“God damn it!”
Whitney Siegel is not pleased. Already today, Emma Stone’s frustrated entrepreneur/”artist” has lost a prospective buyer, wasted precious production hours on people that won’t be included in the show, and witnessed her so-called friend make fun of her on camera, in a home Whitney designed, with the entire crew watching. Now, the fake couple Whitney is paying to pretend like they’re excited about purchasing her passive house is saying they don’t want to fake everything. Rather than be paired up with a more camera-friendly stranger, the long-haired “actor” would prefer to walk through the home with his real-life, less aesthetically pleasing partner.
That’s the last straw for Whitney, and before walking outside, plastering on her semi-permanent smile, and facing the source of her irritation, she lets out a rare expletive. “God damn it!” she shouts. Is the...

This article contains spoilers for The Curse through episode 5.
The morning after I moved into my house, I heard a thud on the back patio. And then another. And another. Three little birds were on my doorstep, but definitely not in a chilled-out Bob Marley way. They were dead. And it felt like an auspicious beginning to my family’s life in our new space.
Immediately, my mind went to The Curse, the Showtime series that follows newlyweds Asher (Nathan Fielder) and Whitney Siegel (Emma Stone), two self-styled do-good house flippers on a mission to turn old houses into passive homes. The homes are constructed to be completely energy efficient, with minimal heating or cooling systems, relying mostly on sturdy construction and extra insulation to create a thermos-like climate on the inside. The outside of the homes are Kusama-like mirrors, a design choice that might look interesting but, as a...

This post contains spoilers for this week’s episode of The Curse, which is now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime.
“It’s a Good Day” opens with two potential buyers prepping for an on-camera tour of one of Whitney’s passive homes. As is standard for The Curse, things are getting uncomfortable immediately, on both an emotional level and a physical one. The Seigels have decided — well, Whitney has decided, and Asher has gone along, because that is their power dynamic — that all buyers have to sign a letter in support of the Pueblo nation.

Some movies just don't seem to age, and "Blade Runner" is one of them. Aside from the fact that the film is one of the most influential sci-fi flicks in cinema history, thanks to the efforts of director Ridley Scott and his production designer Lawrence G. Paull, the 1982 classic remains one of the most stunningly realized films ever made. The immersive world of Scott's dystopian sci-fi gave the impression, as Christopher Nolan once put it, of a "whole world outside the frame of the scene." That's made even more impressive when you consider the production team had a limited VFX budget and constructed most of the sets and visual effects practically.
In other words, "Blade Runner" doesn't look a tad dated even more than 40 years after its debut. Alas, the same can't be said for the cast. The sad truth is that, despite Joe Russo celebrating the inevitable rise of...

On Sunday, Dean Cain walked the red carpet at the 91st Hollywood Christmas Parade – but many fans didn’t recognize him after his significant weight gain.
Dressed in a black suit with a festive pink tie, the actor caught the public’s attention due to his new portly look in contrast to his appearance in his TV role in the 90s.
Cain, 57, gained prominence through his role alongside Teri Hatcher in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, which aired on ABC from 1993 to 1997.
Cain went on to take the role of real-life detective James ‘Woody’ Woods in the film Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer in 2018. The movie was based on the true story of Kermit Gosnell, an abortion doctor from Pennsylvania who was convicted of the murder of three infants after their live births and involuntary manslaughter of a pregnant woman under his care,...

The science fiction genre continues to thrill television audiences after more than 70 years, taking viewers to different worlds and exploring far-out concepts. However, just because the genre boasts rich storytelling potential and spectacle, it is, of course, not at all immune to the dangers of a sudden cancellation. In an era when even an early renewal order can't guarantee subsequent episodes, that means some sci-fi shows end on cliffhangers, never to be given a satisfying conclusion.
With the stakes often so high for sci-fi television, that makes these unresolved plot threads all the more frustrating for fans following a series and invested in the characters. From being stranded across time and space to fan-favorite characters faced with mortal peril, these cliffhangers threaten to overshadow a show's legacy. Here are the biggest television cliffhangers in the sci-fi genre that were left unresolved by cancelations from the studios or networks producing them.

Plot: A genre-bending drama series that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring on their new HGTV show.
Review: As I write this review, I am still unsure how to process The Curse. I am a fan of everyone involved in this project, including A24 and their continuous streak of financing the strangest projects that no one else would produce. Based on the trailer, I expected The Curse to be a satire of reality DIY shows that have grown in popularity over the last twenty years. I also expected the series to blend Nathan Fielder’s signature deadpan, semi-documentary projects like Nathan For You and How To with John Wilson. Instead, The Curse is a surreal and bizarre show that defies categorization and combines elements of multiple genres, including psychological horror, to generate a narrative that defies categorization.

AnnaLynne McCord had no desire to play Naomi Clark, the uber-privileged “queen bee” of 90210’s West Beverly High. She’d just had a terrible experience during the shoot of Fired Up!, a teen sex comedy about two high school football players who go to cheerleading camp to get laid. Apparently, some of the actresses playing mean-girl cheerleaders in the film thought it best to stay in character while filming and made her life a living hell.
“I decided that I wanted to leave Hollywood and go back home,” McCord tells me.

