- Played bass for infamous shock rock punker GG Allin in 1990 and was writing music for an album when Allin was sent to prison in Ann Arbor, MI. Allin died soon after his release and only 3 of the rough tracks were recorded.
- Attended a casting call for Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining' for the role of Danny, but didn't get the part.
- Nominated for Best Soundtrack at The 2009 B-Movie Celebration Golden Cob Awards, but lost to John Carpenter's 'Halloween' soundtrack.
- Top 10 finalist for George Romero's American Zombie Horror Film Festival 2009 with 'Maybe...'.
- "Unofficial" winner of Home Run Inn's 2008 Halloween Video contest, finalist in 2009, and completed the trilogy of 'The Unexpected Guest' commercial shorts in 2010. All three were a nod to classic Universal monster movies with Kahler portraying all the characters in each as well as performing all production/ post-production work himself.
- 'Christmas with Billy' has been screened every semester as part of an English and Literature class in Yavapi College in Arizona since it's YouTube release in 2009.
- Winner of Exile Asylum's Gory Holiday Writing Contest 2010 for his short story 'Eugene Learns to Laugh Again'.
- Winner in 2012 24 Hour Film Race Chicago division for Best Special FX in Lloyd Miller's 'Lawn Zombies'.
- Winner of the 2012 Curd Off Championship at The Madison Horror Film Festival.
