What Do We Know About Dune Prophecy? More than you may think. With the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel a critical and box office success, it is going to be several years before we see the next feature film in the series, Dune Messiah. Luckily, production on the small-screen prequel /spin-off was concurrent with Dune: Part Two which means before the end of the year we are going to return to the fictional realms of Arrakis, Geidi Prime, and more via Max.
While not much in the way of footage has made its way online, there have been quite a few reveals about Dune Prophecy, so let’s jump in and discuss.

Spoilers are ahead for Dune: Part Two.
Lady Margot, played by Léa Seydoux, is a member of the powerful Bene Gesserit order. Lady Margot's role in Dune: Part Two involves Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, as the Bene Gesserit want to secure his genetic material for their breeding program. Lady Margot becomes pregnant with the late Feyd's daughter, which has huge implications for Dune 3.
Played by Léa Seydoux (No Time to Die), Lady Margot Fenring made her debut in Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two. Although Lady Margot plays a much larger role in Prelude to Dune, she does feature in Frank Herbert's 1965 novel. The Bene Gesserit agent is crucial to Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam's (Charlotte Rampling) plot to secure the Harkonnen bloodline in the wake of House Atreides' apparent extinction. While Lady Margot's screentime in Dune: Part Two is rather limited, Seydoux makes a real impact — on both viewers and the epic saga's overall plot.

The following contains spoilers for Dune: Part Two, now playing in theaters.
When Denis Villeneuve's first Dune movie came out, fans were surprised how much it stuck to Frank Herbert's iconic novel. Of course, tweaks were made here and there. But it hewed closely to the original.
However, critical building blocks were laid down, suggesting more alterations would be forthcoming in Dune: Part Two. This does pan out as the director does adjust quite a few things to make the sequel a bit more nuanced and place his signature on it.
Chani's Tears Are Given New Meaning
Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides gets to the South of Arrakis where he undergoes a trial with the Fremen. He imbibes the Water of Life, which is bile from the Sandworm. However, he is rendered near-death for a few hours, as only women are supposed to take it to gain clairvoyance and knowledge from centuries prior.

If you were perhaps underwhelmed by the first Dune movie, Dune: Part 2 brings the real pay-off for the hype of the first. Dune: Part 2 is a true movie epic, with big name cast led by Timothée Chalamet, great special effects battles and a fight for freedom with a tense, stirring tale with competing ambitions more in the vein of “Game of Thrones” than Marvel’s straightforward good versus evil battles, with a religious prophecy mixed with space-spanning political ambitions in a fight for independence and over valuable resources. The first movie was needed to set the stage for this epic struggle but it was mere prologue compared to this massive, immersive tale that is part coming of age,...

Warning: This article contains spicy spoilers for "Dune: Part Two."
Words are everything in the story of "Dune." Empires rise and fall based on a single message sent from the desert world of Arrakis, as we see late in "Part Two" when Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) reaches through the stars to challenge the very might of the Padishah Emperor (Christopher Walken). In author Frank Herbert's massively influential 1965 novel, meanwhile, almost every chapter is preceded by short excerpts written by Princess Irulan (whom we finally meet in the sequel, played by Florence Pugh) laying out assorted sayings, family history, and other character-specific insights detailing the legend of Paul Atreides. At the very end of the book, Herbert even includes an exhaustive glossary, laying out a "Terminology of the Imperium" for readers who might have found themselves adrift at sea amid the complicated world-building, terminology, and other incredibly nerdy mythology compiled by the sci-fi writer.

This article contains major spoilers for Dune: Part Two and minor spoilers for the next book in the series, Dune: Messiah.
When the story of Dune: Part Two ends, Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides has everything you might want in the universe: the love of his life, the betrothed hand of a princess—who, for the record, is not the same woman—and the literal throne to the galaxy. There’s all that and more, so why does the second half of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of this iconic novel end on such a feeling of despair and doom?
Well, the legions of Fremen fanatics unleashing a holy war—or “jihad” as it’s called in Frank Herbert’s original text—plays a big part in that equation. As does the justifiable rage and sense of betrayal Chani (Zendaya) feels upon hearing her lover propose a political alignment with the...

