A group of people stuck in an isolated location being terrorized by enigmatic and very possibly supernatural forces residing just outside the barriers of their refuge, all of which feels more like a waking dream than events taking place in the real world? "The Watchers" is a Shyamalan joint alright, just not the Shyamalan who gave us thrillers like "Signs," "The Village," and "Knock at the Cabin." This intriguing big-screen take on A. M. Shine's novel of the same name instead comes from writer and director Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night and a first-time feature filmmaker looking to mark a splash after helming multiple episodes of the acclaimed Apple TV+ series "Servant" (which M. Night also worked on as a producer and director) and doing second unit work on some of her pop's pictures since his return to low-budget thrillers around a decade ago, starting with "The Visit.

Coming from the writer of recent slow-burn horror The Wind, the slightly oddly-titled Lovely, Dark and Deep, tells the story of a park ranger looking for answers from a childhood tragedy while she walks alone through the wilderness.
I guess it should be no surprise that this movie could also be called a slow burner but don’t go thinking that this means the first half or more of the film is boring or that nothing of note happens. Because Lovely, Dark and Deep grabs its viewers right from the start. But, there’s no doubt that the pace picks up towards the climax of the film and the movie leans more into horror the longer it goes on.

The daughter of an iconic horror filmmaker making a thriller about a father sacrificing himself? Just don’t call it meta.
Caitlin Cronenberg’s directorial feature debut “Humane” is a family thriller starring Peter Gallagher as a patriarch whose suicide plan goes haywire, leaving his children (Jay Baruchel and Emily Hampshire) to fight for their own survival. Cronenberg is the daughter of body horror auteur David Cronenberg; her brother Brandon Cronenberg helmed “Possessor” and buzzy thriller “Infinity Pool.”
“Humane” takes place over the course of a single day, set months after a global ecological collapse has forced world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce the earth’s population, per the official synopsis. In a wealthy enclave, a recently retired newsman has invited his grown children to dinner to announce his intentions to enlist in the nation’s new euthanasia program. But when the father’s plan goes horribly awry,...

With M. Night long established and now daughter Ishana stepping up her own career, the Shyamalan family filmmaking business is trundling ahead nicely. Having served as second unit director on Old and being a key member of the Servant creative team, Ishana Night Shyamalan is making her feature directorial debut with The Watched, which stars Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell and Olwen Fouéré. Check out the first trailer for the horror thriller right here:
Fanning here plays Mina, an artist who becomes stranded in a giant, untouched forest somewhere in Ireland. Stumbling on a mysterious glass-walled home, she thinks she might have found safe shelter.
But no! As it turns out, she's soon trapped alongside three strangers who are watched all night by unseen, peculiar creatures. What's really going on? It's a Shyamalan film, so we're expecting some surprises.
Adapted from Am Shine's novel by Ishana Night Shyamalan and produced by M.

We've come a long, long way since the mere mention of M. Night Shyamalan's name at the end of a trailer would elicit jeers from audiences at the movies. For those who haven't been living under a rock throughout the last decade, the once-infamous filmmaker has completely turned the narrative around thanks to betting on himself and winning big with a series of well-received box office hits in a row. This culminated with arguably his most ambitious and rather divisive effort yet in last year's "Knock at the Cabin," but those who've been following his work know that he's been killing it in multiple mediums now. The Apple TV+ series "Servant" only further proved that he's got plenty left in the tank, and now he's passing the torch to the next generation of Shyamalans.

Ishana Shyamalan is stepping up, taking the director’s chair from her dad, M. Night Shyamalan, for a new horror mystery flick called ‘The Watchers’. She’s not new to this game, having worked on ‘The Servant’ series and been an assistant director on movies like ‘Old’ and ‘Knock at the Cabin’. Now at 22, she’s ready to scare us with her own movie.
‘The Watchers’ is grabbing attention already, with New Line Cinema backing it and big names like Dakota Fanning starring. It’s based on a book by A.M. Shine, where a 28-year-old named Mina gets stuck in a creepy forest in Ireland with three others, and they’re all being watched by something eerie. Sounds like a mix of ‘Cabin In The Woods’ and ‘Lost’, right? You can check out the trailer below to get a taste of what’s coming.
The story pulls you in right from the start.

If there's one thing horror movies have taught us, it's that the woods are a scary place. "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown," H.P. Lovecraft once wrote, and what's more unknowable than the deep, dark woods? I'm not talking about tiny patches of trees close to highways or Walmart parking lots. I mean the unexplored, uncharted wilderness, so thick with greenery that sunlight only breaks through in tiny open spots. Who knows what could be lurking out there? Wild animals, sure. But maybe, just maybe, something else, too.
"Lovely, Dark, and Deep" — the title comes from Robert Frost's poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" — is the latest horror movie to warn us about the woods. Here, cosmic horrors lurk within all those trees. Strange, unexplained happenings are just around the bend.

Back when we heard that Georgina Campbell was starring in the psychological horror film Lovely, Dark, and Deep, she was best known for winning a BAFTA TV leading actress award for her role in the 2014 TV movie Murdered by My Boyfriend. Since then, we’ve seen her name around here quite a lot, due to her roles in films like All My Friends Hate Me, Barbarian, Bird Box: Barcelona, T.I.M., and the upcoming The Watchers, Cold Storage, and Psycho Killer. As for Lovely, Dark, and Deep, it’s set to receive a VOD release on February 22nd, and we have the trailer embedded below.

