The legendary “rumble in the jungle” between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in Zaire, Africa brings to mind images of two bloodied fighters pushing themselves beyond the limits of endurance. However, the boxing match does not exactly scream musical.

Stepping up to defend her daughter once again from the harsh criticism, Ke$ha's mother shines some light on what really caused her little girl to become bulimic.
During an interview with People magazine, Pepe Sebert accused her daughter's producer Dr. Luke and former manager David Sonenberg of being partially responsible for the pop singer's struggles.
"One time on a conference call, Sonenberg was screaming, 'You need to lose weight! I don't care what you do... take drugs, not eat, stick your finger down your throat!" Pepe explained. "Ke$ha was just weeping. She drove around afterwards thinking about killing herself."
Miss Sebert went on to say Dr. Luke was also "very disrespectful" when it came to Ke$sha's weight. "He'd say it in certain ways, like 'Why don't you try running?' She was doing everything and not getting thin fast enough, and that's when she first became bulimic.

As Ke$ha heals at a treatment facility for an ongoing battle with anorexia and bulimia, her mother, Pebe Sebert, sheds more light on just how bad the singer's struggle had gotten. She tells People in an exclusive interview that weight bullying could have killed the singer. "I've watched my beautiful, self-confident, brilliant daughter be berated and ridiculed for her looks and weight to the point that she almost died," Sebert says. "The doctors told me her blood pressure and sodium levels were so low, they'd never seen it that low except with someone who'd had a heart attack or stroke.

Pop star Ke$ha is fighting a $14 million (9.3 million pound sterling) lawsuit from her former managers amid allegations she failed to honor a commission deal for helping her land a major recording contract. Bosses at Das Communications Inc. claim the singer signed a contract in 2006 agreeing to pay the New York-based firm 20 percent of her earnings if they secured her a big music deal.
According to legal papers filed in New York on Wednesday, May 26, she was allowed to terminate their business relationship if they failed to do so within a year. The managers struggled to fulfill their side of the deal but Ke$ha reportedly dismissed the deadline and continued to work with Das.
In 2008, executives set up a deal with Warner Bros. Records - but Ke$ha's songwriter/producer pal Dr. Luke allegedly halted the negotiations and "induced, intimidated and convinced" the singer to fire Das as her representatives in September that year.

A spokesperson for Paula Abdul has blasted reports the star is set to make a dramatic return to American Idol.
A host of celebrities have filled the fourth spot on the judging panel of the TV talent show alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi since Abdul quit the show earlier this month.
But speculation about Abdul's involvement with the contest refused to die down as U.S. tabloids dismissed her departure as a publicity stunt.
Media outlets even speculated that the singer would resume her place in the live final rounds of the competition.
But her manager, David Sonenberg, insists Abdul is not in talks to come back.
He says there are "no discussions whatsoever about Idol."
He adds, "She feels fabulous. She feels free. I think in some ways she was typecast in Idol and she was kind of restricted from doing anything she wanted to do and now she's free to decide. She really is very excited about the future and that there's support for her."...

Anonymously sourced/fake gossip reports be damned: Paula Abdul is not in talks about returning to American Idol. Don't expect to see Paula Abdul back on American Idol, because the negotiations are reportedly over. A ton of celebrities including Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Joe Jonas and Kelly Clarkson have already agreed to join Idol as guest judges this season, but will that fill Paula's void? Paula's manager David Sonenberg says there are "no discussions whatsoever about Idol" and Paula returning. And Paula twittered to confirm the news herself. She tweeted on Tuesday night, "with sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return." Paula's manager added, "She feels fabulous. She feels free....

Paula Abdul's manager has insisted that there have been "no discussions" about her returning to American Idol, hinting that she has other plans for the future. The singer confirmed that she was leaving the Fox reality show earlier this month, but numerous reports have suggested that she may reprise her panel position at a later date. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, manager David Sonenberg said that there had been "no discussions whatsoever about Idol", but admitted that he would "never count anything out". "I think in some ways she was typecast in Idol and she was kind of restricted from doing anything she wanted to (more)...

There is no intense negotiation between Paula Abdul and "American Idol" as it was previously reported. In an exclusive interview with Los Angeles Times, her manager David Sonenberg has just ruled out possibility that she will be back as a judge in the show, stating Paula is now focusing on her future career and the Fox show is not a part of it.
In the interview, David stated there have been "no discussions whatsoever about 'Idol'." He then added, "I can tell you her focus right now is speaking to all the other networks. The only one we haven't talked to, because of recent events, is Fox." However, it is possible that Paula will work with the studio again one day as David said, "But perhaps we would be speaking to Fox about shows in the near future."

How long has it been since we've heard from Paula Abdul herself? Weeks, right? Since she tweeted about her departure from American Idol, it's been week after week of guest judges, possible next gigs and the $10 million paycheck she isn't getting. Now we hear from her again... oh, wait, we hear from her manager again, but at least it's someone from her side.
The bottom line, according to David Sonenberg--the same guy who initially leaked the possibility that Paula won't be joining Idol next year--is this: there have been "no discussions whatsoever about Idol", and that her priorities are elsewhere. He says that a huge amount of offers have come her way since she announced her departure from the talent show, and she's considering some of them.

