Based on King’s 1983 novel, Pet Sematary was directed by Mary Lambert from a screenplay King wrote himself. The film has the following synopsis:
Doctor Louis Creed moves his family to Maine, where he meets a friendly local named Jud Crandall. After the Creeds’ cat is accidentally killed, Crandall advises Louis to bury it in the ground near the old pet cemetery. The cat returns to life, its personality changed for the worse. "You know what I see? Fear!" Gravitas Ventures has revealed a trailer for Where Are You, a psychological thriller mystery about a photographer. This initially premiered at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival last year, but made no impact and earned no buzz. Now it's being dumped on VOD later this month. A photographer experiencing an artistic decline begins taking his aggressions out on his super attractive artist girlfriend. When she cryptically disappears, he enters his own subconscious, descending down a spiral of mystery and madness on his search for her, as well as himself. The film's ensemble cast features Anthony Hopkins, Camille Rowe, Irakli Kvirikadze, Ray Nicholson, Angela Sarafyan, Mickey Sumner, Melora Walters, Christopher Ashman, Brad Greenquist, and Madeline Brewer. This is a very strange out-of-the-90s trailer that sells it like a "coming to Saturday night TV" movie special. Doesn't seem that exciting. ›››

Tfh Guru Mary Lambert‘s excellent, intense and darkly funny film adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary debuted on April 21st, 1989. 30 years later, it has terrified untold oodles of pet owners, who’ve no doubt pondered the lengths to which they’d go if their beloved critters were to be, say, leveled by a truck. Our journey through the screen adaptations of Stephen King's writing brings us to a trip to the Pet Sematary...
The film: Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff) takes a job as a doctor at the University of Maine, moving into a new home with his wife Rachel (Denise Crosby) and their two young children, Ellie (Blaze Berdahl) and Gage (Miko Hughes). Their neighbour Jud (Fred Gwynne) takes a shine to the family and Louis in particular. Jud takes them to the local ‘pet sematary’ where children bury their pets, animals killed by the trucks on the road running past the Creeds’ house. When tragedy strikes, the sinister significance of the Micmac burial ground near the cemetery becomes clear.

Directors/writers: John Campopiano and Justin White. Interviewees: Denise Crosby, Dale Midkiff, Miko Hughes, Brad Greenquist, Carlene Hirsch. Unearthed & Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary is a documentary on the 1989, Mary Lambert produced film. Developed over five years, the documentary shows dedication and careful editing. Mostly told through interviews with cast and crew, this documentary offers a lot of behind-the-scenes trivia. It also delivers a cohesive breakdown on how the original film was developed. From set location scouting to character motivations, almost everything (in production) is covered. There is one thing missing though; there is no actual footage of the film, which is owned by Paramount Pictures. Still, did you know there were multiple endings shot for the film? This viewer did not, nor how Stephen King based.

Though I’ve loved horror movies since as far back as I can literally remember, it’s never been because I find them all that scary. There are plenty of reasons why I love the genre more than any other, but being scared isn’t one of them. It’s the rare horror film that can really terrify me. The 1989 Stephen King adaptation, Pet Sematary, is one such film. And it’s all Zelda’s fault.
Ironically, the scariest aspect of Pet Sematary is only tangentially related to the actual plot. The 1983 novel (and subsequent film adaptation) is about a Chicago family that relocates to a small New England town and has their lives destroyed when their youngest son, Gage, is hit by a car and killed. Things are made worse when the father, Louis Creed, buries Gage in the magical cemetery nearby—an ancient Indian burial ground with the...

Stephen King's Pet Sematary scared the living shit out of me when I was a kid. It gave me nightmares for months! I couldn't even get to sleep at times because I would imagine Zelda, one of the creepy-ass characters in the film, crouched in the shadows of the corner of my bedroom. Regardless of those terrifying memories of the movie, I still watch it every year during Halloween to remind myself of that fear. Why? Maybe because I'm a little twisted, and even though it scared me to death, I enjoyed the adrenaline rush of it. Here are thirteen fun facts that I came across for the film that I wanted to share.
King once said that this is the only novel he wrote that really scared him.The role of the terrifying character Zelda, who was Rachael's dying sister, was played by a man. The director, Mary Lambert,...

• Boardwalk Empire actor Jack Huston will take the chariot reins as the title role in the upcoming remake of Ben-Hur. Previously, Tom Hiddleston had been in talks for the role of slave Judah Ben-Hur in the Paramount and MGM picture. Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) is directing the film adapted by John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) and Keith Clarke (The Way Back) that is said to be based more on Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ than the 1959 film that starred Charlton Heston. Morgan Freeman has already been cast as Ildarin, the teacher who helps make the slave Ben-Hur into chariot racer champion.

