Netflix’s forthcoming drama Black Rabbit, starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law, is filling out its cast.
Oscar winner Troy Kotsur, Abbey Lee, Odessa Young and Robin De Jesús will have regular roles in the limited series, which comes from creators Zach Baylin and Kate Susman. Seven actors — Amir Malaklou, Don Harvey, Forrest Weber, Francis Benhamou, Gus Birney, John Ales and Steve Witting — will have recurring parts. They join the two stars and the previously cast Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Sopé Dìrísù, Dagmara Dominczyk and Chris Coy.
Bateman and Law will play brothers in Black Rabbit. Law’s character, Jake, is the owner of a New York hotspot, and when he lets his turbulent brother (Bateman) back into his life, he opens the door to escalating dangers that that threaten everything he’s built.
Among those dangers, based on descriptions for some of the new castmembers, is the criminal underworld.

Summer’s tentpole rumble continues this weekend with Paramount’s seventh Transformers movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which is heat-seeking $155 million at the worldwide box office for its opening frame, $100M of that offshore.
The movie reps a concentrated reboot by the studio of the long-in-tooth robots-in-disguise franchise, which has suffered in latter installments from declining ticket sales. This is the second Transformers movie not directed by Michael Bay after 2018’s Bumblebee (though Bay still produces), and looks to distinguish itself from the fray with its introduction of the robotic animals from the Hasbro franchise. Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. is at the helm and the movie stars In the Heights’ Anthony Ramos and The Deuce and Judas and the Black Messiah’s Dominique Fishback. The pic cost a net $195M co-financed by Skydance.

The trend of canceling projects in production continues to haunt fans of content providers in the U.S.
According to Variety, the embattled AMC has canceled 61st Street Season 2 and Invitation to a Bonfire.
The cancellations come as AMC is in belt-tightening mode, much like several other companies.
The news for 61st Street comes after production on the second season is completed, which is even more aggravating for fans of the series who invested time in the first season.
As you will likely recall, the drama series was picked up for two seasons when it landed a formal order in 2019.

However, AMC shared first-look photos for the second season following the first season finale.

Prime Video dropped the latest trailer for The Peripheral, the long-gestating sci-fi drama from Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s Kilter Films that’s based on the bestselling novel by William Gibson.
