Worst American Remake of a Non-English Movie
Making an American remake of a great foreign language film into an English spoken version usually is a good idea. After all, sharing a great story with as wide an audience as possible makes a lot of sense. However, despite having bigger stars, larger budgets and the full resources of Hollywood behind them, it is often not enough. These adaptations, more often than not, pale in comparison to the masterwork and magic of the original telling. Which of these select American remakes* is by comparison the most unworthy of its foreign non-English language original? * IMDb rated 6.9- (as of June 2019) Take the companion poll: Best American Remake Non-English Movie Discuss the topic here.

2000s Exploding Domestic Box Office Movie Duds
If you are an American or Canadian and saw any of these great films: You probably didn't see these films in a movie theater, as hardly anybody did. But, you likely regard them to be good enough to be worthy of the price of admission, based on your collective IMDb ratings. When "bad" movies go onto break a $100 million or more in domestic box office receipts regularly, it is hard to fathom how these "good" films couldn't do at least a meager $2.5 million in domestic box office receipts. Despite their poor results, every one of these movies eventually found a HUGE audience. They achieved wide spread viewership through VOD, pay TV, cable TV, broadcast TV, Blu-ray/DVD/VHS, media streaming services or another type of screening. Nonetheless, you are probably like me, scratching your head and wondering why these films didn't do better at the box office. Which of these 2000s movies*, that produced relatively meager North American ticket sales, but went on to be widely seen anyways, is your favorite of the decade? * 90,000+ IMDb votes, < $2.5m Domestic USA-Canada box office, 6.5+ IMDb user rated Vote in the companion poll: 2010s Exploding Box Office Movie Duds Discuss the topic here.

Best Spike Lee Joint
Call him controversial, biased or divisive, now Oscar-winner Spike Lee has never stopped to be relevant ever since he set the template of his groundbreaking art with She's Gotta Have It (1986). He wasn't always political and made many heart-warming drama/comedies but his main work explored with a critical eye and an uncompromising spirit the social, political and interracial climate in the United States during the last fifty years: the 60s with Malcolm X (1992), the 70's with BlacKkKlansman (2018), the 80'/90s with his masterpiece Do the Right Thing (1989) and the post-September era with 25th Hour (2002). Still, for all their activism or personal stances, his "joints", as he always called them, were never devoid of humor, tenderness, a camera wizardry, editing energy and musical sensibility that elevated them to unforgettable cinematic experiences as well as -to use that key word again- relevant. In homage to his first Oscar win, name your favorite Spike Lee's joint? After voting, you might discuss the list here. That's it? that's it! Got it? Got it. Now go!
