Deadpool and Wolverine Director Assures MCU Movie is 'Not Deadpool 3' - Main Image
Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy has clarified that the upcoming MCU movie is not considered a "Deadpool 3" project.
A lot of fans have been anticipating the release of Deadpool and Wolverine this summer since it is the Merc with a Mouth's official MCU debut and will feature appearances from several characters from the Fox X-Men franchise.
It is also considered to be the third installment in the Deadpool series given that Ryan Reynolds is continuing in the role. However, the director is not considering it as a threequel for a particular reason.

Kevin Feige Teases 'Intentionally Crude' Popcorn Bucket for Deadpool and Wolverine - Main Image
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that Deadpool and Wolverine is aiming for an "intentionally crude" design on its popcorn bucket.
Movie tie-in popcorn buckets have become a trend recently thanks to Dune: Part Two which had a design that reminded people of a certain Nsfw item and it became the subject of ridicule and memes.
Some fans have been wondering whether the upcoming MCU film will follow the trend and perhaps do its own Nsfw-esque popcorn bucket considering that Deadpool is known for his incessant joking.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be the sensation that defines the fate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The apocalyptic dread that engulfed the superhero universe and its real-life counterpart will soon stand witness to a cinematic phenomenon that will not only appreciate the true extent of the multiverse but exploit all of its strengths and quirks to deliver a box-office sensation.

However, fear begins to set in when one realizes the pitfalls of such a promising feature film from the studio that brought us Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Secret Invasion. After the post-Endgame spell almost drove Marvel into the ground, Deadpool & Wolverine stands at the murky border separating hope and despair for a fandom that once, quite literally, hero-worshipped the comic-book-movie industry before it turned into one of the most divisive and unreliable creators of all time.

The original Fox’s ‘X-Men’ film series cast is the cast that we will associate with some of the most popular Marvel characters in years to come. If you think about Storm it’s impossible not to conjure up images of Halle Berry, or associate Patric Stewart with Charles Xavier.
Famke Janssen, the actress behind the iconic Jean Grey portrayal is still the best live-action Jean Grey, despite Sophia Turner also portraying the character in the latter installments.
With ‘Deadpool 3’ release looming on the horizon and all the various rumors associated with former X-Men characters making a big comeback for Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU, it’s impossible not to wonder whether Famke will make an appearance as Jean Grey as well.
The actress herself commented on the rumors in her interview with Screengeek.

The original cast of Fox’s ‘X-Men’ films will forever be linked with some of Marvel’s most beloved characters. When you think of Storm, Halle Berry immediately comes to mind, and Patrick Stewart is synonymous with Charles Xavier. Famke Janssen, who played the iconic Jean Grey, remains the definitive live-action portrayal, even though Sophie Turner took on the role in later films.
As the release of ‘Deadpool 3’ approaches and rumors swirl about former X-Men characters returning for Deadpool’s MCU debut, fans can’t help but speculate if Famke will reprise her role as Jean Grey too.

I was never a huge fan of Jean Grey until Famke Janssen took on the role in 2000. The former Bond Girl and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos were my main reasons for going to see the movie in the first place. Remember, at this time, we only had a couple of good comic book movies, and the mutants were a considerable gamble for Fox.
Needless to say, Famke Janssen and the rest of the cast blew it out of the water. The X-Men franchise managed to carry on for over two decades with lots of spinoffs, semi-reboots, and more. So, one would think that Janssen would want to once again return to the role of the powerful telepathic.
Well, much like Vinny Jones, we’re losing another cameo. Famke Janssen has clearly stated that she won’t be reuniting with Hugh Jackman in the Fox X-Men universe and MCU.

Bill Skarsgard stars as the titular character in Roadside Attraction’s crazy red band trailer for Boy Kills World. The two-minute trailer serves up plenty of over-the-top action and set pieces, with Boy taking on dozens of enemies before finally coming face-to-face with his most formidable opponent.
The action comedy also stars Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, Yayan Ruhian, Andrew Koji, Sharlto Copley, and Famke Janssen. Bob’s Burgers‘ H. Jon Benjamin provides the inner voice of Skarsgard’s character.
“Skarsgård stars as ‘Boy’ who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless,” reads Roadside Attraction’s synopsis. “Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Ruhian) to become an instrument of death...