Warner Brothers has been undergoing some restructuring since it was merged with Discovery. This has caused some uproar in their release schedules and even caused some films to be shelved altogether. Just when things seemed to stabilize, two industry strikes again caused chaos across the board. So, what can we look forward to for the Warner Brothers 2024 release schedule?
Dune Part Two – March 15th
The second installment of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune saga hits theaters. The first one fought against a Covid release but still earned a respectable amount at the box office. Fans of the property seem excited to check out this one, so it should be a decent hit. If the box office is sizable enough for the WB, then a third film will be on the way, as the director has commented that he has already started writing it based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah.

"A beguiling cosmic nightmare." XYZ Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie horror psychological thriller called Lovely, Dark, and Deep, which marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Teresa Sutherland. The film originally premiered at Canada's Fantasia Film Festival and Toronto After Dark Film Festival, and also at the MOTELx Lisbon Horror Film Festival last year. Lennon, a new back-country ranger, travels alone through the dangerous wilderness, hoping to uncover the origins of a tragedy that has haunted her since she was a child. While adapting to her solitary existence in the wilderness, she becomes aware of a lurking, sinister presence. Georgina Campbell stars as Lennon, with a small indie cast including Nick Blood, Wai Ching Ho, Edgar Morais, Ana Sofia Martins, and Soren Hellerup. This looks way, way creepier than you're probably expecting - especially when it gets weirder as this super eerie trailer plays out. // Continue...

From the sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey to the more recent horror hit M3GAN, genre entertainment has always found a way to make artificial intelligence feel dangerous. And as the latest movie to capitalize on AI anxiety, Spencer Brown‘s T.I.M. goes down a familiar path. Barbarian star Georgina Campbell eventually falls victim to something originally designed to make her character’s life easier. Yet unlike past stories where the threatening technology is out to overthrow its human makers, this movie’s namesake does the unexpected: it falls madly in love.
The plot of T.I.M. sounds more like a rehashed “Treehouse of Horror” story from The Simpsons than a horror movie, but Brown and co-writer Sarah Govett make their outlandish pitch work. Rather than an automated house going awry, though, the script delivers a humanoid AI robot who goes completely off script.

"I hope to bring you a life of ease and pleasure." Brainstorm Media has reveal a new US trailer for a kooky UK sci-fi thriller called T.I.M., made by filmmaker Spencer Brown. What if M3gan but about a sexy robot instead of a child's doll? That's pretty much the concept here. The sci-fi AI thriller, T.I.M. This past January, Blumhouse had a big hit with “M3GAN,” their PG-13 thriller about a murderous A.I. doll. Writer/director Zach Cregger’s horror film Barbarian (watch it Here) was a financial success when it was released last year, and it also received a lot of positive word-of-mouth. New Line Cinema was so impressed by it, they forked over $38 million to pick up Cregger’s mysterious new horror project, Weapons. (Beating out Jordan Peele and Universal in the bidding war.) New Line then signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, the production company behind Barbarian. They have since set up two other projects, a sci-fi thriller called Companion and a haunted house movie called Occupant, that Cregger will be producing. But while the filmmakers move on to other ideas, Barbarian does still has life in it. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting report that a Barbarian video game is now in the works!

“Barbarian,” Zach Cregger’s 2022 horror hit, is getting the video game treatment, with a single-player “all-new narrative experience” being developed for consoles and PC.
Diversion3 Entertainment, the studio behind horror video game adaptations for “Friday the 13th” and “Evil Dead,” is leading development on the “Barbarian” game, in association with New Regency Pictures. The game will be based on the “characters and creatures” of the movie.
Starring Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård and Justin Long, “Barbarian” follows a young woman who books a rental home in a bad part of town, only to find a man already staying there. Convinced that the nearby hotels are all booked up due to a local conference, and because it’s late at night, she decides to share the rental with the stranger, against her better judgment. Soon, she discovers there is a lot more to worry about than an unfamiliar housemate.

Zach Cregger‘s hit Barbarian is the latest horror movie to get a video game adaptation for PC and consoles, courtesy of New Regency Pictures and Diversion3 Entertainment. Bloody Disgusting has the exclusive scoop on the upcoming video game this afternoon.
Diversion3 Entertainment will lead the creative team adapting Barbarian in video game form. Having Diversion3 Entertainment on board is a big deal right off the bat, as the company previously worked on both Friday the 13th: The Game and Evil Dead: The Game.
“We’re very excited to work with the team at New Regency to expand on the settings, characters, and creatures of Barbarian,” said Tim Hesse, Executive Producer of Diversion3 Entertainment. “The film did a magnificent job of not only scaring audiences with its unexpected and horrifying twists and turns, but also in establishing strong characters thrown into terrifying situations.
“We look forward to exploring these themes further in the game.

Susie Fox, Mackenzie Roussos and Chelsea Mckinnies have joined Entertainment 360 as partners. No one is commenting but I hear the trio have closed deals with the management company and have already started there, using work emails.
Entertainment 360 emerged as Fox, Roussos and Mckinnies’ next destination about two weeks ago when they resigned from another management company, Range, where they had been founding partners for more than three years. I hear their Range exit has not been finalized yet, with a settlement being negotiated.
