the four decades since it went off the air. (An unscientific scan of social media shows more than a few folks who had no idea of the original IP.) But for moviegoers of a certain age, there are references to the series that inspire nostalgia.
The show, which aired from 1981-86, starred Lee Majors as a stuntman who moonlighted as a bounty hunter. The movie stars Ryan Gosling in the lead role, who is also a stuntman. While the movie is not an exact copy of the show, there are several ways in which the film...

Los Angeles’ iconic seaside diner Patrick’s Roadhouse at the edge of Pacific Palisades may have slung its last hash brown.
Amid a long-term lease negotiation, and after the financial battering of the pandemic, the half-century-old restaurant just off Pacific Coast Highway, known for its bright green exterior and kitsch décor, is attempting to raise $250,000 for back rent and building improvements as it holds discussions with potential new business partners about the possibility of a return.
While off the radar of industry cognoscenti in recent years, it had long been an unpretentious lure for A-listers like Johnny Carson, Sean Penn and Lucille Ball as well as execs including Jeffrey Katzenberg and onetime Paramount Pictures president Ned Tanen. Its most important Hollywood connection, though, may be its namesake: the seasoned character actor Patrick Fischler, son of the original owner Bill Fischler, who has since died.

The album that would eventually be known as Slippery When Wet was still in the planning stages when Jon and Richie Sambora were introduced to songwriter Desmond Child. During their first meeting, Child handed Jon a song title that would launch the band into the stratosphere, “You Give Love a Bad Name.” Jon’s jaw-dropping reaction predetermined the tune’s mega-success.

Robert M. Young, the adventurous director who called the shots for Edward James Olmos in The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez, Farrah Fawcett in Extremities and Tom Hulce and Ray Liotta in Dominick and Eugene, died Feb. 6, his son Andrew announced. He was 99.
After getting his start in educational and documentary films, Young also directed the 1969 Peabody-winning CBS telefilm J.T., written by Jane Wagner. Revolving around a Harlem youngster (Kevin Hooks) and an alley cat, it bowed on a Saturday afternoon and was repeated in primetime as the network preempted its most popular show, Gunsmoke.
Young also served as cinematographer, producer and co-writer with director Michael Roemer on the critically acclaimed drama Nothing But a Man (1964), featuring Ivan Dixon and jazz vocalist Abbey Lincoln as a struggling young Black couple in Alabama.

Robert M. Young, whose 70-year career included independent and studio documentaries, narrative features, and episodes of Battlestar: Galactica, died Tuesday in Los Angeles at 99. His death was confirmed in a Facebook post by his son.
Two of his films have recently been added to the Library of Congress Film Registry. They include ¡Alambrista! (1977), a film about the life of an undocumented Mexican immigrant, which won the Camera d’Or for best first film at Cannes, and The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez, (1982), one of Young’s eight films with actor Edward James Olmos. Based on a true story that inspired a corrido, it tells of a man on the run after a confrontation with police.
Both films are also part of the Criterion Collection.
Those films represented a recurring theme of Young’s career, one which showed his interest in bringing social issues to wider attention.

In December, Ryan O’Neal died due to congestive heart failure and a battle with leukemia and prostate cancer.
Only one out of four of his children was in attendance at his memorial service, where he was buried beside his late partner, Farrah Fawcett.
O’Neal’s son Griffin O’Neal, 59, claimed that he was “never invited” to the ceremony because “I’m the hated son who told the truth. Dark times in this family. Love means never having to say you’re sorry — and Ryan never did, to anyone,” he told the New York Post.
Griffin drove 2,000 miles from his home in Houston and upon his arrival he was informed that the service would not be held until after Christmas. However, it was held on Christmas Eve.
Tatum O’Neal and half-brother Redmond O’Neal were also not invited to attend the service. Patrick O’Neal was the only one of the O’Neal children in attendance.

Star of Love Story, Paper Moon and Barry Lyndon who remained a prolific screen actor despite his stormy personal life
With his blond good looks and blue eyes, Ryan O’Neal, who has died aged 82, was often cast as a callow, boy-next-door type in the 1970s films that made him internationally famous. Back then, his clean-cut onscreen image offered few clues as to the notoriety his private life would gain. But his troubled relationship with three of his children, Tatum, Griffin and Redmond, his drugtaking and a tempestuous relationship with the actor Farrah Fawcett would come to overshadow his long, fluctuating acting career.
As the well-groomed Oliver Barrett IV, a Harvard law student, he falls for Jennifer Cavalieri (Ali MacGraw), a working-class music student, in Love Story (1970). Ryan O’Neal is dead at the age of 82 after years of health struggles. His son Patrick announced the news on Instagram.
O’Neal was one of the true heartthrobs of the New Hollywood era, making many who saw him in “Love Story,” “What’s Up Doc?,” “Barry Lyndon,” and “The Driver” swoon. Another former silver screen icon has passed, with THR reporting that Ryan O’Neal, star of Love Story and Barry Lyndon, has died at 82. While his star had dimmed since his heyday, at the height of his fame, Ryan O’Neal was considered one of the biggest stars in the world. His 1970 classic Love Story, co-starring Ali McGraw, made him one of the decade’s biggest heartthrobs, and he followed it up with a couple of stone-cold classics, including a few movies by Peter Bogdanovich. His first movie with the director, What’s Up Doc, paired him for the first time with Barbra Streisand, with the two reuniting years later for The Main Event – both of which were massive hits. Probably his best movie with Bogdanovich, Paper Moon, paired him with his daughter, Tatum O’Neal, who took home an Oscar for her role in this black-and-white depression-set classic.