"R-rated Looney Tunes on acid!" Roadside Attractions has launched a new red band trailer for action movie Boy Kills World, opening in US theaters later this month. This first premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival last year in the Midnight Madness section. A dystopian fever dream action film that follows Boy, a deaf mute with a vibrant imagination. When his family is killed, he is trained by a mysterious shaman to become an instrument of death. "As he tries to parse his place in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister." The feature directorial debut of German filmmaker Moritz Mohr, adapting his own short film. Starring Bill Skarsgård as Boy, along with Jessica Rothe, Yayan Ruhian, Andrew Koji, Isaiah Mustafa, Famke Janssen, Brett Gelman, & Sharlto Copley. Plus H. Jon Benjamin as the voice in Boy's head.

Before we see It star Bill Skarsgard get revenge in The Crow remake this June, we’re going to have the chance to see him get revenge in another action thriller, Boy Kills World, which is set to reach theatres on April 26th. With that date just a few weeks away, a red band trailer for the film has arrived online – and this one is packed with positive review quotes, including a nod to the 8/10 review written by JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray! (You can read it Here.) Check it out in the embed above.
Produced by the legendary Sam Raimi, the film marks the feature directorial debut of Moritz Mohr. It was scripted by Arend Remmers (Sløborn) and Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury: The Movie). The story takes place in a bizarre, dark dystopian universe and centers on a deaf and mute character, Boy (Skarsgård), who navigates this depressing world with his otherworldly imagination.

Saying that James Marsden rose to fame as Cyclops (Scott Summers) after he starred in Fox’s 2000 flick adaptation of the mutant team, X-Men, won’t be wrong. Playing the mutant Scott Summers, who shoots intense energy beams from his eyes, Marsden made his X-Men team debut alongside Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, and Halle Berry’s Storm.
Despite being a prominent character in Marvel Comics, Cyclops’ role in the X-Men films was nevertheless greatly diminished. And he seemed so unimportant that the third installment of the series, X-Men: The Last Stand, could have done without him.

"Star Trek" is notoriously good to its actors. If a hard-working performer gets a small gig in one episode of "Star Trek," it becomes incredibly likely they'll be invited back for another. Armin Shimerman, for instance, played a talking treasure chest and a random Ferengi character on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" years before he was offered the main role of Quark on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Likewise, Tim Russ played a terrorist on the "Next Generation" episode "Starship Mine" before he became Tuvok on "Star Trek: Voyager." There are dozens of other examples. Once you're in the "Star Trek" family, you'll be a part of it for life.
According to the book "Star Trek: The Next Generation 365," by Paula M. Block and Terry J. Erdmann, actress Famke Janssen was offered a venerated spot in the Trek family ... that she turned down. Janssen appeared in the episode "The Perfect Mate" as Kamala,...

Before they were Professor Charles Xavier and Jean Grey in "X-Men," Patrick Stewart and Famke Janssen shared the screen on an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Stewart was, of course, the series lead, Enterprise-d Captain Jean-Luc Picard, while Janssen played Kamala, one of the many beautiful alien women on "Star Trek." Captain Kirk may be the famed womanizer, but Picard had his dalliances over the show's seven seasons -- Kamala included.
The episode is "The Perfect Mate," the 21st installment of the fifth season. Kamala is a Kriosian "metamorph," an empathetic being who can read their partners' feelings and adjust themselves to them. She's been betrothed to an ambassador from the neighboring world Valt, in hopes this will help end a conflict between the planets. As she travels on the Enterprise-d and works alongside Picard, they grow closer and closer.
Aired in 1992, this was Janssen's first role on television.

