When you think of Ashlee Simpson, there’s probably only one image that comes to mind: her lip-syncing snafu on SNL, in which she went to perform her second song of the night, only for the playback to trigger her first song, “Pieces of Me”. She had been caught going full Milli Vanilli. And to get herself out of the situation, Simpson basically la-la’d her way off stage while doing a jig, leaving her band behind to “play”. Twenty years after the incident, Simpson is remembering the moment as a life lesson. But this may not be the case for others who also made some serious bonehead moves on SNL…
It’s extremely rare for musical guests on SNL to go through gaffes of Ashlee Simpson’s magnitude: musicians like Elvis Costello would instead raise intentional hell by playing whatever song he wanted, while Sinead O’Connor used her moment to send a message.

Speaking on the Broad Ideas With Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen podcast, the singer explained that the performance, which saw her lip-syncing her single “Autobiography,” taught her how to pick herself back up.
“I had done my rehearsal the night before and then I woke up the next day and I couldn’t speak,” Simpson explained on the podcast episode. “I saw the voice doctor that day and I had two nodules beating against each other.

When Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage launched The O.C. in 2003, it would change TV — and teen dramas — forever.
It’s a winding journey that the duo captured with the help of Alan Sepinwall, Rolling Stone’s chief TV critic, in Welcome to The O.C.: The Oral History. Across 11 chapters — and a prologue that teases the wild ride — the trio, along with the cast, writers, crew members, producers, journalists, fans and studio and network executives, trace the show from its early origins to its very last days on set, and beyond.
Not only would the show bring Savage and Schwartz together in what has become one of TV’s most fruitful partnerships with Fake Empire Productions, but it would go on to inspire a library of young adult shows, from Gossip Girl (and its reboot) and The Carrie Diaries to Marvel’s Runaways and Looking for Alaska; multiple reality...

“Welcome to The O.C., bitch!”
With those five immortal words, a cultural phenomenon was born.
The brainchild of a then-25-year-old Josh Schwartz, and guided by the steady hand of his producing partner Stephanie Savage, The O.C. ran for four chaotic seasons on Fox before sailing off into the sunset (or, in the case of poor Marissa Cooper, crashing in a fiery wreck).

The series was praised for flipping the tropes of the genre, and, of course, for introducing the world to fan-favorite Seth Cohen. Over its four seasons, some episodes stood out more than others as especially great television.

Rachel Bilson was a huge Justin Timberlake fan. Therefore, she went all in when she got the chance to shoot her shot with the triple threat in the early 2000s. However, her attempts at flirting turned “embarrassing” instead of romantic.
Rachel Bilson’s flirty actions toward Justin Timberlake didn’t go as planned
In an interview for her and Olivia Allen’s podcast Broad Ideas, Rachel Bilson discussed a moment with Justin Timberlake she would rather forget. The Accused star admitted she tried flirting with the superstar, but things didn’t exactly go as planned.
“In our day, [Timberlake] was very big, right? Like, the biggest. Sorry, no disrespect — he’s still very big,” Bilson said.
“We were all at a party or something, and he was there, and I was so obsessed with him,” Bilson continued. “[Bilson] went up to him, obviously, or he came to [Bilson],” Allen said. “I got drunk...

Rachel Bilson wants to clarify a few things after her podcast comments drew a sharp rebuke from The View’s Whoopi Goldberg.
To recap: Bilson admitted on a recent episode of her Broad Ideas podcast that she might have judged a guy she’s dating “if a dude’s in his 40s and he’s slept with, like, [only] four women.” She later backtracked, saying: “It all depends. Maybe he’s been in, like, decade-[long] relationships, which is fully respectable… It’s not fair for me to say, either way.”

Sam Wineman, a producer and director on Shudder’s fall 2022 Queer for Fear: The History of Queer Horror docuseries, has filed a lawsuit that names AMC Networks, Shudder, executive producer Bryan Fuller and others as defendants, and alleges, among other things, quid pro quo sexual harassment (by Fuller), intentional infliction of emotional distress, and the cultivation of a hostile work environment.

With the streaming bubble bursting and entertainment companies retooling their vision for the future of television, it seems like every new day yields a polarizing series cancellation. From viewership stats to marketing pitfalls and budgetary concerns, TV series are seeing the plug pulled at a seemingly faster rate than ever before — in some cases, after production has been completed and even before they’ve had a chance to air.
For example, after outcry over recently canned series like “1899,” “First Kill” and “Warrior Nun,” Netflix’s new co-ceos Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters said they have never canceled a “successful show.” Platforms like AMC, Starz, Showtime and HBO Max have pulled shows despite having the majority of filming finished or nearly done so. And for Hulu, journalists and audiences raised disappointment following the cancellation of “Reboot.”
At the same time, some shows across networks and streamers are coming to a close; conversely,...

