Ah, the mellifluous refrain of Lily Tomlin’s Ms. Frizzle warning: “Strap in, kids. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.” How many lazy afternoons were spent learning about the digestive tract from the inside of an intestine, or flying inside an exhaust pipe to fix a faulty engine and learn what a carburetor is? Now, it’s time for the next generation to surreptitiously learn about science at the urging of an eccentric, frizzy-haired teacher. Netflix released the first trailer for its reboot of “The Magic School Bus,” a beloved and educational kids’ show that ran for four seasons from 1994-1997 on PBS Kids, titled “The Magic School Bus Rides Again.”
Ms. Frizzle, originally voiced by Lily Tomlin, will now be played by Kate McKinnon, rightful heir to all things funny and wacky. The only thing missing in the passing of the baton is Ms. Frizzle’s signature frizzy hair,...

SNL and Ghostbusters star Kate McKinnon has been cast as the voice of Ms. Frizzle in Netflix's upcoming series Magic School Bus Rides Again. McKinnon is the perfect actress to take on this character. Hell, she's so perfect it makes me wish she were playing a live-action version of the character.
According to THR, the series will feature "a modernized Ms. Frizzle and her class along with an inventive high-tech bus. The series will also highlight the latest tech innovations such as robotics, wearables, and camera technology to -- like in the original series -- encourage children's interest in science."
This sounds like it will be a fun series for kids to watch. The voice of Ms. Frizzle in the original series was provided by Lily Tomlin. I never really watched the original series, but I have read many of the books written by Joanna Cole because of my kids.

The Magic School Bus 360° will target school-aged children as did the PBS series, which focused on science and technology lessons and was based on the book series by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degan. Netflix has ordered 26 episodes of the reimagined series to launch on in 2016, with original executive producer and Scholastic president Deborah Forte returning to produce. “Scholastic Media is a powerhouse creator and producer of top-quality programming for kids and families and its flagship series like The Magic School Bus, Clifford The Big Red Dog and Goosebumps have been huge hits on Netflix in all our territories,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix. “We’re...

The Project Runway All Stars season premieres this Thursday (January 5th). I'm working on a theory that my favorite designer Mondo Guerra has won. Let me know what you think. Reasons are as follows:
1.) He is literally the best ever. This fact is super indisputable.
2.) Please see his answer to my first interview question below. Going back to normal life was more difficult this time???? Is it because his life has changed drastically???? Am I just putting a ton of question marks at the end of my sentences to imply something???????
3.) He seems like he has something to celebrate, because he's hosting weekly viewing parties every week at Beauty Bar in Denver starting this Thursday (which features a special guest, his Project Runway buddy Michael Costello). Each party has special games and prizes geared around the episode, and February 16th will be a super special benefit for Colorado AIDS...

The winter TV drought is over! A whole crop of new shows are premiering this week and many more new and old favorites are back from hiatus. Whatever you choose to watch this week, just don't let it be "Work It" on Tuesday ... otherwise ABC might be tempted to make more.
Monday, January 2
"The Bachelor" (8 p.m. Est, ABC) season premiere
Winemaker Ben Flajnik is the lucky (if dull) bachelor seeking a second chance at love after falling short of winning Ashley Herbert's heart during last season's "The Bachelorette." Twenty-five women will enter the mansion, including one enthusiastic senior citizen named Sheryl, a sexy equestrian who arrives on horseback, and an athletic soccer player. But which 18 will make it through to next week?
"Hoarders" (9 p.m. Est, A&E) season premiere
The sometimes disturbing, always fascinating reality series is back for a fifth season, focusing on a man called Norman...

Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel) may be leaving 20th Century Fox’s 3D remake of the 1966 classic sci-fi adventure Fantastic Voyage, if the two sides can not come to an agreement on the budget and star.
THR reports it’s “more likely than not” that Levy will move on. The director reportedly wants an A-list actor to lead the feature’s team of scientist’s in a miniaturized submarine tasked with removing a blood clot from a colleague’s brain. Hugh Jackman, who stars in Real Steel, was the front-runner for a time, but is presumably busy with Fox’s own The Wolverine. Instead, Levy wants Will Smith, a reliable box office draw, and will meet with him to discuss the possibility in the coming week.
Voyage is simply the latest example of a major studio balking at the big-budget pricetag of a potential tentpole release, similar...
