Harare/Bulawayo, June 16 (Ians) Former World Champions West Indies and Sri Lanka and hosts Zimbabwe went won both their warm-up matches ahead of the Icc Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Qualifier tournament with comfortable victories over the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Scotland and the USA respectively.
Netherlands and Nepal will also enter the group stages on the back of victories, with the Netherlands overcoming Ireland while Nepal beat Oman.
Powell powers West Indies to win
Rovman Powell’s rapid century helped the West Indies regain composure after they slipped to 198-7 midway through their innings against UAE.
Nicholas Pooran’s 74 had helped the Windies to a commanding position before three wickets in nine balls saw his side stutter.
But Powell combined with Keemo Paul to put on 139 for the eighth wicket, the former eventually dismissed for 105 from just 55 balls as the Windies posted 374 for nine, the Icc informed in a report on its website.

Hobart, Oct 21 (Ians) Captain Craig Ervine played a captain’s knock of 58 off 54 balls while Sikandar Raza smacked a cameo of 40 as Zimbabwe beat Scotland by five wickets in the first round of Icc Men’s T20 World Cup at Bellerive Oval to end up as winners of Group B and clinch the final Super 12 spot.
After Tendai Chatara and Richard Ngarava picked two wickets each in a clinical bowling performance to restrict Scotland to a paltry total of 132/6 in 20 overs, Zimbabwe were in trouble at 42/3 in eight overs.
But Ervine, who hit his sixth T20I fifty, and Raza shared a 64-run stand off 43 balls, followed by Milton Shumba and Ryan Burl applying finishing touches for Zimbabwe to chase down the total with nine balls to spare, continuing their good run in the tournament after featuring the last time in T20 World Cup in 2016.

Hobart, Oct 21 (Ians) Tendai Chatara and Richard Ngarava picked two wickets each in a clinical bowling performance as Zimbabwe restricted Scotland to a paltry total of 132/6 in 20 overs in final Group B match in round one of the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup at Bellerive Oval on Friday.
Scotland were unable to justify their captain Richie Berrington’s decision to bat first as none of the batters looked fluent, including their top-scorer George Munsey, who made 54 off 51 balls with seven fours.
Moreover, Zimbabwe bowlers resorted to straight lines and with spinners keeping things tight, didn’t concede a single six in the innings, the first time an instance like this was recorded in ongoing T20 World Cup.
Scotland lost their openers Michael Jones and Matthew Cross in the first 4.1 overs. Munsey, Berrington and Calum MacLeod tried their best to get the Scotland innings back on track, but they never...

Hobart, Oct 19 (Ians) Curtis Campher and George Dockrell shared an unbeaten 119-run stand for the fifth wicket in Ireland’s successful chase of 177 to seal a come-from-behind six-wicket win over Scotland in their Group B match of the first round in Icc Men’s T20 World Cup at Bellerive Oval on Wednesday.
After opener Michael Jones hit a magnificent 86 off 55 balls to carry Scotland to a massive 176/5, the bowlers came into act by reducing Ireland to 61/4 in 9.3 overs and victory looked improbable with every minute.
That’s when Campher (72 not out off 37 balls) and Dockrell (39 not out off 27 balls) joined forces to shock Scotland and get a win out of nowhere for Ireland with a brilliant partnership in just 9.3 overs and keep them in the reckoning for a Super 12 spot.

Hobart, Oct 19 (Ians) Scotland continued to impress in the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup as opener Michael Jones hit a magnificent 86 to carry the side to a massive 176/5 against Ireland in their Group B match of the first round at Bellerive Oval on Wednesday.
It was a dominant innings for Scotland, who hardly kept any foot wrong from the time of winning the toss and electing to bat first. Jones was unarguably the star of Scotland’s innings, hitting six fours and four sixes in his 55-ball 86, at a high strike-rate of 156.36.
After losing his opening partner George Munsey in the second over of the innings, Jones had to be cautious as well as adjust to the conditions. After passing through the initial phase, he then came out swinging with his array of shots, and looking delightful in hitting a majority of his boundaries through the leg-side, including one...

Hobart, Oct 17 (Ians) Just 24 hours after Namibia kick-started the Men’s T20 World Cup with a stunning 55-run win over Sri Lanka, Scotland pulled off another major upset in the tournament with a shock 42-run victory over two-time champions West Indies in a Group B first round match at the Bellerive Oval on Monday.
After opener George Munsey carried his bat throughout the innings to slam an unbeaten 66 to help Scotland post an excellent 160/5, left-arm spinner Mark Watt led a fantastic bowling show with his brilliant 3/12 to bowl out West Indies for 118 all out in 18.3 overs.
The 42-run win for Scotland, ranked 15th in men’s T20I rankings, comes exactly a year after they defeated Bangladesh by six runs in their opening first round match of 2021 T20 World Cup at Al Amerat, Oman and entering the ongoing tournament on the back of playing only two T20Is this year.