The actress opened up about meeting the pop star back in the day and how it didn’t go well.
Justin Timberlake was once the object of Rachel Bilson‘s affection back in the early 2000s, but their flirtatious moment at a party took an unexpected turn, according to revelations made during Bilson’s podcast.
During Monday’s episode of her “Broad Ideas” podcast, the 42-year-old actress shared her encounter with the pop sensation at a party during their early years in Hollywood.
“In our day, Justin Timberlake was very big, right? Like, the biggest. Sorry, no disrespect — he’s still very big. We were all at a party, or something, and he was there, and I was so obsessed with him,” Bilson began, hesitating momentarily, before saying, “I can’t tell this story.”
However, her co-host, Olivia Allen, picked up where she left off, divulging how she inadvertently sabotaged the flirty encounter.

During a rare appearance in Los Angeles, Bill Hader and Ali Wong were seen holding hands.
The photos, which were shot on Wong’s 41st birthday, showed the couple grinning as they hiked close to her house. Bill Hader, 44, wore a red T-shirt, grey sweatpants, and a baseball cap for the excursion, and Wong wore a black shirt, black trousers, and a straw hat.
Following their trek, the couple—who were both decked up in sunglasses and identical sneakers—left for a dinner celebration in honor of Wong’s birthday. Shortly after Hader’s agent announced that he was seeing Wong right now, the couple was spotted.
Only after they had allegedly broken up were they first linked in December 2022. Then, in a recent interview, Hader made mention of his “girlfriend” earlier this month.

The O.C. featured a cast with significant age differences, with actors in their twenties playing high school students, but they still portrayed their characters well. Ben McKenzie, who played Ryan, was 25 years old when the show began, while Mischa Barton, as Marissa, was just 17, making her the youngest member of the main cast. One of the adult characters, Sandy, played by Peter Gallagher, was also significantly older than his character.
The O.C. aired from 2003 to 2007 and is one of the staple teen dramas from the aughts, partly thanks to its iconic cast. As the name of the Fox television series suggests, it took place in Orange County (The O.C.) in Southern California and ran for four seasons before the network canceled it. The show's catalyst was when Ryan Atwood, a troubled teenager from a broken home in Chino, moved in with the Cohens, a wealthy family living in an upper-class community in Newport Beach.

The show's catalyst was when Ryan Atwood, a troubled teenager from a broken home in Chino, moved in with the Cohens, a wealthy family living in an upper-class community in Newport Beach.

The O.C. left some unresolved storylines, like the identity of Theresa's baby's father, which keeps audiences engaged and the show alive in cultural conversations. The open-ended nature of Theresa's baby mystery allowed for interesting narrative tension and kept Ryan and Theresa connected yet distant throughout the show. Along with Theresa's baby mystery, The O.C. also left other unanswered questions, such as the disappearance of household staff and the sudden reveal of Caleb's financial troubles.
Although The O.C. came to an end in 2007, it left a couple of unresolved storylines that some are still trying to figure out, including the question of who’s the father of Theresa’s baby, something that the series hinted at but was never resolved. Created by Josh Schwartz, The O.C. debuted on Fox in 2003 and concluded in 2007. Though it became one of the most popular teen dramas of the 2003-2004 season and received very positive reviews,...

Casting choices greatly impacted The O.C., with Rachel Bilson originally wanting to play Marissa Cooper but excelling as Summer Roberts instead. Mischa Barton's portrayal of Marissa added depth and chemistry to the show, making it hard to imagine anyone else in the role. Rachel Bilson's performance as Summer Roberts brought charm and wit to the show, creating a fan-favorite couple with Adam Brody's character Seth.
Had The O.C. gone with an alternative casting choice for one of its characters. the entire series would have been completely different. Running from 2003 to 2007, The O.C. was a teen drama that focused on troubled teen Ryan Atwood after he is adopted by Sandy and Kirsten, along with several other colorful characters in his life. The O.C. has since evolved into an iconic teen show, and much of that is due to the strength of its cast performances.

Killing off Marissa in The O.C. was a mistake, according to the show's creators. It was a forced decision that ultimately angered fans. The show was already struggling in its third season with darker storylines, Marissa's death was just one part of the show's decline. Despite the negative fan reaction, The O.C. managed to improve in its fourth season by infusing humor and charm back into the show, giving viewers a rewarding ending.
While The O.C. was wrong to kill central character Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) in the way they did, the character's exit ultimately helped the show. Created by Josh Schwartz, The O.C. became a cultural touchstone in the early 2000s. Running for four seasons, The O.C. followed troubled teenager Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie) as he began a new life with the wealthy Cohen family. Despite its success, The O.C. began to run into issues around the time of its third season,...

Nick Viall is spilling the beans on his “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” co-star Tom Sandoval.
Following the announcement of the reality competition series’ season 2 cast earlier this week, Viall shared his impression of Sandoval, given that filming for the show began after news broke of his affair back in March — the reality star cheated on his ex-girlfriend Ariana Madix with their “Vanderpump Rules” co-star Raquel Leviss, who now goes by her birth name Rachel.
On the latest episode of Nick’s “Viall Files” podcast, the “Bachelor” alum claimed that Sandoval, 40, smuggled in some photos of him and Leviss while filming “Special Forces” in New Zealand, even though it was prohibited.