Sci-fi blockbuster Dune: Part Two opens in 721 venues this weekend, carrying the hopes of many UK-Ireland cinemas after a slow start to 2024.
Denis Villeneuve’s sequel is Warner Bros’ fourth-widest opening of all time in the territory, after last year’s Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom (749) and Barbie (724), and 2022’s Elvis (746).
It is opening on 62 sites more than Dune, which started in 659 venues in October 2021. That film began with a £4.8m weekend at a £7,210 average, dethroning James Bond title No Time To Die. It went on to a £22.1m total – a decent result in a market still feeling the effects of the pandemic.

Denis Villeneuve’s long-awaited Dune: Part Two is off to a promising start at the foreign box office, where it opened to $5.2 million on Wednesday from its first 13 markets. Including previews, the running foreign tally is $7.6 million.
The Legendary and Warner Bros. film will debut in a raft of additional countries today before playing in a total of 71 territories by the weekend. France led on Wednesday with $1.4 million, followed by South Korea with $1.1 million.
Dune 2 opens everywhere in North America on Friday following Thursday evening previews. Tracking suggests it could sport a global opening of $150 million to $175 million, although Warners is being more cautious and suggests closer to $140 million. The box office could use a jump-start after a dismal early winter prompted by a slowdown of product due to strike-related delays.

Dave Bautista is done with Drax, but open to a significant, more complex role in the superhero universe if offered by Marvel or DC. His journey as Drax has concluded, but he remains a fan of the superhero universe and would consider returning for the right role. Bautista's upcoming return to Dune 2 on March 1, 2024, explores a deep storyline, showcasing his desire for richer character roles.
Marvel star Dave Bautista has reiterated that his time as Guardians of the Galaxy member, Drax, is now over...but would consider returning to the MCU in a different, “deeper” role. In an interview with Gizmodo, Bautista, who played Drax throughout the MCU beginning with the first Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014, said he “would answer the phone” if either Marvel or DC call, but would only agree to a role if it’s interesting enough.

This article contains mild spoilers from the Dune novel.
Director Denis Villeneuve faced many dilemmas when crafting the finale of his two-part Dune adaptation. Frank Herbert’s narrative is sprawling, and the climactic confrontation between Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and the forces of the Emperor (Christopher Walken) was full of landmines in terms of excessive exposition and outdated sensibilities. In fact, as last lines of a famous book go, we’re not sure if “we who carry the name of concubine—history will call us wives” would have flown for modern audiences buying tickets to this weekend’s Dune: Part Two. So it is not a spoiler to tell you Villeneuve did not include that bit of dialogue in his movie.
“No,” the director agrees when we bring up that problematic sign-off, which shifts some of the story’s strongest characters back into traditional female roles. “It’s a book...

Dune: Part Two is finally here, and movie theater operators couldn’t be happier.
After enduring one of the worst early winters in years (outside of the pandemic), theaters are banking on the Legendary and Warner Bros. tentpole to usher in a steady stream of event fare that was delayed by last year’s labor strikes. Year-to-date, the box office is running 18 percent behind last year, and more than 38 percent behind 2019.
Legendary made the difficult decision to delay the movie’s release from last fall to now so that Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya would be available to publicize the movie and help broaden out the audience. Both have sway with younger viewers.
In terms of Dune: Part Two’s potential this weekend, Warner Bros. and Legendary are being conservative in estimating a $65 million-plus domestic opening (their caution is understandable, since it runs two hours and 46 minutes). But tracking services have it reaching $74 million,...

Director Denis Villeneuve made the bold choice to focus on the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, leading to the absence of Thufir Hawat in Dune: Part Two. Thufir Hawat, a Mentat aide to Duke Leto Atreides in the first film, was cut from the sequel due to the film's focus on the Bene Gesserit. The return of familiar characters and the introduction of new Bene Gesserit characters drove the decision to exclude Thufir in Dune: Part Two.
Dune: Part Two director Denis Villeneuve explains why one character is missing in the second half. A sequel to 2021's Dune, which adapts Frank Herbert's 1965 novel, the film continues following Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he harnesses the desert power of the Fremen people to wage war against House Harkonnen. The Dune: Part Two cast also includes the return of characters played by Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, and Javier Bardem.

When “Dune: Part Two” star Stellan Skarsgård saw Austin Butler as the cruel and sadistic Feyd-Rautha for the first time, he laughed.
“I laughed so much because it was so obvious that he really enjoyed being evil,” Skarsgård told Variety at the “Dune: Part Two” premiere Sunday night in New York City.
Butler’s Feyd-Rautha is the younger nephew and heir of Skarsgård’s Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, who originally appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 sci-fi epic “Dune.” Butler studied Skarsgård’s vocal performance in the first chapter to bring his version of Feyd-Rautha to life.