O’Neal was diagnosed with chronic leukemia in 2001 and with prostate cancer in 2012.
“Ryan was a very generous man who has always been there to help his loved ones for decade upon decade,” his son wrote. “My dad was 82, and lived a kick ass life. “The Brady Bunch” star Barry Williams was inspired by TV mom Florence Henderson to go on “Dancing With the Stars,” he told TheWrap in an interview last week.
Henderson, who played mom Carol Brady on the ’70s sitcom, competed in Season 11 of the ABC competition. “She was my inspiration,” he said. When asked if he thinks of the actress, who died on Nov. 24, 2016, whenever he hits the dance floor, he answered, “Yes. Every week.”
Williams visited the set in 2010 to watch Henderson rehearse and perform. “I was really taken with it,” he said. “She had always mentored me in one way or another. She knew that I had been active theatrically in a lot of musicals, and she thought this would be a great fit for me. I got the bug, and she made me promise to go for it.”

The Palm Beverly Hills has closed. Long the shorthand for industry power dining, it was for years run by Bruce Bozzi, the fourth generation in the family steakhouse business. A complicated court battle led to a 2020 sale to the hospitality firm Landry’s, whose brands include Del Frisco’s, Mastro’s and Morton’s. Below, Bozzi — husband of CAA co-chair Bryan Lourd and buzzy podcaster — sums up the storied, singular, nearly half-century run of the restaurant, which opened in West Hollywood in 1975 (where it was known for the many celebrity caricatures on the walls) and moved to Beverly Hills in 2014.

It’s been more than 20 years since Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz teamed up for 2000’s “Charlie’s Angels”, and the film’s director is revealing that he’d be open to producing a second sequel.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director McG said he’d be open to reuniting with the women for a third film — despite the failure of the 2019 big-screen reboot, starring Kristen Stewart and directed by Elizabeth Banks.
“It would take a long discussion with those three wonderful performers who I adore,” McG said of the trio.

“Yellowstone” premiered in 2018, and has led to an acclaimed TV franchise, with star Kevin Costner striking gold once again in his career as patriarch John Dutton. Fans were disappointed to learn that Costner has opted to leave “Yellowstone” with the upcoming conclusion of season five; his schedule is currently full as he has been starring in, producing, co-writing and directing “Horizon: An American Saga,” the first of a four-film western saga.
However, this isn’t the first time a star has left a series too early, leaving producers scrambling to find a solution to keep a successful series going. Tour our photo gallery featuring 27 performers who abandoned their programs.
Like Costner, other actors and actresses have left to pursue other projects. Some, like Farrah Fawcett and George Clooney, go on to successful careers in movies or with more TV. Others, like David Caruso and McLean Stevenson, regret leaving a successful show when careers flounder afterwards.

The titular character, played by Riley Keough, steps onto the low-lit stage with an acoustic guitar awkwardly strapped around her shoulders, her hair hastily done up in prairie braids, her frizz the telltale sign of a broke artist without the time or money to care about aesthetics.

“Abbott Elementary” actor Lisa Ann Walter is opening up about her journey of self-love that was kickstarted by the advice from her co-star and close friend Sheryl Lee Ralph, who helped her unlearn negative body image stigma and encouraged her to love herself.
“Sheryl was the one who said to me, ‘You talk too much trash about yourself — I know you think it’s funny. You’re gonna stop that. You are beautiful. Your body is beautiful. I don’t want to hear negative [things],'” Walter told TheWrap at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday night. “So I said, ‘Alright … that’s good advice,’ and it truly changed how I was.”
The “Abbott Elementary” star’s negative self-image can be traced back to Walter’s adolescence, when slender figures akin to Farrah Fawcett were idolized over curves. “In the 1980s, white women weren’t supposed to have a [butt],” she continued.

It's not a secret that Hollywood has a really sordid history with the way transgender characters have been presented on film. While bigoted pundits like to pretend that trans people and trans representation in entertainment is somehow a new concept, films like "Myra Breckinridge" were shocking and subverting audience expectations over half a century ago. Unlike the transgender media of our current era that often put cis men like Jared Leto, Eddie Redmayne, and Jeffrey Tambor in drag, "Myra Breckinridge" instead chose to cast Raquel Welch, an international sex symbol at the time, in the titular role.
The film was an adaptation of Gore Vidal's controversial book of the same name, a title that was equal parts bestseller and banned text. It's one of the earliest known novels to feature a protagonist who has undergone gender affirmation surgery and dissects themes of feminism, gender performance, America's unhealthy relationship with toxic masculinity,...

How many of us have tried to achieve that perfect ‘do we see someone carry off so well onscreen? Especially with television shows, we’d see week after week a perfectly well-groomed, well-styled head of hair that we envied. Audiences take this hair thing seriously, too – “Felicity” infamously took a ratings hit when Keri Russell chopped her curls off, hair salons were flooded with people trying to mimic “The Rachel” even though Jennifer Aniston herself hated it and most recently, Joe Keery from “Stranger Things” cut his mop into a bowl cut, enraging fans. One of the most iconic ever was Farrah Fawcett from her one season on “Charlie’s Angels.”
It’s fun to look back at some of the most iconic styles; hopefully this photo gallery featuring the 15 most iconic hairstyles in TV history will bring back memories and a smile.

Remember the '80s? If you've seen "Stranger Things," you definitely do. The Netflix series has spent the past six years traipsing through the decade that brought us "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," Farrah Fawcett hairstyles, and lots and lots of great music. With four seasons and multiple time jumps, it can be difficult keeping track of when the kids of Hawkins, Indiana are at any given moment. Plus, as more secrets about the town and the villains that call it home come to light, the pre-'80s past has also begun to become important.
