Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" has likely inspired more nightmares than any other TV series in history. Several of the show's notorious twist endings often revealed horrors and grotesquerie typically not seen on the airwaves in the late '50s and early '60s, leaving younger viewers rattled and afraid.
The above image, from the episode "The Masks" came at the end of an episode where a quartet of greedy gold-diggers were forced to wear personality-based masks by the rich patriarch they hoped would die. The patriarch does indeed die, but when the characters remove their masks, they find their faces have mutated underneath. That one kept this author up a few nights.
Other scary faces popped up all across "The Twilight Zone." Many might immediately think of the episode "Eye of the Beholder", which was wholly a close-up of a young woman (Maxine Stewart) waiting to remove her bandages after extensive cosmetic surgery.

Frederick Kohner penned a novel about his young daughter, who was emersed in the growing surfing community as a teen in the 1950s. Her summer experiences inspired the book. Kohner likely never imagined that his book would spawn a cultural phenomenon. It did just that. The book eventually spawned a franchise of films and television projects that brought viewers on Francie ‘Gidget’ Lawrence’s summer adventures. Over the years, several actors have taken on the role of Gidget. Do you remember them all?

Michael Constantine, who played Gus, the father of Nia Vardalos’ Toula Portokalos in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” by far the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, died on Aug. 31. He was 94.
Constantine’s agent confirmed the news of his death to Variety. He died of natural causes.
“My Big Fat Greek Wedding” scored a domestic gross of $241 million in 2002; No. 2 on the list is “What Women Want” with $183 million. The film drew a SAG Awards nomination for outstanding performance by the cast of a theatrical motion picture.
As Roger Ebert recounted, Constantine’s Gus “specializes in finding the Greek root for any word (even ‘kimono’), and delivers a toast in which he explains that ‘Miller’ goes back to the Greek word for apple, and ‘Portokalos’ is based on the Greek word for oranges, and so, he concludes triumphantly, ‘In the end, we’re all fruits.’ ”

Emmy flashback 50 years to 1970: 1st wins for ‘Sesame Street’ and a breakthrough for Black actresses
It’s been half a century since David Frost and Danny Thomas hosted the 22nd Emmy Awards, and there are many moments that remain memorable 50 years later. A shift in audience’s tastes during this time can be seen in the nominees from this year, as quite a few new series received nominations and wins, there were some anomalies in the comedy categories and one actress made history, while another shocked viewers with her behavior. Here’s a flashback trip back to June 7, 1970, and shag carpet, TV dials and hoping to get your antenna just right so that you could watch the star-studded gala.

Who’s up for a road trip? I’m guessing most folks are, after being cooped up for much of this year. Well, since things aren’t quite back to normal, perhaps a cinematic one would fill the bill. Maybe a state to state jaunt would be in order, with a somewhat shady duo behind the wheel ala’ Smokey And The Bandit or Thelma And Louise, perhaps just indulging in an occasional “dine ‘n’ dash” or a “fill-up and flee”. Oh, and aside from the authorities, some roughnecks are on your trail. That’s the elements of the new comic crime caper Easy Does It. But with these dimwits churning up dust, nothing is ever easy (especially for the audience).

Sorry, Wentworth, we'll wait for the cliff notes.

* Including, but not limited to: drunken dares, drunken expressions of misplaced affection, drunken and hilarious misunderstandings about what those Chinese symbols mean.
What is it about tattoos that provokes such debate? For every, "Tattooed guys are hot!," there's a,"Gross! How could someone do that to their body?"
The latter is a passionate argument, but we here at AfterElton.com believe in free artistic bodily expression, and if that means providing examples of hot celebrity guys with tattoos to prove our point, well, we're up to the task!
These men have used tattoos to enhance their already palpable appeal, and prove that bodies can be works of art.

Charles E. Conrad, one of the entertainment industry's most distinguished acting teachers, died Oct. 29 of kidney failure in Port Townsend, Wash. He was 84.A disciple of famed acting coach Sanford Meisner, Conrad made his own mark at his Cec Studio in Burbank, which he opened in the 1960s after a move from New York. There, he taught Kim Basinger, Dennis Quaid, Ali McGraw, Keith Carradine, Michelle Pfeiffer, Diana Ross, Carl Weathers, Joanna Cassidy, Teri Garr, Linda Gray, Valerie Perrine, Victoria Principal, Penny Marshall, Chuck Norris, Suzanne Somers, Karen Valentine, Ed Begley Jr. and Lindsay Wagner, among others.Like Meisner, Conrad relied on the "repetition exercise" of learning scripts (fast repetition of the words until they are memorized). He believed that the technique would enable the actors to work in a highly intuitive state, spontaneously and naturally reacting to one other.Conrad's directorial thesis of Anton Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya" earned...
