Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired worldwide rights to the steampunk documentary “Vintage Tomorrows,” setting a release that coincides with July’s Comic-Con, Variety has learned exclusively.
The movie, directed by Byrd McDonald and produced by McDonald, Alan Winston, and Sean Hutchinson, will be released globally July 19 on VOD and digital. It first screened a year ago at Comic-Con and has been set to play at the Seattle International Film Festival.
The steampunk movement is based on design inspired by 19th century steam-powered machinery.
Peter Goldwyn of Samuel Goldwyn Films said, “We live in a world of mass-produced product yet everyone is looking for individuality. ‘Vintage Tomorrows’ showcases uniqueness of character and creativity in a fascinating world that brings the past as well as the future together in a refreshing and entertaining format.”
