The Devil admits to being partly responsible for some of the missing souls, but that there have been other events that have gone beyond his control due to the paranormal creatures and Old Gods of the region. He insists there is a need to change his methods of damnation so that he doesn't lose his authority in the New World. Brother Javier confronts him over these plans and assures the Devil of his intention of counteracting whatever chaotic plans are underway. The Devil, annoyed, makes the Saint lose consciousness and transports him to his convent bedroom. Before Tatuana can complain, The Devil makes her fall asleep too, and carries her to her bed. He then approaches Death alone, which they both know was his intentions from the beginning. The Devil begins to tempt Death with the only thing Death can be tempted with: Stories. The Devil wants Death to release a large number of souls on the Colony of New Castille, and the best part is that the Devil would take the blame for the incident, leaving Death to enjoy and watch the fun.
