Filmmaker Kevin Smith is best known for his work in the comedy genre. His movies often center on comic book and Star Wars-loving guys, and tend to be packed with stoner humor and vulgar but amusing conversations about sex. But once he was more than a decade and several movies into his movie career, he decided to switch things up, making a horror film that was inspired by disturbing headlines and is packed with death, damnation – and some damn fine acting. Released in 2011, Kevin Smith’s first horror movie was called Red State (watch it Here), and if you haven’t seen it, it’s the best horror movie you never saw.

Kevin Smith has listed a Los Angeles home for $5.995 million that he first saw in 2001 when his friend Ben Affleck owned it.
The Clerks, Clerks III, Chasing Amy and Mall Rats director and his wife, Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, were invited to a Fourth of July barbecue at Affleck’s house that year. Smith told the Wall Street Journal that his wife fell in love with the 8,144-square-foot, five-bedroom Mediterranean-inspired house, calling it her “dream home.” During the barbecue, “My wife and I were admiring how beautiful the home was,” recalled Smith. “Ben was getting frustrated with the home as it is on a main road, and there were always paparazzi outside. He suggested we buy it from him at the same price he purchased it in 1998.”
The Smiths bought the house for $1.62 million in 2003 and raised their daughter Harley Quinn Smith (Cruel Summer, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot) there. They...

Kevin Smith has directed eight feature films since 2006's "Clerks II" — including "Clerks III," it so happens — but "Clerks II" might function best as the coda to his body of work. In the film, Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and Randall (Jeff Anderson), now in their early 40s, have been reduced to working at a low-price fast food joint called Mooby's to make ends meet. Dante is poised to marry his fiancée Emma (Jennifer Schwalbach) and move to Florida to run a car wash. This has Dante facing an existential crisis, as he is actually in love with his manager Becky (Rosario Dawson), with whom he had an affair. Randall, too, is thrown into an existential crisis by the impending absence of his best friend. The future doesn't look bright. The decisions these characters make in "Clerks II" will essentially come to define their adulthoods, and they are still, in many ways,...

It's interesting how the first and third "Clerks" films act as time capsules for Kevin Smith's life. 1994's "Clerks," the first movie Smith ever wrote and directed, is a comedy inspired by his time working at a convenience store. 2022's "Clerks III" similarly nods to the heart attack that nearly killed Smith in 2018. Neither one of them is what you would call a memoir, but there are clear biographical aspects to both of these films.
Then you have "Clerks II." The 2006 film more or less picks up with "Clerks" duo Dante Hicks (Brian O'Halloran) and Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson) in real-time as they transition from tedious, low-paying jobs at convenience stores to tedious, low-paying jobs at a fast food joint. Dante, however, soon finds himself at a crossroads. Will be marry his affluent fiancée Emma (Jennifer Schwalbach) and leave New Jersey to run her family's business in Florida? Or...

The original "Clerks" is a cult comedy classic, a movie made for next-to-nothing by first-time director Kevin Smith, starring a bunch of his friends in a convenience store. The sincere yet directionless Dante, who's "not even supposed to be here today," and his motor-mouthed pop culture-obsessed best friend Randal spend most of the movie riffing with each other and the bizarre customers that frequent their Quick Stop.
This indie darling spawned the View Askewniverse, which includes "Chasing Amy," "Dogma," "Mallrats," "Clerks II," a "Clerks" animated series, and comic book, both "Jay and Silent Bob" movies, and now "Clerks III." So technically, Kevin Smith beat Marvel to the punch regarding interconnected cinematic universes. (Just saying.)
"Clerks III" picks up with Randal and Dante, now middle-aged and not much further ahead in life. Sure they co-own the Quick Stop now, but after a heart attack that nearly kills Randal, he is inspired...

When "Clerks: The Animated Series" debuted on ABC in the year 2000, fans of Kevin Smith's 1994 breakout film had many questions. The first one may have been, "Why did ABC cancel the show before airing all six episodes in their proper order?" Actually, the first question was probably, "Why did ABC agree to do a 'Clerks' show in the first place?" But at some point after that, the fanbase likely wondered if the cartoon was considered part of the View Askewniverse canon or not. Now, 22 years after Dante and Randal's stint on prime time television, they finally have an answer: Kind of.

Twenty-eight years after Kevin Smith made his film debut with the foul-mouthed low-budget comedy "Clerks" and 16 years after the sweet and silly sequel, "Clerks II," the director returns to the Quick Stop to bring the story full circle in "Clerks III." Clerks Dante Hicks (Brian O'Halloran) and Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson) own the convenience store that brought them together, but they aren't sure if they've achieved their dreams or just fallen into their same old routines. Then Randal has a heart attack and realizes life is too short to waste, so he wants to make a movie.
This is Smith at his most deeply personal: Randal's heart attack is clearly based on Smith's own, and the creation of his film at the Quick Stop is a metacommentary on the making of the first "Clerks." Fans in search of the mile-a-minute crass comedy of some of his earlier work, including the...

