Silent Night
December 24, 2018 marked the 200th anniversary of the first performance of "Silent Night" (German: "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht"). Father Joseph Mohr asked Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf, to compose music to lyrics he wrote when the church organ was damaged.
