In 1867, a Yankee patrol joins forces with a group of ex-Confederate soldiers in order to cross Apache territory and reach the nearest fort.
According to writer Robert W. Woods, he and co-writer Robert Reeds were replaced by two other writers. The new writers produced a script too similar to the original script so Robert and Robert were rehired and their script was kept.

A soldier is shot in the back with an arrow, then turns around and is shot in the front with another arrow. As he turns, the guide wire for the second arrow is clearly visible against his dark shirt.
