Since it premiered in January 2023, ABC's Will Trent has been a massive hit. The network just renewed the series for a third season, and the Gbi and Apd will return to solve more cases.
The renewal wasn't much of a surprise because Will Trent's ratings have risen to 4.8 million viewers and a .4 in the demo.
What makes Will Trent so intriguing to watch? Why is it different from other police procedurals? There are many reasons, but at its core are the characters.
Based on Karin Slaughter's best-selling novels, the hour-long procedural focuses on Special Agent Will Trent of the Gbi.
While no two series are the same, Will Trent is most similar to The Mentalist and Mobk, whose protagonists also see key details differently than most investigators. Adrian Monk also had a dark past, and digging into a character's past allows for more interesting storylines.
Will Trent Connects the Characters to the Cases.

Popular medical drama House has just been added to Hulu on Tuesday (November 7)!
The eight-season Fox series centered on Dr. Gregory House, who is devoid of anything resembling bedside manner and wouldn’t even talk to his patients if he could get away with it. Dealing with his own constant physical pain, he uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor.
While his behavior can border on antisocial, House is a brilliant diagnostician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts afford him widespread respect. An infectious disease specialist, House thrives on the challenge of solving medical puzzles in order to save lives.
The series featured quite the cast over the course of it’s run: Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer, Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison, Peter Jacobson, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Amber Tamblyn, Odette Annable and Charlyne Yi.

When I think back on the ABC fairytale series Once Upon a Time, I first and foremost picture the “requel” season’s Cinderella 2.0 on a motorcycle.
Just kidding; no I don’t. And I’d argue that no Ouat fan does. And yet that is the hero/landing page image that Hulu chose to trumpet Ouat‘s return to the platform, which now shares custody of the series with sister streamer Disney+.

All seven seasons of ABC’s Once Upon a Time will start streaming on Hulu Sept. 1. The fairytale drama has been streaming exclusively on Disney+ since it left Netflix; it will now be shared by the two Disney entertainment platforms.
Exclusivity, considered paramount in the early stages of the streaming wars, has taken a back seat to media companies’ push for additional revenue and profitability. The strategy shift has led to original HBO series streaming on Netflix, for example, with NBCUniversal’s Suits also finding its way to the global streamer.
At Disney, there has been increasing cross-pollination between previously walled-up Disney+ and Hulu.
The Simpsons, which started streaming exclusively on Disney+ at launch, also has a couple of seasons available on Hulu.

American actor Angus Young got an emotional farewell at his hometown of Oakland with a candlelight vigil paying tribute to the late ‘Euphoria’ star. According to TMZ, the town’s local artiste Darin Balaban, painted a 9-foot-tall mural on the wall of an Oakland car wash with over 50 people showing up at the mural for a candlelight vigil, with many bringing flowers and pictures of Angus and placing them at the base of the wall.
Others brought liquor and beer, then the group began playing music, sang songs together, danced and exchanged stories as part of both paying tribute and celebrating Angus’ life and legacy at the mural.
The whole town witnessed a mix of silence and cheers, as the area lit up with the small flames of candle light in a beautifully heartfelt moment to the young actor who passed away at the age of 25. There were tears at...

The Campano kidnapping case wrapped up too quickly.
Will and Faith fingered a sexual predator for Emma's kidnapping on Will Trent Season 1 Episode 2, while Angie used her past to get a witness to open up.
The past came back to haunt Will, Angie, and Paul.
Paul was different from his behavior on Will Trent Season 1 Episode 1. He was still aggressive but wanted to work with Will and Angie.
His reckless gunshot led Will to Evan Bernard.
Will: We got his DNA. Now we need to arrest you because you just shot a man in his driveway. If you’re right, then everything else we do needs to be by the book if he’s still alive.
Paul: I can’t believe you two are still hooking up. You know, there’s a whole world of people out there, right?

ABC's new crime drama follows Special Agent Will Trent (Ramon Rodriguez) as he returns to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations to solve his most complicated case yet.
The special agent was called to a horrific break-in and murder by his boss Amanda (Sonya Sohn) on Will Trent Season 1 Episode 1, but Will was reluctant to return since he recently learned he had dyslexia and missed significant clues in a recent case.
However, while the other cops thought this murder was self-explanatory, Will saw different details which may help the case.
The central murder scene was shown in graphic detail, as the mom Abigail saw someone had broken into their house. Like any mom, she ran inside looking for her child. That scream was guttural when she saw blood around a teen girl, assuming it was her daughter.
Jennifer Morrison played a traumatized mom so brilliantly as she went after the intruder,...

Not always empirically good, but better than the bland title and awful opening sequence might lead you to suspect, ABC’s Will Trent quickly emerges as an above-average broadcast TV procedural — even if it’s exactly those structural trappings that so frequently undermine it.
As middlebrow popular lit adaptations go, Will Trent delivers a distinctive main character and leading performances, a promising ensemble and — based off the first two episodes — it appears easily capable of appealing to the same audience that found comfort in Netflix’s Lincoln Lawyer and Amazon’s Reacher.
Named with the same strategy that gave us Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector on NBC for a couple of months back in 2020, Will Trent is based on a long-running series of Atlanta-set novels by Karin Slaughter — a fact that existing fans probably still could have deduced with a more vivid title.

Few true stories are as harrowing, grisly, or baffling as the ones presented on Wondery's "Dr. Death" podcast. The hit series investigates the stories of fraudulent, overconfident, often manipulative medical professionals who seem to purposely and pathologically put their patients' lives at risk. The first season, about spine-maiming Dr. Christopher Duntsch, who's now serving life in prison, captured listeners' attention when it debuted in 2018 and went on to inspire the Peacock series of the same name.
But the other seasons of "Dr. Death" are just as disturbing, and now, the Critics Choice-nominated drama series is set to return as an anthology. The second season will tell another story fans of the Wondery podcast will be familiar with: that of Dr. Paolo Macchiarini. Here's everything we know so far about the second installment of the series about horrendous medical malpractice.

The Wondery podcast Dr. Death covered the case of surgeon Christopher Duntsch for its first season, hematologist / oncologist Farid Fata with its second season, and surgeon Paolo Macchiarini for its third season. The Peacock anthology series inspired by the podcast also told the story of Duntsch with its first season, where the convicted surgeon was played by Joshua Jackson. (Read our review Here.) The second season of Peacock’s Dr. Death series is moving on to the story of Paolo Macchiarini – and Deadline reports that Edgar Ramirez (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story) has signed on to play the role.
