The New York Film Festival is honoring Kristen Stewart with one of its traditional “An Evening with” events — the other recipient this year being Adam Driver — that will look back on the star’s impressive career. With Stewart getting this kind of attention, it begs the question: why have some chosen to not take this young talent seriously?
At just 26 years old, Stewart has showcased a talent for taking roles that garner critical praise, embody perplexing characters, and offer up complexities for the audience to digest—this, we have to point out, after rising to fame with the Twilight series.
Stewart has bragging rights for becoming the first American actress to win the César Award, basically France’s version of the Oscars, for her role in the Olivier Assayas-directed movie Clouds of Sils Maria, which was featured at Nyff in 2014.
