Dan Gagliasso is an award winning documentary film maker and screenwriter whose credits as a director, producer or writer include a number of History Channel and Discovery Channel shows including Law Enforcement Snipers, The True Story of the Black Sheep, Comanche Warriors, The Battle of New Orleans, The O.K. Corral Gunfight and The Donner Party. A member of the Director's Guild of America since 2002 he has also directed or produced episodes of various cable series including History's Mysteries, Frontier, Unsolved History and Legends & Lies.
In 2002 he co-wrote the award winning History Channel two-hour special Boone and Crockett: the Hunter Heroes that won the Western Writers of America Award for Best Documentary Script.
He has written action films for legendary producer Roger Corman including 'Nam Angels, served as writer/director John Milius' historical advisor on the TNT Teddy Roosevelt mini-series Rough Riders and produced and/or co written several recent low-budget action films including Expendable Assets.
He has three scripts in various stages of development - the World War II time travel adventure Dragon's Teeth with Mednick Productions, the true life prison escape story Lawyers, Guns & Money with Truth Entertainment/NoEgo Productions and an adaptation of David Yurth's medical science fact/fiction book Code Eraser with RZ Productions.
He has also published over 170 magazine articles in various national magazines including American Cinematographer, Soldier of Fortune, The O.S.S. Society Journal, Montana; the Magazine of Western History, Cowboys & Indians, American Cowboy, True West, The Cowboy Way and many others.
His book The Celluloid Custer; the American Indian Wars on Film will be published by the University of New Mexico Press in 2020.
