‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is generating significant anticipation as one of the most exciting upcoming projects in the MCU. Scheduled for release in 2024, it’s already drawing praise from those who have seen previews, with expectations high for its impact on the franchise’s reputation.
As with any highly anticipated project, rumors abound regarding potential cameos, variants, and plot elements, with some confirmations, such as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and others still under speculation, supported by mounting evidence. To provide clarity, let’s explore the confirmed and rumored cameos and variants expected in the film.
Aaron Stanford – John Allerdyce/Pyro (Confirmed)
Aaron Stanford’s return was initially speculated, along with a few other minor X-Men villains, though his appearance was later confirmed in the trailer. While he only briefly appears on screen, his unmistakable costume leaves no doubt about his identity. Earlier this year, he had denied any involvement in the movie.

Marvel has unveiled a new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, its upcoming R-rated comic book epic starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as our titular, foul-mouthed heroes. The trailer is soundtracked by Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” and full of F-bombs — including this summer’s superhero catchphrase, “Lfg.”
Directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things), the film finds Deadpool (Reynolds) teaming up with a Wolverine (Jackman) — but not the Wolverine we’ve seen in past X-films. No, this one has apparently let his entire world down, which feels like a nod to the classic comics storyline Old Man Logan. And that beloved story gets referenced elsewhere in the trailer when it’s revealed that someone (Emma Corrin’s big bad Cassandra Nova?) is using a giant, dead Ant-Man as a base.
The shot of Ant-Man’s helmet opening also reveals appearances from Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu in X2: X-Men United) and...

Dallas Liu’s Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation has already shown us how the actor can handle CGI fire, and that puts the character in the running for a host of pyrokinetic characters across media. However, one character that Liu himself wishes to essay is a race-bent Pyro, the character from the X-Men with the exact powerset as Zuko.
Dallas James Liu in Avatar: The Last Airbender
Liu has already essayed a role in the MCU, appearing in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as the younger brother of Akwafina’s character, but that has not deterred the actor from voicing his MCU wishlist, which includes the pyrokinetic mutant Pyro, who is set to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, played by Aaron Stanford (who will be reprising his role back from his X-Men days)

And to the surprise of many, an Og Avenger made the trip to Deadpool land.

With Deadpool & Wolverine being the only film from Marvel Studios getting a release this year and Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking meta-humor nature, it stands to reason that the company has a ton of fun with the marketing. Even before being part of the MCU, the first Deadpool film got to play around with concepts as 20th Century Fox released the R-rated movie on Valentine’s Day in 2016. Billboards of Ryan Reynolds and his romantic lead, Morena Baccarin, were showcased in a very rom-com-driven image that made it look as far from a vulgar, violent superhero comedy as it could be.
It was said that the Deadpool & Wolverine footage previewed at this year’s CinemaCon was preceded by a PSA that also featured both characters. The Hollywood Reporter is now revealing that the PSA may now be coming to a theater near you. In the spot, Reynolds’ Wade Wilson is...

There may be minor Spoilers in the footage description. Be warned. After several disappointments in the past year, Marvel Studios is looking to get back on track with Deadpool & Wolverine. This highly anticipated sequel will bring ol’ Wade Wilson into the MCU and finally team him up with Wolverine. The audience at CinemaCon in Las Vegas got a peek at some exclusive footage from Deadpool & Wolverine, which will make you wish the movie was coming out tomorrow.
Deadpool and Wolverine actually opened Disney’s presentation with a foul-mouthed “turn off your cell phones” PSA. It showed Hugh Jackson in full costume and featured the pair yelling directly at the audience. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased that the film will receive an “intentionally gross” popcorn bucket to rival the one from Dune: Part Two.
Finally, CinemaCon audiences were treated to nine minutes of Deadpool & Wolverine, which Feige called “F***ing amazing.

While Disney and Marvel Studios are trying to keep a tight lid on the specifics, it's crystal clear that "Deadpool & Wolverine," aka "Deadpool 3," will most certainly be chock-full of cameos. But for the time being, we can at least rule one cameo out of the festivities as Vinnie Jones has revealed that he won't be reprising his role as Juggernaut in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film. He was offered the chance to do so, but it just didn't pan out.
Jones previously played the hulking mutant in 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand." During a recent interview with Variety while promoting his new Netflix show "The Gentlemen," Jones was asked about the possibility of returning in "Deadpool & Wolverine." The actor was direct and said that he was offered a role by director Shawn Levy, but it was ultimately too much of a hassle for Jones to justify:...

“It’s such a drama putting that suit on,” said Vinnie Jones, explaining why he turned down the chance to play Juggernaut in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Besides the title characters played by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool & Wolverine will include a whole raft of superhero cameos from what we can gather (assuming superheroes hang around on rafts).
One actor who won’t be reprising a familiar role, though, is Vinnie Jones, last seen as Juggernaut in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Jones revealed that he’d been asked whether he fancied reprising his role as the heavyweight villain in this summer’s latest opus. But despite having an affection for 2016’s Deadpool, Jones turned the role down – due to the physical and mental toll of putting on the old costume again, and also because of his less-than-happy memories of making X-Men 3.