Florence Pugh says the 'Dune: Part Two' memorial space felt "haunting".One of the filming locations in Denis Villeneuve's second film in his big-screen adaptation of the 1965 novels by Frank Herbert was the Brion Tomb in San Vito d'Altivole near Treviso, Italy, which is the burial ground of the Brion family, and Florence said there was an eerie atmosphere there.Asked about it being the first time a movie has been allowed to film there, she told SFX magazine: "I didn't break anything, thank god! It's a huge privilege to work with crew members that are unbelievably dedicated to their craft, and I think especially on Dune, the attention to detail with locations and sets, it's just mind-blowing - it really transports you every time you come to set. And that was my first day of shooting!"We shot in that memorial space. It really is a very haunting space.

The follow-up to 2021’s Dune: Part One, director Denis Villeneuve’s new film Dune: Part Two, continues the hero’s journey of Paul Atreides as he sets out to exact revenge on those who brought his family to ruin. What is remarkable though is that, not only is part two of the series even more compelling and beautiful than the first installment, but it also succeeds in making a forthcoming third film in the series – adapted from the book Dune Messiah (1969) by Frank Herbert – less daunting and more of a must-see event than it might have been otherwise (especially since the series was originally intended to last only two films before the first was released).

Hamilton Watches has designed a custom “Desert Watch” with the artisans of “Dune: Part Two” for the film. Although the “Desert Watch” can only be seen in Arrakis, Hamilton has also launched two limited-edition watches inspired by the prop, coinciding with the release of “Dune: Part Two.”
The collaboration between Hamilton and Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures for the prop watch was created alongside the film’s prop master Doug Harlocker, at the request of Denis Villeneuve. Guided by the world of Frank Herbert’s “Dune” and Villeneuve’s vision, Hamilton’s designers crafted a “hardwearing, distinctly Fremen device” that defies traditional watch norms. Embodying Harlocker’s artistry, the “Desert Watch” earned Villeneuve’s blessing on the final design.

Director Denis Villeneuve has mixed feelings about the sandworm popcorn bucket made for Dune 2, calling it an "impressive design." The internet is abuzz with jokes about the quirky marketing tactic, turning the sandworm popcorn bucket into a viral sensation. Villeneuve dodges taking credit for the creation, but acknowledges the fun and buzz it has generated online.
A sandworm popcorn bucket made for Dune 2 gets a mixed reaction from director Denis Villeneuve after becoming a viral sensation on the internet. The sandworms of Arrakis are an epic sight when they appear on the big screen in Dune. The internet had nothing but jokes, however, when someone decided to market the upcoming Dune sequel with a popcorn bucket whose cover is made to look like the gaping maw of one of the fantasy creatures, inviting one to shove their hand down a sandworm’s mouth in order to munch on their snack.

Actress Florence Pugh, who will be seen in award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Two’, is over the moon spending time with Academy Award-winner Christopher Walken on set.
Sharing her excitement about joining the ‘Dune’ world, Pugh said: “It was quite possibly the most thrilling welcome to a world I think I have ever experienced, and probably ever will experience. I’d always wondered if they’d ever make those huge epics again, and then ‘Dune’ came out and it truly was an epic. Joining it has been huge, and being able to walk onto the sets and being able to be a part of Denis Villeneuve’s imagination is quite an experience.”
“If Denis told me I could be Spear Carrier #3, I’d have said yes, just to experience the entire beast of this movie. Joining the cast as epic as this is always something that you want to get involved with.

Settling back into Denis Villeneuve’s exotic sci-fi world gets off to a tense start, with a sudden horns-of-Jericho blast from Hans Zimmer’s score, coupled with a stern warning onscreen: “Power over spice is power over all.” It seems a little unnecessary, since the pursuit of spice — a highly sought-after mind-bending drug — is pretty much the only constant in Frank Herbert’s novels. But it does hammer that point home, lest it get lost, since, being the second part of a trilogy, Dune: Part 2 fits the exact same interstitial slot occupied by The Two Towers in the Lord of the Rings franchise — the necessary but dramatically tantalizing middle bit that gets us to the award-sweeping climax.
