Many times when the camera shot is of the radio and siren box (when Reed or Malloy talks on the two-way radio), they are clearly talking into a Motorola microphone that is plugged into the siren box instead of the radio. This microphone is used when the public address (P.A.) function of the siren box is used to hail people in-front of the vehicle. Also you can see that there is nothing plugged into the actual radio microphone socket which is located on the lower left side of the radio.
At one point the opening credits changed from taking place during the day to taking place at night.
