If you grew up reading Arnold Lobel’s books or have kids you’ve shared the award-winning adventures with, Apple TV+’s “Frog and Toad” animated series serves as an extension of the characters you know and love. At least that’s the main goal for showrunner Rob Hoegee, who also loved the books as a child.
“These are iconic characters just begging to be pulled into an animated show,” Hoegee told IndieWire. “My goal was to have a faithful adaptation of the books to preserve the characters as everyone remembers them.”
Like the book series, “Frog and Toad” follows best friends who enjoy the things they have in common while embracing their differences. The voice cast includes Nat Faxon and Kevin Michael Richardson as Frog and Toad, respectively, alongside Ron Funches, Fortune Feimster, Cole Escola and more.

A series adaptation of the beloved Frog and Toad books is coming to Apple TV+. The streamer announced the new series Wednesday, as part of its spring kids and family slate. It’s set to premiere Friday, April 28 on Apple TV+.
The series is based on the Caldecott and Newbery Award-winning four-book series by Arnold Lobel published by HarperCollins Children’s Books.
Per Apple: Frog is a frog. Toad is a toad. They have a lot in common… but they are also very different. Frog and Toad are best friends who know that the true secret to friendship is not only enjoying the things you have in common, but embracing the things that make you different. Our differences are what makes us special, and Frog and Toad celebrate them in what makes them unique.

Following the huge success of the Japanese originated “Pokémon” series in the ’90s, we began to see various studios creating shows around creatures with special abilities. We saw “Monster Rancher,” “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends,” “Lilo & Stitch,” and now “Abby Hatcher.”
The show “Abby Hatcher” is a Canadian computer-animated series about the eponymous character and her best friends — the Fuzzlies, some furry, zany creatures with unique special abilities — who live with Abby at her family’s hotel. The Fuzzlies often get themselves into trouble leaving Abby Hatcher and her favorite Fuzzly-friend, Bozzly, to fix their messes.
The TV show premiered in the United States on Nickelodeon on January 1, 2019. It premiered on TVOKids in Canada on February 11, 2019, and Channel 5’s Milkshake! block in the United Kingdom on Mar. 2, 2020.
“Abby Hatcher” is created by Rob Hoegee and produced by Guru Studio and Spin Master Entertainment, the producers of the popular “Paw Patrol” series.

It's always a big risk tinkering with a much-loved classic - particularly something that was a big part of people's childhoods - but the creative forces behind Thunderbirds Are Go! have promised that this 2015 revamp of the '60s Supermarionation series retains all that made the original so great.
Indeed, die-hard fans will be happy to hear that a good deal remains unchanged - from the off, Peter Dyneley's stirring countdown-to-launch and the subsequent swell of that classic theme tune deliver a rush of glorious nostalgia.
But it's also more than a mere nostalgia trip, with enough changes put into place to ensure that the show works as colourful, engaging fodder for the 6-11 year-olds of today.
As befits a modern series, and one intended primarily for children, the pace is utterly relentless throughout - a lack of incident is certainly not a problem that Thunderbirds Are Go! suffers from.

Thunderbirds Are Go! has an action-packed launch, but its script and CG are far from top-notch. Will the revamp live up to its potential?
This review contains spoilers.
1.1 Ring Of Fire
Not only are the Thunderbirds gang back, they’ve also been appended with “are go!” - and boy, do they ever go. Sylvia and Gerry Anderson’s much-loved show, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, screeches and blasts its way on to the small screen and doesn’t hold up for 45 minutes or so.
The puppets, and their charm it has to be said, may have been replaced by computer-generated characters, but the iconic ships and Tracy Island remain, for the most part, as beautiful standing-set models produced by Weta (The Lord Of The Rings).
This first instalment, which sees two episodes aired together as one, neatly introduces to the International Rescue troupe. All the Tracy brothers remain, though...

Thunderbirds Are Go! head writer Rob Hoegee has accounted for Jeff Tracy's absence from the animated revamp.
A pivotal character in the original '60s series, Jeff was the father of the Tracy brothers and head of International Rescue, but Hoegee recently confirmed in a Reddit Ama that he will not appear in ITV's new reboot.
Speaking at a press screening for Thunderbirds Are Go! last night (March 31), Hoegee clarified the decision, suggesting that Jeff's absence allows the show's younger characters to "shine".
"Jeff Tracy is not a character that can be sidelined or minimised in any way shape or form," he explained. "He is a huge presence - in the world of Thunderbirds and on the screen - [and] the show we're making right now couldn't be about Jeff Tracy - it has to be about the boys, and Kayo (Angel Coulby).

February brought the intriguing news that the Weta Workshop team will be involved in a new take on Gerry Anderson’s classic Supermarionation series Thunderbirds, this time with spiffy animation and far fewer shots of hands moving levers. ITV's new series brings in Rosamund Pike as voice of Lady Penelope, with David Graham returning as chauffeur Parker

Cinelinx keeps the salt off of the Slugterra: Return of the Shane Gang DVD!
The Set-up
In this Disney Xd animated series, a young man named Eli Shane joins the family business of Slugslinging, a combat form in which fighters shoot slugs from guns at each other. This DVD features five episodes from the series.
The Delivery
Sometimes, you enjoy watching artistic, sophisticated animation, and sometimes, you want to see slugs being shot from guns. For those latter instances, Slugterra is here to fill that need. This entertaining animated series, shown on the Disney Xd network, is a load of fun, despite the ludicrous premise.
Using CGI painted to look like traditional animation, Slugterra has a unique look that certainly appears better than the cheap-o CGI many cartoons use. It's obvious the producers are trying to give us a quality show, instead of another product commercial. Even so, Slugterra...

When we mourned the death of Thunderbirds co-creator Gerry Anderson back in December, our thoughts turned to whether anyone would now try to bring his most famous series back to screen. Well, someone has decided to give it a shot, with ITV Studios and New Zealand’s Pukeko Pictures collaborating on Thunderbirds Are Go!Keeping the basic concept intact – the five Tracy brothers overseen by dad Jeff pilot their various rescue vehicles around the world to sort out disasters and other problems – the new show will (naturally) blend CG and live-action model sets to create an initial 26-episode order in 2015.No casting has been announced for the show yet, but Teen Titans veteran Rob Hoegee has been named as the head writer. The UK’s ITV Studios is teaming with New Zealand-based Pukeko Pictures and Weta Workshop to co-produce Thunderbirds Are Go!, an update of the classic kids series that debuted in 1965. Twenty-six half hours have been ordered for air on ITV and Citv in the UK in 2015. The original Thunderbirds was created by Gerry Anderson, who passed away in December. In syndication, the high-tech tales of adventurers rocketing around the world to fight evil-doers became a staple of Saturday morning and weekday afternoon programming in the U.S. The series also spawned feature films and inspired South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s Team America: World Police. The new series will be produced using a unique mix of CGI animation and live-action model sets while also paying tribute to the legacy of...
