With multiple Godzilla movies and T.V. shows dropping this year, it might be tricky for fans to track them all. Here is a guide that can help! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
On November 3, 2023, Toho Studios released what many consider to be one of the best Godzilla films in recent times — “Godzilla Minus One.” Then, Legendary Pictures came out with their first live-action series featuring the not-so-gentle giant in “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” on November 17, 2023. They had also recently created an animated series based on King Kong called “Skull Island” on June 22, 2023.
With that being said — 2023 was Godzilla’s year, without a doubt! However, there’s a big difference between the Godzilla movies from Toho Studios and Legendary Pictures. Simply put, Toho owns Godzilla. However, Legendary Pictures secured the rights to the giant 500-ft lizard and other monsters in the Kaiju universe in 2014, ultimately coming up with a ‘Hollywood’ version known as the MonsterVerse.

The most popular depictions of gangsters all have a unique trait to them to make them stand out. While out-and-out violence can get viewers hiding behind their sofas, oftentimes, the subtle evil characteristics of a Mafia boss are enough to make them memorable. Mark Wahlberg has admitted he wasn’t entirely happy while filming Martin Scorsese’s 2006 film The Departed.
Wahlberg played Sergeant Dignam, who worked in the Special Investigation Unit of the Massachusetts State Police Department, in the Boston-set film, which also starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin and Vera Farmiga, among others.
“I was a little pissed about a couple things but look, it all worked out in the end, I think,” Wahlberg said on the March 14 episode of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast.
“Originally I was supposed to play another part. Originally, I was supposed to get paid,” he said, without elaborating. “And then even when we kind of agreed that I would play Dignam and I saw the advantages of playing that part and how I would approach the situation with everybody else playing opposite me, I then had another movie after.

Millie Bobby Brown is not confirmed to return for Godzilla X Kong, signaling a shift towards focusing on other human characters in the Monsterverse franchise. Madison's absence opens the door for Kong's storyline to take center stage in The New Empire, potentially making Jia the new main human character. While Madison may not return for the upcoming sequel, there's still a possibility for her to come back in a future Monsterverse movie tied to Godzilla.
All signs point to Millie Bobby Brown not returning for Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. The fifth installment of the Monsterverse franchise is a direct sequel to 2021's Godzilla vs. Kong, which featured a big ensemble of human characters opposite the two titular Titans. No one ever said loving people is easy. Each person comes with their own set of challenges and unpredictabilities. Patience, tolerance, and understanding are crucial for a meaningful and beneficial bond. If you’re willing to go the distance for someone you love, the rewards can be worth every moment of frustration, heartache, and pain. Today, Bleecker Street debuted a trailer for the studio’s comedic family drama, Ezra, a touching story about fathers and sons going above and beyond the call of duty to find balance in a world designed to judge and persecute.
Ezra follows Max Bernal (Bobby Cannavale), a stand-up comedian living with his father (Robert De Niro) while struggling to co-parent his autistic son Ezra (introducing William Fitzgerald) with his ex-wife (Rose Byrne). Bobby Cannavale Is a Stand-up Comic with an Autistic Son, a Road Trip, and a Dream in ‘Ezra’ Trailer
Bobby Cannavale has been passed over at the Comedy Cellar, but if he doesn’t get his act together — and we don’t mean his stand-up act — life itself will pass him by.
Bleecker Street released the trailer for its upcoming feature film “Ezra” on Wednesday, March 13, which in addition to Cannavale stars Rose Byrne, Vera Farmiga, Whoopi Goldberg, Rainn Wilson, Tony Goldwyn, and newcomer William A. Fitzgerald, and Robert De Niro. Pretty good cast there.
“Ezra” follows Max Bernal (Cannavale), a stand-up comedian living with his father (De Niro) while struggling to co-parent his autistic son Ezra (Fitzgerald) with ex-wife (Rose Byrne). Cannavale is broke — the living with dad part probably gave that away — and “still not over” Byrne.
Max gets his potential big break when invited to do a late-night set for Jimmy Kimmel. (Unclear if it’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in the “Ezra” Cinematic Universe.) One problem:...

The general public isn't always the best at accepting the reality that child stars and teen idols eventually do grow up, struggling to see them as anything but their most memorable role during adolescence. But a trend has emerged in recent years, where the stars of massive teen franchises are getting the chance to grow. People have stopped making "Twilight" jokes about the Academy Award-nominated Kristen Stewart and "The Batman" star Robert Pattinson, while Zac Efron's turn in "The Iron Claw" had people campaigning on his behalf for an Oscar. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lawrence completed "The Hunger Games" and became the second-youngest person to ever win the Oscar for Best Actress, with all three main stars of the "Harry Potter" franchise having gone on to great success in other roles.

