After Mordecai and Curly steal Dooley's truck from the still operation, it is gray. They buy barn red paint to disguise it, and we see Mordecai beginning to brush it on in camp. The grill on the side of the hood is painted, but as Mordecai drives by Strother Martin's shop to pick up Curly, that grill is shiny, and the chrome on it is clearly visible.
