Toye was principal conductor with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from
1919 until 1924. He was instrumental in bringing the Gilbert and
Sullivan opera 'Ruddigore' back to the public's attention in the 1920s,
helping to slightly restructure the opera, and composing a brand new
overture for it. He was a regular guest conductor for the D'Oyly
Carte's London seasons, and later tried his hand at composing film
scores.
