Netflix is nearing a deal to order an ensemble comedy series from “Sex Tape” and “Get Him to the Greek” scribe Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, Variety has learned exclusively.
The husband-and-wife team created the series and will serve as writers and exec producers on the untitled single-cam comedy, which sources say will land an eight-episode straight-to-series order. Netflix declined to comment.
The show is about a close-knit group of college friends who are all approaching forty. Two of them have been hooking up on-and-off for two decades and are now married to other people. The series is described as an exploration of what happens to the group’s marriages and friendships when one couple moves. Casting is currently underway.
The greenlight marks a continuation into TV work for Stoller, who made his first major television debut as co-creator on NBC’s sitcom “The Carmichael Show,” which enters its second season next month.
