Quotes

  • Liz Erickson : Janet, darling, what do you think? Personally, I think Delta Mu.

Janet Shaw : [Sadly]  No, you take Tri U.

Liz Erickson : Oh, don't be silly. We are going to be together.

Janet Shaw : You know very well that Delta Mu is not nearly as good as Tri U. It's a goon sorority. You want Tri U. Take it.

Liz Erickson : Oh, it's not so bad. Besides, we made an agreement.

Janet Shaw : A kid's agreement. Just talk. We didn't mean it.

  • Adelaide Swanson : How'd you do?

Liz Erickson : Tri U. And some others. How about you?

Adelaide Swanson : It's the darndest thing. You never saw so many cards! What made me so popular?

Liz Erickson : Oh, Ad, that's wonderful. You're taking Tri U, of course.

Adelaide Swanson : Nope. I've thought it over. I'm not taking any of them.

Liz Erickson : [Shocked]  You're not?

Adelaide Swanson : No, too much social stuff. Too many phony smiles and that singing. Singing! I'm going to Heiler Hall where I can separate out of my room onto six tennis courts.

Liz Erickson : Oh, it's not just singing. What about the girls? What about the beautiful friendships you make?

Adelaide Swanson : What's the matter with the girls in the dorm? Are they second class citizens or something? Can't I make friends with them without all that singing?

  • Liz Erickson : I know you don't like her, Dallas. But she was so happy at the house. She tried so hard. It meant so much to her to be a Tri U. I just don't understand how you could do this to her.

Dallas Prewitt : Now really, Liz. You're still a pledge. We can't discuss these things with you.

Merry Coombs : We had no choice, Liz. We received word from the dean. Ruth has run up some big bills she can't pay. and that reflects seriously on the house.

Liz Erickson : But, Mary, you know I'm in the same fix. I've been running up bills at Simonson's too.

Dallas Prewitt : Now look, Liz. I hate to be saying this with Ruth so sick inside, but there is a big difference between you and Ruth. We can overlook some things in your case.

Liz Erickson : Oh, I see. You have one set of rules for the girls you want and another set for the ones you don't.

Dallas Prewitt : Say, what's gotten into you? Are you sick too?

Liz Erickson : I don't know whether I care for that sort of thing. I don't know whether if I care for it at all.

Dallas Prewitt : Apparently you don't even care for the idea of being a Tri U.

  • Liz Erickson : What are you doing here?

Chad Carnes : On the way to my French exam. I'm calling in on all my friends and asking them to pray for me.

Liz Erickson : I'll be glad to if you promise to say a few words for me on my math.

Chad Carnes : Good, it's a deal. Uh, still have about half hour. How about coming down to the jug room and having a Coke with me?

Liz Erickson : Can't. I'm on my way to Adelaide's to study.

Chad Carnes : To whom are you trying to impress, Einstein?

  • Liz Erickson : You are not making even a tiny little dent. There are a lot of good things about sororities.

Joe Blake : All right. Go ahead. Elaborate on your theme.

Liz Erickson : Well, even with all the hanky panky, the sorority is such a big part of college life. Why should I miss it?

Joe Blake : Well, you know, when I was a kid, I was always jealous of the boy next door because he had the measles and I didn't. I didn't see why I had to miss it.

Liz Erickson : I didn't see the connection between measles and soroities.

Joe Blake : Ah, but there is, believe me. But I don't think I am bright enough to explain it to you.

Liz Erickson : If the sorority wants you, especially a good one, it gives you a good feeling of belonging. Isn't it natural to want to belong. What about all the clubs, lodges, associations, benefits, ladies' auxiliaries? Geez, I'm out of breath!

Joe Blake : Well, what about them?

Liz Erickson : Oh, I guess I don't think I am bright enough to explain it to you. All right., so I'm silly then. Why do you bother with me? We've had four dates this week.

Joe Blake : And tomorrow night makes five.

Liz Erickson : [Coyly]  You shouldn't have told me. I like being surprised.