Paula Abdul announced her departure from "American Idol" earlier this month on her Twitter.com page, and now Abdul's manager David Sonenberg, is speaking out about what the future holds for the former "Idol" judge. Despite rumors that Abdul could end up back on the Fox reality competition show this season, Sonenberg tells the Los Angeles Times, that there have been "no discussions whatsoever about 'Idol,'" and that although he would "never count anything out," Abdul has other priorities. Sonenberg tells the La Times that the 47-year-old star has received many offers for various television appearances and projects, which he feels are in large part due to Abdul's attitude and support towards the young "Idol" hopefuls. "You can always tell when someone is really interested in you and not just going through the motions," he says. "That's clear with Paula. She's the kind of person who could be your...

While it seemed like Paula Abdul's sudden departure from "American Idol" last week was a shot in the dark, according to The New York Times, Abdul's decision was months in the making and resulted from some shrewd financial and logistical maneuvers from both Abdul's new manager and the show's producers.
The paper said in recent months, Abdul had begun to believe that there were more opportunities for her outside "Idol," where she had held a judge's seat since the show's debut in 2002. And despite some suggestions that Abdul had made a rash and possibly career-harming decision to walk away from negotiations with the most popular show on television, her prospects are already looking up, as both NBC and ABC, as well as...

She helped scout for talent across the country, nurtured rising singers and became an icon on one of TV's most popular shows. But after eight seasons and back and forth negotiations, Paula Abdul shocked fans -- and her bosses -- when she announced she was leaving [1] American Idol. So what exactly went wrong? Speculation [2] about Abdul's future with the show grew rampant after manager David Sonenberg told the Los Angeles Times in July that FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the production companies behind Idol, had not given her a new contract three weeks before the ninth season was to start filming -- and just days after Idol host Ryan Seacrest reportedly signed a three-year deal for $45 million [3]. "She's worked really hard for them and it's time for them to reciprocate," a source told People at the time. "They need to come through or she'll walk." The warning signs may have been there: Sonenberg spoke out against producers,...

While her fans might be upset, advertisers don't expect Paula Abdul's exit as an "American Idol" judge to have any significant impact on ad sales or audience ratings for the Fox show.
"To me, that show is appointment TV, and a lot of it is driven by the contestants and how compelling they are," said Shari Cohen, executive director of Mindshare in New York, which buys TV ad time for national advertisers. "I think the judges offer a layer of intrigue and allure, but it's really very much about how compelling are the contestants and does that draw viewers in."
Tom Weeks, senior vp and director at Starcom Entertainment in Chicago, agreed.
"It will have an impact in terms of how people connect to it, but I still feel it's a juggernaut and will continue to be a top-rated show," he said.

Paula Abdul has announced on her Twitter.com page she will not be returning to the judging panel of American Idol.
The 47 year old has been in negotiations with TV executives to renew her contract for series' 2010 season, alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
She reportedly demanded $20 million (£13.3 million) from bosses to stay on the show but her manager David Sonenberg recently said, "Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on Idol."
Fans subsequently launched a campaign to keep her on American Idol - but Abdul has confirmed she will not be resuming her post on the hit U.S. competition.
In a series of posts on social networking site Twitter.com on Tuesday, she stated, "With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to Idol. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1 become an international phenomenon.
"What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month.

Why would Paula Abdul leave the top-rated show in television, one that gave her a sustained, worldwide fanbase she hasn't had since the days when she sold nearly 50 million albums two decades ago?
Was it the constant needling from fellow "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell? The parade of jokes and online spoofs of her on-air loopiness? No, according to The New York Times, in light of host Ryan Seacrest's recent $45 million deal, Abdul has been lobbying for a major pay bump in contract negotiations that have been going on since the spring.
Those negotiations appear to have fallen apart Tuesday, when Abdul took to her Twitter account to announce that she was leaving the show after eight seasons. It also came just a day after producers were effusive in their praise when...

American Idol star Paula Abdul has been offered a seat on the judging panel of another TV talent contest - So You Think You Can Dance.
Abdul's future on the singing competition was thrown into doubt last week when her manager, David Sonenberg, told the Los Angeles Times that "it does not appear" that she will be returning to Idol in 2010.
But now she could be set for a move over to the rival dance show, after the programme's judge Nigel Lythgoe revealed he would consider her for a role "without a question".
Lythgoe, who created the dance talent show in 2005, used to be a producer on American Idol, while Abdul has worked as a successful choreographer.
Discussions have come to a halt between Abdul and TV executives as she bids to return to her spot alongside fellow judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and last year's newcomer Kara DioGuardi.
New reports claim the reason behind Abdul's delayed contract renewal is because she is demanding $20 million (£13.3 million) - $10 million (£6.6 million) more than bosses are willing to offer her.

Paula Abdul, one of the longtime judges of "American Idol", allegedly asks for a $20 million deal to come back to the next season of the reality singing contest. The demand, according to Radar Online, "has been turned down so far".
Over the weekend, Paula Abdul's manager, David Sonenberg, said in an interview with The Los Angeles Times that the 47-year-old beauty probably won't return to the new series of "American Idol", which will be premiered in January 2010. "Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on 'Idol,'" he testified.
Sonenberg claimed Abdul actually would "love to be on the show", but she has yet to receive a proposal for her return. "She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry," the manager said. "I think at this point we're going to be considering everything, including some kind of a competition show.

Simon Cowell is adamant Paula Abdul will stay on the judging panel of hit U.S. show American Idol - he's told bosses he wants her contract to be renewed.
The 47 year old's future on the talent series was thrown into doubt this weekend when her manager, David Sonenberg, told the Los Angeles Times that "it does not appear" that she will be returning in 2010's Idol.
Discussions have come to a halt between Abdul and TV executives as she bids to return to her spot alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
