  • Although it only lasted a season Our Man Higgins gained a certain amount of legendary status. Probably it was too British for the American audience.

It seemed like a great idea though, an American family, the MacRoberts, inheriting a butler. It seems as though Frank Maxwell is the last of the MacRoberts clan and he's inherited a rather expensive collection of Queen Anne era silver. It's what's left of the estate and the value is considerable. Coming along with the silver though is Higgins, a gentleman's gentleman.

No doubt Audrey Totter needs help in the household, but can Our Man Higgins handle those American kids and their different culture than what he's used to.

Stanley Holloway plays the title role and he's always entertaining in any role he's in. I remember my grandmother liked this show immensely.

It may not have lasted, but it sure didn't hurt Holloway's career. He did the film version of My Fair Lady and won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for recreating Alfred P. Doolittle.

I think you'll like the show if you ever get to see episodes of it.
