Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone may be coming to an end, at least in its current form, but that doesn't mean the man isn't continuing his attempts to be known as the busiest man in Hollywood. One of the stars of an upcoming Sheridan project, Jon Hamm, has been explaining that the Texas-based series, Landman, is midway through its shoot, and has been going into detail about what exactly the show entails, as he revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. The series stars Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, and delves into a modern story that revolves around the pursuit of wealth within the oil sector.

Paul Giamatti is the everyman kind of celebrity where even though he’s an actor who has worked in big films amongst big stars, he will still go to In-N-Out Burger to celebrate an awards win. During the pandemic, when Zoom communication skyrocketed, Giamatti found a peer in Stephen Asma, an author and philosophy professor at Columbia College Chicago. Giamatti sought out the professor after being intrigued by his lectures about imagination and consciousness. He explained, “We were Zooming when Zoom was a new thing. Like everyone else during the pandemic, Paul Giamatti found solace on Zoom. The veteran actor caught an online talk presented by Stephen Asma, an author and philosophy professor at Columbia College Chicago. Giamatti liked what Asma had to say about imagination and consciousness, so he did what any well-connected fan would do and reached out.
“We were Zooming when Zoom was a new thing. It was nice to chat with this guy, and we found each other having these longer and longer chats,” says Giamatti during a rare break from his best actor Oscar campaign for his role in Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers. “Stephen jokingly said, ‘We ought to do something with this.’ ” The joke then turned serious. To craft their pitch, they sent one of their chats to visual artist Alex Sokol, who added animation and striking images to represent things they bantered about, like aliens, UFOs and bigfoot.

When it comes to corralling viewers, Taylor Sheridan is hardly all hat, no cattle. The ultra-prolific writer-director’s Yellowstone universe shows and his other Paramount+ dramas perform quite strongly, helping to heavily prop up the streamer with its 63 million subscribers. Naturally, however, some shows outpull others. Here, The Hollywood Reporter takes a closer look at all the titles Sheridan has wrangled so far and how they’ve fared during their rollouts.

Keanu Reeves has made his way through a stellar career playing nice guy, dog-loving heroes that we love to root for. From Neo in The Matrix to Jack Traven in Speed, from John Wick to Johnny Utah in Point Break, and from the titular Constantine to the legendary Ted "Theodore" Logan — one-half of the lovable thrash rockers in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure —, it's safe to say that we love to love Keanu. So, when he pops up in an outlier role in a movie that may have flown under your radar, we are ready to bring it to your attention. The year was 2000 and the film was a southern gothic offering called The Gift. It was directed by horror legend Sam Raimi, written by Billy Bob Thornton, and stars Cate Blanchett (way before she was considered an Oscar lock for every role she takes). The cast for the Billy Bob Thornton-led Landman from Taylor Sheridan on Paramount+ just added another heavy hitter to the cast.
Jon Hamm, who has been having a TV reawakening with roles on The Morning Show and Fargo and voice work on Grimsburg, has just joined the series in a recurring guest-starring role.
If you're a fan of Sheridan's productions, you know that might mean Hamm is on screen a lot or very little. Only time will tell.
Hamm's nuanced portrayal of adman Dan Draper on Mad Men put him at the top of everyone's list to work with, and he's reaping the rewards with roles that challenge his skills without pigeonholing the actor's talent.
When his name is added to a show, people pay attention, and his addition is an asset for an already stellar cast on Landman.

Taylor Sheridan’s next drama, about big oil rigs in Texas, is now filming. It’s called Landman, and Billy Bob Thornton’s going to star.
Whether he’s writing, directing, acting, producing or most of those at once, Taylor Sheridan is an indescribably busy person at the moment. Not only is he in the process of completing the fifth and final season of Yellowstone, but work is also getting underway on another gritty-sounding none-more-American TV show. Called Landman, it’ll be set in present-day West Texas, and is all about the oil business – so a bit like a less kitsch Dallas, perhaps.
With filming now underway on location in The Lone Star State, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Billy Bob Thornton has taken on a starring role in the drama. Along with his appointment comes an official description, which reads as follows:

From humble beginnings, raised without electricity in rural Arkansas, Billy Bob Thornton eventually found his way to the bright lights of Hollywood. A chance encounter and encouragement from director Billy Wilder set Thornton down a screenwriting path. This led to him co-writing what Gene Siskel called "his favorite movie of the year," the gritty drama One False Move in 1992. The same year, Thornton booked a reoccurring role on the sitcom Hearts Afire alongside the late John Ritter, whom he reunited with for several movies until Ritter's untimely death after they collaborated in Bad Santa.

Note: This story contains spoilers from the “Fargo” Season 5 finale.
As touching as Juno Temple’s role on “Fargo” may have been for fans of the FX anthology series, it’s a relationship that goes both ways. The actress described her time on Noah Hawley’s anthology series as both “terrifying” and “one of the most extraordinary experiences” of her career.
“Characters like Dot [do] not come along very often, definitely not to me. I’m eternally grateful to Noah [Hawley] for having the faith in me to play her,” Temple told TheWrap after the crime-drama’s Season 5 finale on Tuesday. “She’s made me a much, much more aware, insightful, maybe even motherly woman. Also, it was something that challenged me in a way that I want to be challenged. I want to feel terrified every day before I go to work because I want to make people proud. This job did that in spades.