The Trill were first introduced in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Host". In that episode, Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) engaged in an intense love affair with a Trill super-diplomat named Odan (Franc Luz), a man whom she later discovered had a very unusual biology. It seems some members of the Trill species are joined with incredibly long-lived worm-like symbionts that are surgically implanted in their stomachs. The symbionts possess the memories and experiences of all their hosts and take over the personalities of the people they are implanted inside of. Symbionts can live through dozens of hosts in their lives.
In "The Host," Odan sported inverted v-shaped forehead ridges above his eyes and a larger, extended septum. The makeup was designed by Michael Westmore, a longtime "Next Generation" makeup artist.
It wouldn't be until "Emissary", the pilot episode of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," that Trekkies would encounter another Trill.

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Perfect Mate," the U.S.S. Enterprise-d is tasked with transporting a Kriosian ambassador (Tim O'Conner) to an arranged peace ceremony with a species called the Valtians. As a peace offering, the Kriosians aim to deliver a mysterious, eight-foot pod to the Valtians. Thanks to the meddling of some traveling Ferengi, the pod is cracked open, revealing Kamala (Famke Janssen) to have been sealed inside. Kamala was roped into an arranged marriage with the Valtian ambassador, a humanoid gift to "sweeten the deal." She was being transported in stasis.
The reason for her stasis quickly becomes clear. Lille, France — The big news at Series Mania was Warner Bros. Discovery’s European roll-out timeline for Max, announced Thursday at the climax of the Series Mania’s Lille Dialogues.
The most keenly anticipated session was nearly Series Mania’ Forum first: a Netflix showcase hosted by a confident Larry Tanz who significantly proved the only goal streamer exec to drill down on volume commitment.
Nobody was saying at Series Mania the industry is in an easy place. But signs at this year’s edition that, at least in Europe, business may be turning a corner, or at least has the corner in sight. The newest normal will be a far cry from the peak TV of old, however.
Final attendance soared to 4,200 at the Forum, an all-time record. That’s hardly surprising. “You have all the French broadcasters there, a lot of European public broadcasters, a few Scandinavian commercial channels and some platforms.

Many of us were excited about the prospect of The New Mutants a few years ago. The sales pitch of an “X-Men horror movie” sounded like a match made in heaven. As often happens, the film that was released was far more of a pillow fight than the cage match I’d hoped for.
But as we excitedly embrace the kid in us with the release of X-Men ’97 on Disney+, I couldn’t help but imagine a more adult side of that universe. What if the X-Men franchise embraced the opportunity to lean into the horror genre? I’m talking about the body horror of its mutants, the cruelness of its villains, and the potential for superhumanly violent finishers that would make Mortal Kombat blush. With all that in mind, I took a look through the original X-Men films on a horror scavenger hunt and found some pretty cool trinkets along the way.

Netflix has over 40 European productions shooting in Europe, said Larry Tanz, the streamer’s vice president of Emea Content, at Series Mania today (March 19).
This comes at a time when more European countries, such as Germany, are introducing investment obligations to ensure streamers invest in more European content.
Meanwhile, many rival streaming platforms have slowed down commissioning amid a downturn in 2024 production. Paramount+ has said it is cutting back on local originals, while Sky has stopped commissioning originals in Germany.

Netflix Emea boss Larry Tanz has criticized local quotas for “stifling creativity” and said the streamer remains “all in” while competitors “dial back.”
Speaking at Series Mania, Tanz addressed the ever-controversial conversation around quotas by calling for “greater flexibility” given how many shows Netflix is currently making around the world.
He cited the example of Spain, a nation that has obligations in place but with “flexibility” so that Netflix can make Spanish-originated films and series but then also film the likes of [big-budget UK production] Kaos in the nation.
“Our opinion is flexibility is a great way to encourage creativity and when we have constricting quota limitations it can stifle creativity,” he said. “The more flexibility we have, the more we can do.”
Recent research showed that Netflix had hit its 30% target in most countries on the continent but quotas remains a hot button topic.

