Disney has been making many changes to attractions over the past few years, claiming that they are “insensitive” or “offensive” to guests. However, some could argue they have a double standard as they allow “R-rated” characters like Deadpool and Wolverine into their Disney California Adventure theme park.
I am going to start by making it clear that I am not offended by the duo’s appearance in Disneyland performing their “story time” comedy. But it is interesting to me that the Walt Disney Company is allowing this while worrying that Dr. Facilier and Voodoo may be “offensive” to guests, so they didn’t use him in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Recently, Deadpool made a joke about reading Disney+’s terms of service, which was clearly a dig at their latest legal fiasco: They tried to use those same Tos to force a wrongful death suit to arbitration.

As X-Men ’97 made a big splash with fans on Disney+ this year, the behind-the-scenes story proved to have its own bit of drama. Just a week before the animated revival was to premiere on the streamer, Marvel had mysteriously let go of the creator of the show, Beau DeMayo. Circumstances around the separation have still not been fully revealed, but at the time of DeMayo’s departure, he had also done work on season 2 of the show. Recently, DeMayo posted on his social media that Marvel will not credit him for the second season with the post saying, “Above is #XMen fan-art I posted on Instagram for Gay Pride in June. On June 13, #Marvel sent a letter notifying me that they’d stripped my Season 2 credits due to the post.”
DeMayo had been revealed to be one of those developing the script to the chronically troubled Blade movie and he continued in his post,...

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers from Deadpool & Wolverine.
While Fox largely made Wolverine a very popular character in the mainstream, other characters in the X-Men franchise were largely relegated to secondary character status. However, under Marvel Animation, Beau DeMayo was able to revitalize the IP completely, bringing these characters to the forefront and turning in a superhero tour de force at a time when other studios were also busy releasing bangers like Invincible and The Boys.

However, despite the many nominations and awards that might be on the way for Disney and Marvel thanks to the show, series creator Beau DeMayo has revealed to audiences on Twitter that he has not yet received any invitation from either the House of Mouse or its comics division to attend the Emmys.

While the Pirates of the Caribbean film series became an iconic franchise thanks to the maverick genius of Johnny Depp, veteran actor Geoffrey Rush was equally instrumental in its blockbuster status. The Oscar winner who starred as the wily Captain Hector Barbossa in the 5 films, fed off Depp’s Jack Sparrow perfectly to create a brilliant chemistry.

Interestingly, Rush in addition to not initially comprehending the reasons for his return in the subsequent installments, confessed that he rejected the offer to play this now evergreen role. In a 2015 interview, Rush spoke about all this and the character that proved to be feather in his already crowded cap.

Over the past week or so, Apple Music has slowly unveiled the titles included in its list of the “100 best albums.” Today, the top 10 albums were revealed, with Miss Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill claiming the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the top five are Michael Jackson’s Thriller; The Beatles’ Abbey Road; Prince’s Purple Rain; and Frank Ocean’s Blonde.
The top 10 also includes Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life; Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city (Deluxe Version); Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black; Nirvana’s Nevermind; and Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
In all honestly, it’s a pretty safe top 10, especially considering the drama that unfolded when Apple unveiled picks 11-20 and slotted Adele’s 21 at No. 15 and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at No. 18 — ahead of albums like Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds,...

Red Water Entertainment has snapped up North American distribution rights to the single take thriller “Failure!” led by Ted Raimi (“The Quarry”).
This Mexico-u.S. co-production, shot in an unbroken 87-minute take, follows business tycoon James (Raimi) as he faces a crushing bank debt deadline. With time running out, he contends with treacherous associates, deceitful friends and haunting pasts, and is forced to choose between financial collapse or murder.
Directed by Alex Kahuam (“Forgiveness”), “Failure!” is believed to be the first time a Mexican filmmaker has made a feature film without cuts in the U.S.
The cast also includes Merrick McCartha (“Senior Year”), Melissa Diaz (“Ruthless”), John Paul Medrano (“Seven Days”), Daniel Kuhlman (“Voodoo Macbeth”) and Noel Douglas Orput.
The film gained a boost after bowing at the inaugural Fantastic Pavilion Galas, the Cannes Film Festival market’s genre showcase that was introduced in 2023. It has since screened at Frightfest,...

In 1982, anthropologist Wade Davis traveled to Haiti on a mission: to investigate documented cases of zombiism, specifically cases of people who had been declared dead but who then miraculously came back to life. Davis immersed himself in the very real world of Haitian voodoo, witnessing an array of unbelievable rituals and fascinating rites, prompting him to write the book The Serpent and the Rainbow, which would go on to become a bestseller. Referred to in certain circles as a sort of real life Indiana Jones, Davis’ profile rose and, of course, Hollywood came calling, hoping his tales of voodoo and mystery might translate into a spectacular big screen adventure. Davis was wary of Hollywood and worried the adaptation of his book would bastardize his accounts, but hoped if the right people were involved, his story would be given a respectable treatment. As is often the case in the City of Angels,...