Aaron Stanford is returning to the MCU, as it was revealed in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer released during the Superbowl on Sunday. He is reprising the role of Pyro which he portrayed in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.

To say that all eyes are on Wade Wilson in 2024 is an understatement. With most superhero movies struggling to make a dent at the box office last year, studios will next look to the performance of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine as a referendum on the state of the genre. Fortunately, Ryan Reynolds‘ latest turn as the Merc with a Mouth looks absolutely insane in the first trailer, which premiered during Super Bowl Lviii.
As the trailer reveals, Deadpool is stepping into the multiverse with the help of Matthew McFayden’s mysterious Marvel character and the Tva from Loki. But he’ll have some other big-name allies, too.
Watch the trailer below:
We already knew Hugh Jackman was coming out of superhero retirement to reprise his role as Wolverine for the ninth time, this time in the comic book accurate yellow suit that will also delight the X-Men: The Animated Series fans in the audience.

"Star Trek: Picard" shares more than a little DNA with "12 Monkeys." In its third season, the recently ended "Trek" sequel series was captained by showrunner Terry Matalas, who co-created the wild Syfy Channel adaptation of Terry Gilliam's also-wild film. Aside from a shared showrunner, "Star Trek: Picard" was home to several key cast and crew members who worked on both shows – and nearly featured one more.
In a Reddit Ama about the show's third season, user Drewski1138 pointed out several narrative choices in "Picard" that echoed "12 Monkeys," including references to a mysterious red realm, a new drug called "Splinter" (a reference to "12 Monkeys" time travel), and more. "Were there any '12 Monkeys' Easter eggs we might have missed ... Were there any that you were told you couldn't put in?" the user asked Matalas. The answer? No, but there was one Easter egg that never came to...

Aaron Stanford, who played Seymour Birkhoff on The CW show Nikita, addressed the possibility of a revival.
Nikita aired on September 9, 2010 and lasted four seasons. Its final episode debuted on December 27, 2013.
A lot went down during the big finale. Some of these big plot points should be familiar to those who watched the show: Nikita and Michael got married while staying in the game, Birkhoff exposed Shadownet to the public, and Alex seemed happy as an international ambassador.

What’s Bad: The movie doesn’t know what it wants to be, or what it is, and the entire plot feels pointless.

Hollywood is overflowing with stories about films that took years of blood, sweat and tears to bring to the screen. Brian Helgeland’s Finestkind represents one of the longest kinds.
The Oscar-winning screenwriter of Mystic River and veteran director of such films as Legend, 42, A Knight’s Tale and Payback finished the script when he was 28. He’s now 62. “The joke is that I wrote it before Toby Wallace and Jenna Ortega were born and Ben Foster was 10 years old. It’s very strange, but everything happens for a reason. I just had to wait for this whole cast to grow up so I could cast them,” he explained at the film’s West Hollywood premiere on Tuesday referring to his actors who star opposite Tommy Lee Jones, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Aaron Stanford, Scotty Tovar, Tim Daly, Lolita Davidovich and Clayne Crawford.

At the beginning of Bryan Singer's 2003 superhero film "X2: X-Men United," the title teens are enjoying a school field trip to the local Natural History museum. The kids don't get out too often, as they attend a special school for superpowered mutants, a class of people hated by the populace at large. While they are sitting in the museum cafeteria, a pair of bullies approach Pyro (Aaron Stanford), Iceman (Shawn Shamore), and Rogue (Anna Paquin) asking Pyro for the use of his cigarette lighter. Pyro denies them, and they snatch his Zippo out of his hands, lighting up immediately. Pyro, possessing the superpower to expand fires, winks his eye and causes the bully's lit cigarette to explode, setting his jacket on fire. Iceman, who can fire ice blasts from his hands, extinguishes the fire. Showing off their powers in public is verboten, as they run the risk of being...

Loyalty, family and sacrifice will come to a head in a tight-knit fishing village in December, and today, Paramount has released the trailer for crime drama Finestkind, which stars Ben Foster, Toby Wallace, Jenna Ortega, and Tommy Lee Jones.
As per Paramount, Finestkind “tells the story of two brothers (Foster and Wallace), raised in different worlds, who are reunited as adults over a fateful summer. Set against the backdrop of commercial fishing, the story takes on primal stakes when desperate circumstances force the brothers to strike a deal with a violent Boston crime gang. Along the way, a young woman (Ortega) finds herself caught perilously in the middle. Sacrifices must be made, and bonds between brothers, friends, lovers, and a father (Jones) and his son are put to the ultimate test.”