In addition to reuniting him with several of the “Clerks” actors whose careers he helped launch back in 1994, “Clerks III” gave Kevin Smith another chance to direct his old friend Ben Affleck in a cameo role — and pay tribute to their long friendship with a very inside joke.
The two previously worked together on several early-career films, including “Mallrats,” “Chasing Amy,” “Dogma” and “Jersey Girl,” and as Smith told Variety at the new film’s Hollywood premiere at the Chinese 6, Affleck was extremely eager to appear in a cameo as one of several famous faces — including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Danny Trejo and Melissa Benoist — auditioning for a role in the movie-within-a-movie being made by the Quick Stop clerks.

Mewes and Smith—who has said he is the creator of the couple's nickname "Bennifer"—were joined by their wives, Jordan Monsanto and Jennifer Schwalbach Smith. And interestingly enough, this movie brings the New Jersey native all the way back to his first chapter as the characters that kickstarted his career back in the early '90s are now making their own movie about working in a convenience store.

With a name like Harley Quinn Smith, most people would agree that Harley was destined to be a star. The fact that her father is filmmaker Kevin Smith and her mother is actress Jennifer Schwalbach Smith probably didn’t hurt either. Needless to say, Harley’s decision to join the entertainment industry was almost inevitable. Despite her famous parents, however, she has always worked hard to stand on her own. So far she’s managed to do exactly that. After making a series of relatively small on-screen appearances, Harley has gotten a major break with her role in the upcoming Freeform series Cruel

Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood takes place in Tinseltown and brings to life some of Hollywood’s most famous personalities.
From Steve McQueen to Bruce Lee to Sharon Tate, Tarantino, 56, takes audiences through an epic era in Hollywood — and it makes sense the auteur would include as many A-listers as possible, including their kids.
Rumer Willis stars in the film as Joanna Pettet, a close friend of Tate’s (played by Margot Robbie).
Willis, 30, is the oldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. She was recently on The Masked Singer where she showed off her singing skills as the lion.

Remember Thor: Ragnarok? Of course you do…
Just before the one-two punch of Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios pumped out a genre oddity from Taika Waititi. Part of that eccentricity came in the opening 30 minutes, when we were introduced to an Asgardian play in which Matt Damon – the Matt Damon – was up on stage doing his best Loki impression.
And this year, it seems Damon will channel the God of Mischief once more… but not as you might think. Rather than harkening back to McU past, the actor will instead resurrect another Loki in time for the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. That’s right, Damon’s Dogma demon will stage his return in 2019, and it seems we have Kevin Smith’s wife, Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, to thank for the brainwave.

Kevin Smith has released a new video from the set of his new film, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and in it he introduces us to the new young and diverse Girl Gang. This video pretty much focuses on these characters.
There was a Girl Gang in the first movie, but since this is a reboot, they brought in new cast members to play the characters and those cast members include Alice Wen (Mr. Student Body President), Aparna Brielle (A.P. It would make sense that Smith’s daughter is in the gang considering her mom was a member of original gang in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The original crew was played by Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, Shannon Elizabeth, Eliza Dushku, and Ali Larter. Smith explains:

How a 1994 indie hit from Kevin Smith gave birth to an unlikely franchise...
In 1993, Kevin Smith made a movie. Clerks was shot in black and white over the course of three weeks, at night, in the convenience store where Smith worked during the day, on a shoestring budget of $27,575. Smith funded the film himself by dipping into his savings, selling all his comics and maxing out several credit cards.
Even though it became an indie phenomenon when it was picked up by Bob and Harvey Weinstein's Miramax (who gave it a new soundtrack using a post-production budget that was ten times the cost of principal photography) at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival, it doesn't have 'franchise starter' written all over it.
Long considered a Gen X touchstone, Clerks is a funny and filthy slice of life movie, which equates a working day for Dante Hicks (Brian O'Halloran) to his namesake's Inferno.

So, Kevin Smith… A man whose work I’ve really enjoyed over the years (Clerks 2 and Dogma being my personal highlights, though I used to live for Mallrats), took a, let’s say, interesting path with his recent directorial efforts Red State and Tusk. Exploring the horror genre rather than the comedy/drama he became known for, Smith looks to have a new-found passion for filmmaking, seemingly no longer going through the motions with his View Askewniverse – though he has just announced another Jay and Silent Bob flick!
Instead Smith announced the development of a “True North” trilogy: strange genre tales set in Canada, a country that – like Smith – I have an affinity for.