The Conjuring: Last Rites will be the final chapter in the main Conjuring series, potentially featuring iconic enemies like Valak and the Annabelle doll. Judy Warren's growth and potential return in the final film could provide continuity and bridge the story to Annabelle Comes Home. The film may focus on the Warrens training new demonologists and address the fates of allies like Mary Ellen and Drew Thomas.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is the fourth (and seemingly final) chapter in The Conjuring series, meaning the pressure is on to end the Warrens' story in a satisfying way. It’s been ten years since James Wan first introduced the world to The Conjuring. The film followed the misadventures of Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) in the 1970s, a pair of paranormal investigators and demonologists who inspect a secluded farmhouse where a supernatural presence has made itself known. The star-studded horror film was a huge hit with fans and critics. It started an entire universe that features numerous spin-offs and sequels throughout the years. The Conjuring has spawned three films following the popular Ed and Lorraine Warren. The series has always had a set of complex themes...

The Conjuring 4 could push the franchise past $1 billion at the box office, joining the ranks of most profitable horror films. The main Conjuring series has already made over $800 million globally, with the potential to surpass this milestone with the next installment. The success of The Conjuring Universe makes it the highest-grossing horror franchise, setting the stage for a landmark achievement with the upcoming sequel.
The Conjuring 4 is set to be the end of the main film series, and there's a strong possibility the upcoming sequel will pass a significant box office milestone for the horror franchise. Though the movie will serve as the fourth movie in the primary Conjuring series, it will mark the tenth installment in The Conjuring Universe (if including The Curse of La Llorona). Launched in 2013 with James Wan's The Conjuring, the franchise's main focus heavily follows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, while the spinoffs...

One of the most successful cinematic universes in Hollywood doesn't have any superheroes, isn't set in outer space, and wasn't originally designed as a cinematic universe at all. James Wan's 2013 horror movie "The Conjuring" was made on a budget of just $20 million but became a stunning box office success, grossing more than $320 million worldwide. That success has since spawned a whole world of horror that includes not only two "Conjuring" sequels, but also the spin-off "Annabelle" trilogy, two "Nun" movies, and (tenuously) "The Curse of La Llorona."
A big part of what makes the "Conjuring" movies so frightening is their commitment to practical effects. The strangest supernatural feats are achieved using wire work, contortionists, and stunt performers, while monsters like the Nun and the Crooked Man are real actors in make-up.

The Conjuring 4 has found its director after a long wait, confirming it as the last mainline film in the franchise. Michael Chaves will be directing the upcoming horror sequel, and sources have confirmed that it will be the final installment in The Conjuring Universe. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are expected to return for the movie, which is set to start filming in Summer 2024.
After nearly three years of waiting, The Conjuring 4 has finally found its director and confirmed itself to be the last mainline movie in the franchise. Created by James Wan, the hit horror franchise has largely revolved around the various cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life married paranormal investigators played by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson in the mainline movies and spinoffs. It was confirmed in late 2022 that a fourth Conjuring movie was in development with original screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick returning, though no director had been set.

New Line’s The Conjuring movie series is coming back for one last ride. Or one last rite, as it were.
The project, operating currently under the simple title of The Conjuring 4, has been in the works since early last year but has finally landed on a director. And it’s a familiar visage.
Michael Chaves, who helmed the previous installment, 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, is in negotiations to direct what is being eyed as the fourth and final outing. The move makes Chaves a true Conjuring Universe player as he also directed last year’s spinoff, The Nun II.
David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who co-wrote the third installment with franchise creator James Wan, penned the screenplay.
Wan is producing with Peter Safran.

Neon is opening Origin on 130 screens and plans to expand the Ava DuVernay film, which premiered in Venice and had a excellent qualifying run in December.
Neon took global rights on Origin before its Venice premiere where it received an eight-minute standing ovation and DuVernay became the first Black American woman to have a selection there. Deadline reported the film tested well with audiences, landing a 91 total positive in the top two boxes, with an 81 definite recommend, the highest for both Neon and DuVernay. With the theatrical release, the distributor is looking to pull in the arthouse and “smarthouse” (mainstream crossover) audiences and Black audiences with targeted bookings including theaters in regional markets like Atlanta, Chicago and Baltimore. It’s a hard film to comp but it is everywhere that recent films The Color Purple and American Fiction have done well.

