Hazel Spears, active in Hollywood from 1979-1987, appeared in JD's Revenge, most extensively in Penitentiary, and in Disco Godfather, with occasional small parts in soap operas and TV shows.
She went on to attend Los Angeles City College, and the University of Southern California double-majoring in Psychology and Communications. Opting to pursue the Academic rather than the theatrical track, she obtained her doctorate from Princeton in 1996.
In 2021, an Associate Professor at HBCU Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Spears is the Director of the Freshman Orientation program, and brings excitement and energy to topics such as Human Sexuality, The Psych of the Black American, and Social Psychology. Her last outing on TV was a two-day stint on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in 2014, where she walked away with $15,000.