Story 1: A bike messenger collapses and has a prior record for assaulting a taxi driver. Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo) asks "Is that still a crime in New York?" It's probably commonplace since there's an abundance of taxis in the city. He suffered a stab wound to his upper right side. It appears to be the secondary Cs. Danny finds his delivery manifest, his boss was Michael Stalin. Speaking with him, Danny is told, the better the route, the more money they were paid. Danny: "I'm looking for the truth, you don't seem so eager to deliver." Danny questions another messenger, Brett (Aisha Hinds). So there would be plenty of suspects vying for his route. The second story sees the death of a dog handler. Flack (Eddie Cahill) questions Emily Curtis who showed other dogs. The show's vet, Ross, (Zach Grenier) found the body, but he didn't hear anything. Chicago – While Robert “Twilight” Pattinson has persuasively branched out beyond his typecasting of reanimated and preternatural corpses, his miscast union in the tensionless “Water for Elephants” with pin-up circus spectacle Reese Witherspoon works as well as an elephant trying to spoon a sworn-enemy lion.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
Despite an uneven plot progression that theatrically only brings a comatose life to Sara Gruen’s 2006 best-selling historical novel, sadistic ringmaster Christoph Waltz (Oscar winner for Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”) and flashback story teller Hal Holbrook (Oscar nominated for Sean Penn’s “Into the Wild”) are the film’s only redeeming salvations.
Waltz, who’s hopelessly haunting in 2009’s “Inglourious Basterds” as the film’s principal Nazi nemesis, resuscitates similar gestures and speech patterns. While he’s playing a very similar character within a completely different and convoluted traveling circus story, he’s the primary character who’s making interesting use of his supporting screen time.

Not so many years ago, acting classes were fairly uncomplicated affairs. You needed a spacious, well-lit studio. You would add perhaps a few chairs and tables or movable blocks for scene study work. Top that with a teacher who knew what he or she was about, plus students eager to master the craft, and you were set. In some cases, that model still holds. But many, if not most, acting classes have become decidedly more complex.Consider the catalogue of equipment that Los Angeles acting teacher Brad Greenquist (www.bradgreenquist.com) uses in his acting-for-the-camera classes. "I have a Panasonic DVX100A camera that I shoot with, usually on a tripod but sometimes hand-held or with a dolly," he reports. "I have a boom and a boom pole and a Røde mike, and also an Audio-Technica lavaliere system with a portable receiver-mixer, which allows me to use two lavs to...

"Sometimes Dead is Better" uttered in a slightly country, twang voice that only the late, great Fred Gwynne could muster. Pet Sematary is one of those rare horror gems that is often under appreciated (and rarely talked about) by the horror community...
In our opinion this film was a great adaptation of Stephen King’s novel and why wouldn’t it? King himself wrote the screenplay. However, is the movie perfect? By no means are we claiming that, but the question we’re asking is, “does it need the remake treatment?”.
We’re not going to be that naïve and let our fondness of Pet Sematary cloud obvious improvements that are needed. We’ll be the first to admit that the rumored Paramount remake could address a few issues that resulted from the transfer of the novel to film. Most of the time when books are condensed to movies the...

Murphy latest 'Hall' monitor
Brittany Murphy begins filming the indie feature Across the Hall Wednesday and also is eyeing a role in the dark comedy Poor Things. She would replace Lindsay Lohan, who has dropped out of the cast of the latter film.
In Hall, Murphy is starring opposite Mike Vogel (Cloverfield) and Danny Pino (The Burning Plain) in a thriller about a brutal standoff between a young man (Vogel), his fiancee and his best friend (Pino).
The cast also includes Dov Davidoff (Invincible), Brad Greenquist (Shiloh Falls) and Guillermo Diaz (Weeds).
Insomnia Media Group is producing the film, directed by Alex Merkin from a screenplay by Jesse Mittelstadt and Julien Schwab. Hall is based on Merkin's award-winning 2005 short film that starred Adrian Grenier (Entourage). WMA is repping the film domestically, while Voltage handles international sales.
Bret Saxon and Jeff Bowler are among the producers.
Meanwhile, Murphy is under consideration as a replacement for Lohan in Poor, though negotiations have not yet begun.
Scott Marshall has come aboard to direct the film, replacing original director Ash Baron-Cohen, who departed over what was described as "creative differences."
Lohan fell out of the project in May when she admitted herself to a rehabilitation facility.
