His death was announced by his daughter Gudrun Flaherty, who said in a press statement, “After a brief illness, he left us yesterday, and since then, I’ve been struggling to come to terms with this immense loss. Dad was an extraordinary man, known for his boundless heart and an unwavering passion for movies from the ’40s and ’50s. Joe Flaherty, founding member of “Sctv” and ubiquitous comic actor for decades including a stint as the Dad on “Freaks and Geeks,” has died at the age of 82, according to multiple reports.
The Pittsburgh-born performer (a rare American in the Canadian comedy sphere) got his start with the Chicago-based Second City Theater, first appearing on the “National Lampoon Radio Hour” before resettling in Toronto to become part of Second City’s core in the Great White North. He was one of the initial writer/performers on “Sctv,” a vanguard sketch comedy series co-starring John Candy, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, Catherine O’Hara, Harold Ramis (for a little while), Dave Thomas, and, later, Martin Short, that mixed parody programming with behind-the-scenes shenanigans at a low rent television station in “Mellonville.” Indeed, if “Sctv” could be said to have a main character, it would be Flaherty’s Guy Caballero, the corrupt,...

Dylan Mulvaney is dreaming big, and one of the characters she would like to play is Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.
In a recent interview, the singer and actress said that her dream theater role was to play Glinda in Wicked, but her “dream dream” was to portray the Harvard Law School student that Reese Witherspoon famously played in the 2001 film.
“My dream though is to do a trans Legally Blonde,” Mulvaney said in an interview with IMDb during SXSW. “I wanna play Elle Woods and have maybe a trans Emmett and a trans Paulette. And I think what’s so cool about plugging trans people into existing stories is it inherently changes what the topic is, but in a way that you don’t actually have to do much to the script because it becomes something different — but actually, I think it makes it even more powerful.”

If there is something positive about the existence of streaming platforms in recent times, it's the explosion of quality television series that we haven't experienced for several decades. There is something for everyone, even for TV sceptics who are not easily convinced to step out of the cinema or from what they concern as a serious screening content. Almost four years ago, during the Mastercard event at the Venice Film Festival, Brian de Palma confessed that he was hooked to the comedy-drama series “Dead To Me” starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, admitting that he was watching television more than ever before due to a big improvement in quality of productions. Liz Feldman wasn't in the audience, but I was, glad to hear that such a legend and I are sharing the same passion for the show.

The 2002 live-action movie adaptation of Scooby-Doo received negative reviews from critics upon its initial release. However, despite the criticism, the film went on to become a major box office success, grossing over $275 million worldwide. Two decades later, it has achieved cult classic status. The movie featured a talented young cast, including Freddie Prinze Jr., Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, who was still starring in the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer at the time. As Gellar told us at the time of the film’s release, she wanted to take on the role to challenge herself and bring something new to the iconic character. The Crown has covered a half-century of royal romances, and in the newly released Part 2 of the sixth and final season, it chronicles a more recent one: the courtship of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Episode 5 shows William returning to school at Eton while still grappling with the immense loss of his mother Princess Diana — but also becoming a worldwide heartthrob to millions of adoring girls. (He had bags full of fan mail waiting for him in his dorm room.) He shies away from the spotlight, though, and bristles when Charles wants him to take photos together as a happy family.

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the stakes were at a high for the trilogy. As such, it features some of the most emotional moments in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, none more so than the transformative moment when Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) witnesses the imprisonment, torture and death of his fellow test subjects. When otter Lylla (voiced by Linda Cardellini) dies, Rocket releases a curdling scream that comes straight from the gut. Now, Bradley Cooper has opened up about his own harrowing experience that was channeled in that scene.
Appearing on The Howard Stern Show, Bradley Cooper remembered watching the scene in question, saying Rocket’s scream must have come from reliving the death of his father. “In this last one…I actually cried like crazy watching it and when we did it, there’s a scene where he loses his friends and…talking about my dad…...

Old Dads is a comedy film directed by Bill Burr, who also co-wrote the film with Ben Tishler. The Netflix film follows three middle-aged men, who find themselves not fitting in the customs of the modern and often times very fragile and easily offended world. Burr’s style of comedy makes the film work as he also stars in the lead role alongside Bobby Cannavale and Bokeem Woodbine. So, if you loved the Netflix film here are some similar movies you could watch next.

You never knew exactly what you would get when "The Twilight Zone" began. The series — produced and largely written by celebrated Emmy-winning writer Rod Serling — was a loose collection of fantastical tales. Some were supernatural, some were science fiction. Some were comedies, and some were scary as hell.
It should come as little surprise that the "scary as hell" episodes are among the most memorable installments of the series. William Shatner's desperate screaming that there's a man on the wing of the plane in "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" was instantly iconic, and repeatedly remade. Agnes Moorehead silently fighting off an invading force of tiny homicidal aliens in "The Invaders" was strange and shocking, and seemingly set the stage for future "tiny monster" horror movies like "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and "Gremlins."
But perhaps no "Twilight Zone" episode is more overwhelmingly terrifying than the one about a little kid with godlike powers.

Spanning nine films in total, “The Conjuring” franchise, including “The Nun II,” is as vast as it is complex.
The story that kicked off with supernatural investigating couple Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) has since expanded into a series of “Conjuring” movies and spinoffs, all set at different points in a timeline that begins all the way back in the 1300s. The events in the three proper “Conjuring” films actually do occur in the order they were released, but the spinoffs and prequels, including “The Nun” and the “Annabelle” films, make the timeline much more complicated.
Here’s how to watch all the “Conjuring” movies in chronological order, all the way back to the Dark Ages.

With her 2022 Emmy victory for “Hacks,” Jean Smart became the seventh woman to take the Best Comedy Actress prize for both of her show’s first two seasons and, at age 70, broke her own record as the category’s oldest winner. Her history-making performance in her submitted episode, “The Click,” amounted to 21 minutes, translating to a sizable 62.31% of the roughly half-hour installment. If she were nominated for the exact same performance this year, however, she would land toward the bottom of the lineup’s screen time ranking.
Since “Hacks” has yet to return for a third season, Smart is incapable of retaining her title for a second time. The five current nominees (two of whom were bested by Smart last year) boast a screen time average of 27 minutes and 50 seconds, or 55.89% of their chosen episodes. This data was formulated using a simple definition of stand-alone screen time, which is basically...

It’s no secret that Christina Applegate is suffering these days. Her multiple sclerosis symptoms make everything difficult. As she told Vanity Fair in May, “With the disease of Ms, it’s never a good day. You just have little shitty days. People are like, ‘Well, why don’t you take more showers?’ Well, because getting in the shower is frightening. You can fall, you can slip, your legs can buckle. Especially because I have a glass shower. It’s frightening to me to get in there. There are just certain things that people take for granted in their lives that I took for granted. Going down the stairs, carrying things—you can’t do that anymore. It f-ing sucks. I can still drive my car short distances. I can bring up food to my kid. Up, never down.”
She continued, “Yeah, and gravity can just pull you down and take everything down with you.

Strangeland was one of those random bubblecase VHS horror rentals from the local video store that made you feel like you’d won the lottery. An absolute blind rental that ended up blowing your mind and making you feel like you knew something no-one else was aware of. It had it all. Scares, a kick ass metal soundtrack, the birth of internet horror and Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider (who wrote the film as well) coming off the top rope and shocking the hell out of you with one of the scariest villain performances ever.

It’s based on the true story of Brooklyn native Joe Scaravella who launched Staten Island’s Enoteca Maria. “Siren” scribe Liz Maccie wrote the script and co-developed with Madison Wells and Boat Rocker’s Matador Content.
