At the end of the film, after Terry Carradine's errant, murdering husband Greg is knocked down and killed by a bus, for helping him to escape justice, she would've been immediately arrested and charged with, at least, aiding and abetting a murderer. Instead of arresting her, the police simply apologise to her for the death of her husband.
