On a show like 1923, where the cast famously had to attend “cowboy camp” to gain frontier skills ahead of starting production, we weren’t surprised to learn that Brandon Sklenar did his own stunts for Episode 6’s shipwreck scenes.
However, we never pictured the training for those scenes taking place in a community pool more commonly frequented by early morning lap swimmers, toddlers learning how to float and Aquacizers. (Sklenar will explain in a moment.)

Back in the mid-2010s — before Ann Thomas started her Transgender Talent management company — it wasn’t always easy for Hollywood productions to find trans actors. “They were calling around to LGBT centers: ‘Do you happen to know somebody?'” recalls Thomas, who started the agency in 2015 after appearing on an episode of Glee that featured a 197-person-strong, all-trans choir, many of whose members were found through such untraditional casting methods.
Since then, Thomas has won roles for an array of the company’s trans and nonbinary clients including Zoey Luna (a lead in the 2020 film The Craft: Legacy), Shannon Gibbs (Jackass 4.5) and Emmett Preciado (Good Trouble). “She cares about the job part of it and she cares about the emotions of every single one of the people whom she represents,” Luna says of her manager.

FX’s groundbreaking series Pose is set to walk its final ball. The series co-created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals will enter its third and final season on May 2 at 10pm Et/Pt with its first two episodes of its seven-episode run. The series finale will shablam its way to FX on June 6. The news was revealed during Good Morning America on Friday.
In this final season, it’s now 1994 and ballroom feels like a distant memory for Blanca (Mj Rodriguez) who struggles to balance being a mother with being a present partner to her new love, and her latest role as a nurse’s aide. Meanwhile, as AIDS becomes the leading cause of death for Americans ages 25 to 44, Pray Tell (Billy Porter) contends with unexpected health burdens. Elsewhere, the emergence of a vicious new upstart house forces the House of Evangelista members to contend with their legacy.

“Pose” will end with Season 3 at FX.
The groundbreaking series was renewed for a third season back in 2019. The seven-episode final season is now set to debut on May 2 at 10 p.m. Et, with two episodes airing that night. The series finale will air on June 6.
“’Write the TV show you want to watch!’ That’s what I was told in 2014 while completing my Mfa in screenwriting,” said Steven Canals, executive producer, writer, director and co-creator of “Pose.” “At the time we weren’t seeing very many Black and Latinx characters — that happened to also be LGBTQ+ — populating screens. And so I wrote the first draft of a pilot the ‘younger me’ deserved. Pose was conceived as a love letter to the underground NY ballroom community, to my beloved New York, to my queer & trans family, to myself. I, along with my incredible collaborators, never intended on changing the TV landscape.

A multifaceted FX drama looking at three segments of society in ‘80s New York, including the world of ball culture, Pose was a challenging project to cast, in the sense that it was going where no TV series had gone before.
At a moment in time when onscreen representation is still seriously lacking, particularly when it comes to the Lgbtq community, this series from Ryan Murphy, Steven Canals and Brad Falchuk has made history, boasting the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles ever to be seen on the small screen.
Naturally, the degree to which Pose has pushed TV inclusivity forward made the series a lock for an Emmy nom in the category of Outstanding Casting. At the same time, casting director Alexa L. Fogel—a three-time Emmy winner and eight-time nominee—earned her spot with Pose, putting in many hours and logging...
