Jerrod Carmichael is addressing criticism he’s received over a joke made in his new HBO series.
In a recent episode of the Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, the comedian said:
“My boyfriend, he makes me smarter, he makes me read. I have so many books. Realistically I’m not gonna read all those books. He knows that. But the fact that I bought them says I love you. They’re little monuments around my apartment, just like, ‘Look at this book from Amazon that I’m never gonna read.’”
He then added, “I sometimes joke to him that our relationship is like that of a slave and a master’s son — who, like, teaches me how to read by candlelight.”
In the episode, which was during a live stand-up show, the joke seemed to fall flatter than Carmichael expected, with some people in the audience groaning and hissing. “Yeah, he...

Mike Pence may have officially dropped out of the 2024 Presidential race, but “The Daily Show” guest host Charlamagne tha God sees his announcement a little differently.
“It’s like turning down sex when you have erectile dysfunction. The choice was made for you already, my guy,” Charlamagne tha God said Monday night.
The comedian also quipped that Pence dropped out “to spend more time in a separate bedroom from his wife” and asked “Is it really ending your campaign when your campaign never got off the ground to begin with?”
But as his opening monologue continued, the comedian admitted that he feels bad for Pence. Charlamagne tha God explained that his chance to become President was over the second he decided to “do the right thing and not overturn the election.”
“He had to get the same people who wanted to hang him to hire him,” Charlamagne tha God said.

During his second night guest hosting “The Daily Show,” Desus Nice had a special segment for Comedy Central viewers: ripping into a guy he doesn’t like, DJ Envy.

DJ Envy, weighing in on rapper Fifty Cents’ mic throwing incident, has come out and called the rapper one of the nicest people he knows, despite him coming across as a big bully of sorts on social media.
Talking about the rapper, he said that while he hasn’t met Fifty Cents (or 50 Cents) in a while, Envy also labeled the media calling the rap sensation as a bully, ‘utter hogwash’, saying that it was all just likely an accident.
“There’s no way in hell. I mean, 50. You know, everybody sees Fif (another name for 50 Cents) as this big bully online, but he’s like, the nicest and most caring person,” he said according to Aceshowbiz.
50 Cents had earlier during his concert in Los Angeles had thrown a mic in the crowd which ended up hitting a woman on the head, who was standing right in front of him.

Last September, the Nigerian artist Davido was a guest on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, one of rap radio’s most popular morning shows. “You got American people singing Nigerian music,” said DJ Envy, one of the co-hosts. But even as DJ Envy praised Davido songs like “Fall” and “If,” the notoriously skeptical co-host Charlamagne Tha God remained unimpressed. “What song is it?” Charlamagne wondered. “I ain’t never heard it.”
Seven months later, Davido has pushed afrobeats — weightless, polyrhythmic pop songs often sung partly in English — to a completely new level of global popularity.