Exploring the horror genre rather than the comedy/drama he became known for, Smith looks to have a new-found passion for filmmaking, seemingly no longer going through the motions with his View Askewniverse – though he has just announced another Jay and Silent Bob flick!

Superman Lives, The Green Hornet and sadly now Clerks III: here’s a rundown of the Kevin Smith films we’ll probably never see...
Kevin Smith has always had to fight to get his films off the ground: he started his filmmaking career by maxing out multiple credit cards to self-finance Clerks, and more recently, legend has it, it was only Johnny Depp’s decision to come on board as a wacky supporting character that allowed Smith to secure financing for his walrus-centric horror flick Tusk.
Smith has, across his career, been offered several barmy jobs (he rejected a chance to pen Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian back in the 90s) and he’s also signed up for a lot of projects that never got past the script phase.
The latter camp of could’ve-beens is what we’re talking about today, following that news that Clerks III...

I think it’s safe to say at this point that most people have a pretty firm opinion about the films of Kevin Smith, as well as the filmmaker himself. Personally, I think he’s a hoot and actually is one of my favorite artists out there. This week, Smith unleashes Yoga Hosers into the world after a debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. As someone who enjoys his various podcasts, hearing the idea sort of birthed during one, much like with Tusk, had me eager to see it. Frankly, it doesn’t disappoint, though I freely admit this won’t be for everyone. It’s a strange beast, but kind of a perfect fit for Smith’s current interests at this point in his career. Again, the movie is, like the aforementioned Tusk, based off of a conversation Smith had with Scott Mosier on SModcast, one of his podcasts.

Kevin Smith’s next film is an all out family affair. As you’d expect, he both wrote and directed Yoga Hosers, but not only did his wife, Jennifer Schwalbach, produce, but his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, stars in the lead role. It doesn’t stop there though, because Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, is taking the other lead role, while her famous father and mother, Vanessa Paradis, have parts too. Because of this, intrigue over Yoga Hosers is rather rife, and the first clip for the comedy horror suggests that it’s going to have much more visual flair than Smith’s previous works, while still possessing an anarchic air. Check it out below. Yoga Hosers looks cute. Sure, there’s not all that much to go on in the clip, but both Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp seem ...

Having launched into a life of filmmaking with a seminal Sundance more than two decades back with Clerks (1994), while Park City is sacred grounds for Smith it’s not going to be an automatic invite for the filmmaker. Having visited the fest for Chasing Amy and more recently Red State (he also has producer creds for fest invited 2006’s small town gay bar and 2012’s Filly Brown). Production began all the way in August of 2014 on Yoga Hosers, so when it became a no-show at Tiff (where Tusk premiered) and where Johnny Depp’s Black Mass was in promo mode, the logical conclusion is this family affair might join Canuck film Turbo Kid in back-to-back Midnight section selections. While Tusk was a hard sell, this “sequel” could be a valuable acquisitions title for the predicted section if Depp’s Guy Lapointe character is afforded more time. Could this be a...

Filmmaker Kevin Smith is prepping to shoot his next movie called Yoga Hosers, which has been described as an action-adventure comic book movie. Johnny Depp will join Smith in the film along with their daughters Lily-Rose Depp and Harley Quinn Smith.
In preparation for his role in the movie Smith shaved his beard, and posted a picture of himself on Twitter, and he looks completely unrecognizable! He also looks 10 years younger. The photo came with the following caption:
"Look at this goofy spaz. This is me, beardless, for the @YogaHosers green screen shoot. #FaceBrazilian"
I don't know if anyone has ever seen Smith without his signature beard. I'm pretty sure he was born with it.
Yoga Hosers centers on "15-year-old yoga nuts Colleen Collette (Lily-Rose Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley Quinn Smith) who have an after-school job at a Manitoba convenience store called Eh-2-Zed. When an ancient evil rises...

'Yoga Hosers' marks the second installment in filmmaker Kevin Smith's new 'True North Trilogy'. His immediate follow-up to his twisted body horror 'Tusk', in cinemas next Friday, the movie teams up two 15 year old girls (played by Kev's daughter Harley Quinn and Johnny Depp's little 'un Lily-Rose Melody Depp) with an old hunter who join forces to help defeat an ancient evil presence. And of all the on-set images we thought we'd get a glimpse at during production we were not expecting to see Haley Joel Osment (below) in character as a Nazi politician. Osment returns alongside many of his 'Tusk' cast mates including Justin Long, Michael Parks and the sexy Genesis Rodriguez. 'Yoga Hosers' also stars Ralph Garman, Jennifer Schwalbach, Harley Morenstein, Natasha Lyonne, Tyler Posey, Adam Brody, Austin Butler, Jason Mewes, Tony Hale ('Veep'), Stan Lee...