Glasgow, Sep 22 (Ians) Experienced batter Richie Berrington on Thursday was named as Scotland’s captain for the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup to be held in Australia from next month. Matt Cross will be the wicketkeeper and serve as Berrington’s deputy.
The 15-member side also includes leg-spin all-rounder Chris Greaves, who made his Scotland debut at last year’s T20 World Cup and came into limelight by scoring a match-winning 45 against Bangladesh in first round.
The squad also features the uncapped Brandon McMullen who impressed at the Regional series and A team matches with both bat and ball as a genuine all-rounder. He will provide the squad with an option to be versatile in any role. With the bat, apart from Berrington and Cross, George Munsey and Calum MacLeod will also hold the key.

Welcome to this week’s Nwa: Powerrr review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Power is back! I’m not spelling it with the dumb triple r thing. I hate the way Pumpkin Boy books the Nwa. Welcome to this week’s Nwa: Powerrr review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and this is a terrible show. You’ll see why in a second.
Match #1: Zicky Dice defeated Ricky Starks and Matt Cross – Triple Threat Match
My Opinion: 2.8 out of 5 – This went about three minutes and was starting to get good, but it got cut off at about three minutes. I’m not s——- you. This only went three minutes. Why even bother watching? What is this, 1985? Who would ever pay for a ticket to a show with a three minute match? The wrestling that did make it in to this flea-sized slit of a match was good, but you’d barely be able see any of it. This was good, but depressing.

Earlier this week, WWE announced that Tough Enough would be returning on WWE Network. While no date was given, it’s likely being planned as we speak if they were willing to mention during their latest conference call.
There have been five seasons of Tough Enough in WWE history starting in 2001. Notable names from that season included Maven, Nidia, Chris Nowinski and Josh Mathews, who is still with WWE as an announcer. The first three seasons aired on MTV. For the 4th season, they had a different format because they had the competitors traveling to Smackdown every week to compete in challenges that were aired during the show.
The most recent season of Tough Enough took place in 2011 with Andy Leavine chosen as the winner. A lot of fans didn’t like the choice because Leavine didn’t appear to be as talented as the likes of Luke Robinson...

Whilst the average cinema-goer is no doubt aware of his name, the typical movie buff is most likely familiar with some of Danny Boyle‘s work. His most successful film is Slumdog Millionaire, but he’s also done various other films in the past, including Trainspotting, Sunshine and 127 Hours. He’s not the most prolific of directors, but when he makes a film it is certainly worthy of attention.
This brings us to the recent Trance trailer. Trance, of course, is the latest film by Danny Boyle. Straight away, there are various themes and similarities that make this instantly recognizable as a ‘Boyle movie’. It can easily be argued that all of Boyle’s films have had a strong human and emotional theme. Whilst the likes of Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting are prime examples, even Sunshine focuses on the human and emotional aspects of a more unusual situation; the same goes for 127 Hours.

Trance is directed by Danny Boyle, sent out to theaters via Fox Searchlight Pictures on Also with Matt Cross, Wahab Sheikh and Danny Sapani, Trance follows fine art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy), in league with a gang led by underworld boss Franck (Cassel), plots the audacious theft of a masterpiece by Goya from a major public auction. When Simon double-crosses the gang during the robbery, Franck retaliates violently and knocks him unconscious. In the aftermath of the heist, Simon sticks stubbornly - and perhaps shrewdly - to his claim that the violent trauma has left him with no memory of where he stashed the artwork.

See James McAvoy in the new character poster for Trance, directed by Danny Boyle Joe Ahearne and John Hodge-scripted film opens in theaters on April 5th, 2013, and we have a fresh new poster for the film which also includes Rosario Dawson, Vincent Cassel, Matt Cross, Wahab Sheikh and Danny Sapani. Pic looks intriguing, and is produced by Boyle alongside Christian Colson. Naturally, with Boyle at the wheel, the same man responsible for films like Slumdog Millionaire, The Beach, Millions, 127 Hours, Trainspotting and Shallow Grave (the last two both collaborating with Hodge), Trance should have winner written all over it, but it's certainly not for everyone.

The love life of gay teenager Ian Gallagher (Gerard Kearns) on the U.K. series Shameless has never been easy. Whether it’s having to steal a bed just so he can have sex with his hot new boyfriend (somehow landing in prison because of it), trying to keep his ongoing affair with a married man a secret, or that fling with a homophobic drug dealer who has a strange sexual quirk (big surprise), something always comes along to make finding love (or just getting laid) a trying ordeal for poor Ian.