Signature Entertainment have nabbed the UK rights for Moritz Mohr’s Boy Kills World, which is in UK cinemas in April. More on the film below.
Bill Skarsgård has seemingly dedicated 2024 to roles that push him to be increasingly nutty with each passing film. The Pennywise actor is set to appear in both Boy Kills World, Nosferatu and The Crow this year, all of which look positively deranged.
When the first trailer for Boy Kills World punched its way online last month, we weren’t quite sure when the film would make its UK debut. The US was confirmed to get the film on their screens on the 26th April, but no one had the UK rights secured.
As reported by Screen Daily, though, Signature Entertainment has acquired the rights to the Sam Raimi produced action flick. And what’s more, it’ll be bringing the film in UK cinemas on the 26th April,...

Bill Skarsgard stars as a deaf-mute fighting machine out for revenge in Roadside Attractions’ crazy trailer for Boy Kills World. The trailer’s loaded with action but also conveys the film’s twisted humor, captured in a clip showing a Hunger Games-ish battle to the death via breakfast cereal mascots.
In addition to Bill Skarsgard, the action comedy stars Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, Yayan Ruhian, Andrew Koji, Sharlto Copley, and Famke Janssen. Bob’s Burgers‘ H. Jon Benjamin provides the inner voice of Skarsgard’s character.
“Skarsgård stars as ‘Boy’ who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless,” reads Roadside’s synopsis. “Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman...

Coming across as a deranged mash-up of John Wick, Silent Night, The Hunger Games and… Bob's Burgers? (more on that in a moment), we were already anticipating German director Moritz Mohr's bloody and bizarre Boy Meets World. The trailer for the film just increases that feeling…
The titular "Boy" here is played by Bill Skarsgård, who as a youngster was left orphaned, deaf and mute in a post-apocalyptic world by a cruel ruling family who quell resistance to their rule by culling dissidents annually.
Trained by a mysterious shaman Yayan Ruhian in martial arts and weapons use, he becomes an instrument of vengeance, employing his skills to take down those who wronged him, teaming up with a resistance group at the same time. Oh, and did we mention he also sometimes bickers with the ghost of his rebellious younger sister?
His inner voice, meanwhile, comes courtesy of Bob's star H.

Bill Skarsgård has quickly become an actor whose very presence in a film suggests something twisted is about to go down -- that's what happens when you play a child-eating clown monster in two of the highest-grossing horror movies of all time. But where "Barbarian" cleverly used that foreknowledge to subvert audience expectations and "John Wick: Chapter 4" embraced it by casting the "It" star as the slimeball Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont, Moritz Mohr splits the difference in his feature directing debut, "Boy Kills World." Instead of casting Skarsgård as a blood-thirsty killer, the film casts him as a righteous killer in the vein of John Wick himself. And you know what? It might just work!
While it didn't exactly blow critics away last year during its premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, "Boy Kills World" still managed to garner praise for its distinct blend of bloody slapstick action and irreverent comedy.

It's official. The Marvel Cinematic Universe will welcome Deadpool into the field with this summer's "Deadpool & Wolverine." Opening July 26, 2024, the sequel will bring the unabashedly R-rated character into a larger franchise that is usually PG-13, recent official incorporation of the TV-ma Netflix shows notwithstanding.
Deadpool as a big-screen character originates with Fox's somewhat convoluted "X-Men" franchise, but it's also apart from them in significant ways. All two "Deadpool" movies include references to different stories and characters within the franchise. Even aside from that, the X-Men movie timeline is by no means clear, with different casts in different timelines of the past, present, and future. You could watch all 13 of them in order, hoping for clarity, but you may have trouble finding it. However, if all you're concerned about is what you need to know about Deadpool from his movie appearances, and maybe a little bit of Wolverine, this is the article for you.

Noted Hollywood publicist Mickey Cottrell passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 79. He was known throughout the 1990s for his advocacy of independent film, his knowledge of queer history, and his wild blowout parties. Cottrell was so well-liked in the industry, and such an outsize character, that he would occasionally appear in films. In fact, he has several dozen acting credits to his name, many of them in indie queer films. He played a corpse in John Cameron Mitchell's "Shortbus," a barfly in "The Fluffer," and a mincing French aristocrat in league with demons in "Hellraiser: Bloodline."