As you’d expect, the internet went nuts recently with the news that James Gunn had found his Superman and Lois in David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. Some of the comments were from people upset that Henry Cavill wouldn’t be returning to the role after his brief cameo in Black Adam, and others were grinding their personal axes, but most seemed pretty positive about the casting.
But if you pay attention, you’d notice a theme in the responses, best captured in this Reddit post:

Rest easy, the world is safe from evil henchmen once again. After an exhaustive search, Warner Bros. and DC Studios have finally settled on a new Superman. David Corenswet will be taking on his first major leading role as the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.
Superman’s leading lady Lois Lane will be played by Rachel Brosnahan, who is coming off the final season of her Amazon hit The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Corenswet has some big tights to fill in the role that has been played by a host of actors on film and TV … and radio.
The first Superman was voiced by veteran actor Bud Collyer on the Adventures of Superman radio show that aired from 1940 to 1951. Collyer also was the voice of Superman in the animated series Superman (1941-1943) and the New Adventures of Superman (1966-1970).

Doherty had previously revealed, back in 2020, that her breast cancer had returned after first battling it in 2015 before it went into remission in 2017. As she explains in her Instagram story,

If you're a big fan of DC Comics - and the movies and TV series inspired by them - it's a bit of a confusing time. DC Studios is still planning on releasing "The Flash," "Blue Beetle," and "Aquaman 2" this year, but after that, the universe is undergoing a bit of a hard reboot under the direction of new co-chair and CEO of DC Studios James Gunn.
Gunn - who also helmed the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films for Marvel - and Peter Safran joined the company as its new leaders in November 2022, and in January, they announced a new slate of film and TV projects they're calling "chapter one" of the new DC universe. Their plans include a movie titled "Superman: Legacy," which Gunn himself will be writing and directing. But some fans have worried that means a previously announced Superman movie from Ta-Nehisi Coates and J. J. Abrams won't be happening anymore.

"Yes, the dog can text." Lionsgate has revealed a trailer for a movie called R.A.D.A.R.: The Bionic Dog, which, yes, is as bad as it sounds. This is something that would direct to the bargain bin at Walmart back in the 90s, but now it's getting a direct-to-vod release which is almost the same. A boy and his dog with bionic powers save a small town from two bumbling crooks. The mad scientist who invented the treasure-hunting dog wants to steal him back — along with the town’s famous sapphire! Can Gabe and Kylie protect the dog, guard the jewel, and save the town? Because the script is cheesy trash, you already know the answer is - yes, of course they can! The fun-for-all-ages comedy stars Dean Cain, Ezra Lerario, and Paul Wilson. Our past returns to haunt us, again and again, through documentary and documentary, until every woman mistreated by time is resurrected to have her say. It happened with Britney Spears, with Janet Jackson, with Billie Holiday and others. At the helm of this latest retrospective is Brooke Shields, in Lana Wilson’s new documentary, “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields.”
Premiering at Sundance and coming to Hulu later this year, the latest film from the director of “Miss Americana” places Shields’s multi-hyphenate career — model and actress, yes, but writer and advocate too — on display for nearly two and a half hours, eager to prove she is much more than a tabloid talking point.
Wilson’s film is named for Louis Malle’s “Pretty Baby,” in which Shields starred as a 12-year-old prostitute in this historical drama written by Polly Platt. Malle’s film was the urtext through which Shields was often...

Ah, the glory days of early 2000s television, when studios scrambled to capitalize on the success of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Friends," and "Beverly Hills, 90210." Enter The WB's "Smallville," a Superman prequel based on the blue boy's formative years, before he donned the tights, red underwear, and cape. Starring Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lane, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Sam Jones III as Pete Ross, and Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, the series offered a fun spin on the Superman story and tinkered with iconic characters in a way that made them feel fresh. Lex Luthor, for example, starts out as Clark's best friend and gradually devolves into his comic-book counterpart. At the same time, Superman regulars such as Lois Lane (Erica Durance), Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore), and Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort) were given makeovers to properly update them for the modern era; ditto...

Twice impeached former president Donald Trump teased a major announcement this week — by putting out a video showing him as a superhero. And “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon is pretty sure Ron DeSantis will reap the benefits of that.
In the video, Trump says simply “America needs a superhero,” before a graphic of him as what looks like a variation of Superman pops up. After that, the words “Major Announcement” appear on screen, and… the video ends. Given the superhero Trump chose for the video, Fallon did have a guess as to what the announcement might be.
“Is he announcing Dean Cain as his running mate?” Fallon joked. Cain, of course, played Superman himself on the TV series “Lois & Clark.”

‘God’s Not Dead': Fifth Installment in the Works at Pure Flix and Pinnacle Peak Pictures (Exclusive)
A fifth film in the “God’s Not Dead” franchise is officially a go at Pure Flix and Pinnacle Peak Pictures.
“God’s Not Dead” is slated to release in 2023, almost a decade after the first film premiered and two years after the most recent chapter debuted.
The newest installment in the popular Christian drama series will once again take place in the world of politics. According to the official description, the plot kicks off when a favored incumbent suddenly suspends his candidacy for Congress, an embittered but brilliant campaign strategist is lured out of retirement and convinces Reverend Dave Hill to run for office. The race pits them both against formidable opponents from their past, each with plans to inexorably remove religion’s influence on public policy. Set against a backdrop of unprecedented political, civil and spiritual unrest, Dave struggles to answer an increasingly relevant question of our time: Is God dead in American politics?...