Ava DuVernay says that while “it’s been disappointing” her film Origin “hasn’t had the reach in the Hollywood community” during awards season, she is proud of the “overwhelmingly positive, overwhelmingly connected” response it’s garnered from those who have embraced it.
Starring Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Audra McDonald, Niecy Nash-Betts, Nick Offerman, Blair Underwood and more, the Neon film is produced, directed and written by DuVernay, based on Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. The film adapts Wilkerson’s analytical exploration of how caste can serve as a framework for understanding American racism — alongside the caste systems of India and Nazi Germany — into a biographical drama that has been called poignant, ambitious and possibly “the most important biopic of a book ever made.”

It is a truth universally acknowledged (or at least it should be by now) that America is a country founded upon — as well as cursed, colonized, and fertilized by — a bedrock of racism that continues to this day. Should you be unable to wrap your head around that in 2024, we’re not sure what to say to you. But to chalk up modern social inequity and state-sanctioned violence against certain communities to being “merely” a racially-biased phenomenon and simply leave it at that is insufficient. There’s something deeper going...

Marvel villains often survive preposterous injuries, thanks to the malleable definition of mortality in the MCU. Characters like Kingpin, Red Skull, and Yellowjacket have all survived seemingly fatal incidents and returned in later installments. Spider-Man: No Way Home confirms that Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard all survived their deaths in previous movies through multiversal magic.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a pretty loose sense of mortality, but some villains have survived preposterous injuries, only to reappear in subsequent installments. The phenomenon occurs throughout the MCU timeline, reviving fan-favorite characters through various means. Many of these actually have a comic book precedent, while others are rather spurious attempts to undo narratives after characters prove to be incredibly popular.

Even outside of Star Wars, prequels tend to get a bad rap. From answering questions that didn’t need answering (and destroying the mysteries of the original in the process) to repeating established formulas ad nauseum, it’s deceptively easy for these blasts from the past to trip over their previously established lore. After all, it’s kind of hard to tell an engaging story when audiences already know what happens next.
Thankfully, the horror genre seems to be especially blessed with filmmakers that see prequels as an opportunity to tell original stories within an established world. I mean, some folks even thought that last year’s Pearl was even better than X, and the trailer for Arkasha Stevenson’s upcoming The First Omen looks like it kicks all kinds of ass – and that’s precisely why we’ve decided to come up with a list highlighting six underrated horror prequels for your viewing pleasure!

With an innate ability to elevate the films she appears in to a new level despite very rarely getting starring roles, Vera Farmiga is one of the most underrated actresses currently working in Hollywood. Having begun her cinematic acting career in the late 1990s, Farmiga announced herself as a rising star with her major breakout as the lead of the 2004 indie drama Down to the Bone, which saw her play a drug-addicted mother of two as she tries to rehabilitate herself.

The screenings will be held on the West Coat at the Rodeo Screening Room in Beverly Hills at 11 am P and 2 pm Pt on Christmas Day, and on the East Coast at the Tribeca Screening Room at 12 pm Et.
Invitations are set to be emailed out this morning to members of the WGA, PGA, DGA, American Society of Cinematographers, American Cinema Editors and other Guilds, I’m told.
Having said that, we’ve take a look under the Cinema tree, so to speak, at a poignant exclusive clip from Origin, the most highly test film ever for distributor Neon and DuVernay, that captures the stratification of discrimination. See Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor...

The eighth film in the Conjuring's increasingly spooky cinematic universe, The Nun II does a fantastic job of bridging the entire series together. Despite the obvious connection of Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet), I'd be lying if I said I didn't go into the film looking for a deeper connection between the Nun movies and the main Conjuring films. Given the casting of both Vera Farmiga and Taissa Farmiga in the same franchise — real-life sisters and both accomplished scream queens — fans have been searching for a connection between their two characters since 2018. Now, The Nun II gives us our answer!

Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series spotlighting the year’s most talked-about scripts continues with the ambitious Ava DuVernay-directed drama Origin, with the script also written by DuVernay inspired by Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson’s groundbreaking book Caste: The Origin of Our Discontents.
The film explores caste systems around the world as a mode of oppression, with the narrative delving into the deep-seated intricacies of caste and how it underpins much of society’s discrimination, sometimes transcending even race. The film is for those looking to understand the world’s deeply entrenched systems, an ambitious, radical venture that highlights the horrors of caste and its intersections with race.
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor stars as the author, which traces the path she took to writing it while also experiencing her own tragedy. The creative and personal journey spans several continents and encompasses grief, revelation and the evils of historical stratification, stretching...