"You live. You die. It's the inbetween that counts." Paramount+ has unveiled the official trailer for a fishing industry crime thriller called Finestkind, the latest from writer / filmmaker Brian Helgeland. This premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival last month, and is being released directly on streaming on Paramount+ in December this year. Ben Foster, Toby Wallace, Tommy Lee Jones, and Jenna Ortega star in this film about a crew of fishermen who tread dangerous waters after their debts start piling up. Set against the backdrop of commercial fishing, the story takes on primal stakes when desperate circumstances force the brothers to strike a deal with a violent Boston crime gang. With another brilliantly imposing performance by Jones, the film also reveals itself to be a story about fathers who can’t always be the best examples for their sons. Tommy Lee Jones has yet to anchor a series in Taylor Sheridan’s vast TV universe — but at least he’s starring in an upcoming film from the producer, the crime drama “Finestkind.” You can watch the brand-new trailer for the Paramount+ film above.

We’ve got dadcore porn here. If you’re a father and you’ve ever wondered if you led your son astray, you could live vicariously through Ray Eldridge (Tommy Lee Jones) and Dennis Sykes (Tim Daly) and know you can always come through at the eleventh hour. Because even though the motto at the heart of Brian Helgeland’s Finestkind is that the time between birth and death is what truly matters, the film reminds us you can actually right all your wrongs from that in-between with a final expression of love. Apology, hug, pile of cash, bullet, or all the above.

For an hour, Finestkind is the kind of movie they don’t make any more, and just when you’re starting to adapt to its gentle, circadian rhythms (which is about halfway through), it becomes the kind of movie they make all the time. Though it just about works, it’s a curious hybrid of emotional felladrama and gangster realism, something writer Brian Helgeland has essayed before, notably with his script for Clint Eastwood’s Mystic River. A few years back, this could have been a Malpaso production too, and it’s not hard to imagine Eastwood in the role played here by Tommy Lee Jones, an awards-friendly supporting role that gives the veteran actor his very own mini-Gran Torino.

The existence of the 21st century itself is almost inconceivable. Ask any one who was around in 1999 how they felt about the incoming year 2000 and they’ll be happy to tell you how surreal it all felt. Hell, they may even be nice enough to give you a non-perishable treat from their Y2K bomb shelter.

It was a key scene in the second episode of what has become a triumphant final season for Paramount+’s science fiction series “Star Trek: Picard.”
A corrupt crime boss named Sneed — from a hyper-capitalistic alien race called the Ferengi — has a cat-and-mouse-style conversation with a woman pretending to be an addict who is actually an undercover intelligence operative. Played by Aaron Stanford, Sneed is streetwise, confident and relishes the game he’s playing, dumping the decapitated head of a former associate on a table to prove the operative is lying.
And when Armin Shimerman, one of the first actors to play a Ferengi on TV, saw Stanford’s work as Sneed, he admits it brought one feeling above all.
Envy.

This post contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Star Trek: Picard" season 3.
It has long been an issue with "Star Trek" that life outside of Starfleet has never been solidly defined. Most of the Trek shows and all of the movies take place on ships or space stations, and the bulk of characters wear uniforms and adhere to a military-like chain of command. In the mind of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry, this type of formalism is key to humanity's utopian future. Everything, he seems to have felt, can be talked out in accordance to mature, rule-based parameters. Everything within Starfleet is designed to enhance humanity's stronger impulses and tamp down on its baser instincts toward greed and colonialism.
But not everyone in the universe of "Star Trek" is a member of the Federation. Indeed, there are many worlds that actively reject Starfleet ideals, hoping to retain their addictions to money,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Episode 3 “Seventeen Seconds.”] Raffi (Michelle Hurd) gets at least one answer in the latest Star Trek: Picard: the identity of her handler. Fans knew it was Worf (Michael Dorn) after he saved her when her meeting with Sneed (Aaron Stanford) went south (“I told you: Do not engage”) in the previous episode, but it’s when she comes to that she does. He shares that he has learned that one must access calm, so he’s been working on himself, and he can see that she has a heart of warrior. But still, she does wonder why she does the things she does to herself, thinking about her life, family, and sobriety as she goes through withdrawal. Working together, they learn that they’re dealing with Changelings, a powerful enemy of the Federation, and another attack is coming. They ...

The 21st Rule of Acquisition teaches us “Never place friendship above profit.” By that measure, no one has proven to be less Ferengi than Terry Matalas. The Star Trek: Picard showrunner has always made a point of including his friends in his series, even if only in fun cameos. Take season two of Picard, which saw Impractical Joker Brian Quinn drop by as a dog walker in Guinan’s bar, or the addition of 12 Monkeys star Todd Stashwick to the Picard cast as USS Titan Captain Liam Shaw (Matalas co-created the Syfy series). It’s clear the showrunner likes inside jokes, even if the audience doesn’t always get it.
That tendency is on full display in the latest episode of Picard season 3, “Disengage.” While investigating the terrorist attack from the last episode, Raffi’s now-unofficial Starfleet intelligence mission leads her to a Ferengi criminal called Sneed.