DreamWorks Animation has delivered a Halloween treat: gateway horror series “Fright Krewe” has been renewed for a second season.
Look for the supernatural war brewing in New Orleans to continue when Season 2 comes to Hulu and Peacock in 2024.
“Fright Krewe” is Created and Executive Produced by Eli Roth & James Frey. The series is also Executive Produced by Joanna Lewis and Kristine Songco.
In the 10-episode series, ” An ancient prophecy and a Voodoo Queen put misfit teens in charge of saving New Orleans from the biggest demonic threat it’s faced in almost two centuries. But, honestly? Saving the world might be easier than becoming friends.”
The first season of 10 episodes recently debuted on Hulu and Peacock on October 2. In my review, I wrote that the inaugural season “offers enough supernatural charm, heart, and whimsy to endear Soleil and her friends to viewers, hoping to see their ascension to full hero in the future.

The historic city of New Orleans also happens to be one of the most haunted and rich in supernatural folklore. That makes it the perfect setting for “Fright Krewe,” an animated gateway horror series from creators/executive producers Eli Roth and James Frey. The 10-episode inaugural season charms for its adolescent spin on Voodoo, folklore, and a demonic ancient prophecy that’s never quite as scary as high school.
Soleil (Sydney Mikayla) loves New Orleans for its open embrace of all things spooky. That love also means she’s a bit of an outsider at school. Soleil is comfortable as a loner, but that changes when an ancient prophecy gets triggered by the awakening of a dormant demon. Soleil, along with fellow peers Maybe (Tim Johnson Jr.), Missy (Grace Lu), Stanley (Chester Rushing), and Pat (Terrence Little Gardenhigh), is tasked by Loa spirits with the job of saving the city.

This Castlevania review contains spoilers.
When Netflix’s Castlevania animated series first released in 2017, it was nothing short of a miracle: at last fans had a video game adaptation that was not only worthy of its beloved source material but was also a hell of a lot of fun to watch in its own right, especially in its early, Dracula-focused seasons. Netflix got the formula very right back then and its sequel, Castlevania: Nocturne, largely nails it too, even if its 8-episode first season sometimes drags in the middle.
Set in 1792, about 300 years after the adventures of Trevor Belmont, the events of Nocturne unfold during the chaos of the French Revolution, a very suitable backdrop for all the gruesome violence that ensues at the crack of a Belmont whip. Returning directors Sam and Adam Deats go for broke with action sequences that extract every last ounce of blood, guts,...

Plot: Billie is plagued by blackouts and strange visions that lead her to discover she’s stuck in a series of time loops, possibly related to her mysterious new girlfriend.
Review: Dementia is one of the scariest things I can think of. Losing the ability to access your own memories and being unable to recognize your loved ones is downright awful. So I was really interested when they brought up the concept and seemed like that would be the main idea at play Jagged Mind. I feel silly being so wrong. What starts as an interesting idea with our lead Billy seeing her death over and over, unable to properly comprehend time, swiftly devolves into a near Lifetime movie. Or maybe that was just the lighting.
Knowing that this started as a short film, First Date, (as part of Hulu’s Bite Size Halloween) I can see elements that carried over here.

Richard Elfman redefined underground cinema with his barely-categorizable 1980 film Forbidden Zone, a vehicle for his musical unit The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo. He re-energized absurdist cinema with the musically-propelled sci-fi comedy Aliens, Clowns &- Geeks (2021). Directed and written by Elfman, the upcoming Bloody Bridget is another music-driven piece with a score by Ego Plum and Richard’s brother Danny Elfman.
For Bloody Bridget, Elfman is infusing new blood, and plenty of heart, into the vampire genre he thought he’d staked with the 1998 cult horror movie Revenant (aka Modern Vampires). Richard’s wife Anastasia Elfman plays Bridget, a dance horror choreographer who is sexually harassed and tossed into a legal wringer. Voodoo father Baron Samedi (Jean Charles) mistakes her for his wife, the Irish saint Maman Brigitte, and turns her into a “Valentine vampire.” Blood is just an appetizer for the main course. She “must feast on the hearts of evil-doers,...

Hex, not to be confused with several other films with the same title, opens with a montage of shots, old illustrations of demons, skydivers performing a risky manoeuvre, and blood being dripped on an altimeter as it’s being assembled. So it’s not a huge surprise when it ends with one of the parachutists falling to their death.
Ten years later Sarah is the new girl at the local skydiving club. Payson has been trying to get her to jump with his team, Lisa, Wade, Evan and Greg.
Why is he so insistent to add her to the crew? He wants to attempt The Hex, the risky and allegedly cursed formation jump we saw go wrong in the opening scenes.
