Is there any actor who casually oozes coolness like Kurt Russell?
As with anyone in Hollywood, the young Russell had to earn his stripes. Upon signing a contract with the Mouse House, he started out anchoring a collection of zany Disney comedies in the '60s and '70s, including "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes," "The Strongest Man in the World," and "The Barefoot Executive," a movie that paired him opposite a chimpanzee. Beginning with their 1979 made-for-tv "Elvis" biopic, however, Russell and director John Carpenter collaborated on a series of highly efficient yet firmly modest genre films, many of which became cult hits and cemented their too-cool-for-school reputation.
Russell has only continued to evolve his legacy in the 21st century, starring in everything from cult favorites as worlds apart as "Sky High" and "Bone Tomahawk" to Quentin Tarantino joints and blockbuster franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Fast...

We all know that Kurt Russell is a true acting legend. The legendary actor made a name for himself as Dexter Riley in films such as The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969), Now You See Him, Now You Don’t (1972), and The Strongest Man in the World (1975), and later continued the success by starring in John Carpenter’s films as hero-turned-robber Snake Plissken in Escape from New York (1981), its sequel Escape from L.A. (1996), the horror film The Thing (1982), and the kung-fu comedy action film Big Trouble in Little China (1986). And while this is just a fraction of Russell’s amazing roles, it is a good indication of how big of a star he was in the 1970s and 1980s.
But, another member of his family, his son Wyatt Russell, is also becoming a popular acting name since his appearance as John Walker / U.S. Agent in the The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) series.

Updated: There has been another round of content removal from Disney+, this time in the Emea region, which consists of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. More than 120 titles have been taken off this week, primarily Disney Channel original movies and vintage Disney live-action films, as well as a few series, including Zeke and Luther, Pepper Ann, So Random and the first three seasons of Nat Geo’s Genius and ESPN/Nat Geo docs.
According to sources, the takedowns were a result of a library title review. There have been several content purges at Disney+ over the last year amid cost-cutting, most notably the removal of a slew of original series last May.
Here is a list of movie titles that are said to be gone from Disney+ in Emea, compiled by Drew Ryan.

Disney has shared a new trailer for their upcoming Disney+ streaming service and it’s over 3-hours long! I don’t know if you want to spend over three hours seeing what Disney+ has to offer when it launches, but you have the option!
Disney+ also posted all of the films and TV shows coming to the streaming service on a super long Twitter thread, which I included below the trailer. As you’ll see there’s a ton of stuff that will be available that will make Disney fans happy. Gargoyles and several other classic 90s animated series are among them along with a lot of old weird films that have been pulled out of the Disney vault.
If you don’t want to watch the trailer or scroll through the Twitter feed, I shared the full list of titles for you. Check everything out below and let us...

I truly believe, that in this vast universe, we are not alone. I also believe, that for whatever (perhaps the very same) reason we don’t always get what we feel we deserve. Such is the case with Search for the Gods (1975), a cracking good yarn and failed TV pilot with Kurt Russell and Stephen McHattie as a couple of adventurers tracking down ancient astronauts.
Originally broadcast March 9th as part of The ABC Sunday Night Movie, Search had to deal with so many cops on the other networks; Kojak and Mannix on CBS, and the Sunday Mystery Movie juggernaut of Columbo/McCloud/McMillan & Wife over on NBC. No matter; Search was shuffled off to die a quiet death regardless of how it performed, and we the viewers were denied a potentially thrilling precursor to The X-Files.

Walt Disney is a genius. Whether you like his movies or not is irrelevant. The work he did legitimizing animation as an art form has brought about many years of great movies and shorts from the likes of Disney, Warner Brothers, Hanna Barbera, and many others. He formed his own movie studio which has turned into a juggernaut, responsible for movies like Pulp Fiction from their Miramax Films brand, Toy Story from Pixar, Beauty and the Beast, and many others. He realized the importance of branding by opening his own theme parks, Disney Land and Disney World. So it begs to question why the last words Walt Disney ever wrote were "Kurt Russell".

They're backkkk!! Production is now underway on the Marvel Studios sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with James Gunn directing once again. Shooting has started and Gunn states, "I couldn't be more stoked." Gunn dropped the first official photo on social media, not actually a still from the movie, but rather an on-set shot showing the whole gang back together again. Chris Pratt returns as Star-Lord, joined by Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, plus Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper voicing Groot and Rocket Raccoon. Everyone's favorite intergalactic heroes can be seen silhouetted in the image below, with more to come as they continue filming over the next few months. Marvel is aiming for release in 2017. Gunn's message on Facebook adds some details to this sequel: "My favorite movie as a small child was The Strongest Man in the World, so I'm glad to announce that, yes,...

Gunn made the announcement on his official Facebook page. “My favorite movie as a small child was ‘The Strongest Man in the World,’ so I’m glad to announce that, yes, Kurt Russell has joined our cast and, yes, he is more awesome a dude than I ever could have imagined,” he wrote. Despite not being nominated for Best Director, Louise Archambault’s Gabrielle managed to pull off what we thought was the impossible (our Leora Heilbronn has pegged the drama as the film that should win, but favored Denis Villeneuve’s Enemy as the best bet) winning Best Motion Picture at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards (a.k.a Canadian Oscars). If the out of synch supposed “live” telecast wasn’t bad enough (all awards including the winning film were announced almost one hour prior to on twittersphere), the show’s producers gave Gabrielle winning producers Luc Déry and Kim McCraw the equivalent of end of toilette paper roll in terms of time.
The voters also choose Gabrielle‘s Gabrielle Marion-Rivard as Best Actress in a Leading Role, while the heavily favored Enemy grabbed five awards, Best Direction for Villeneuve, Best Original Score for the excellent Danny Bensi/Saunder Jurriaans pairing , Best Editing,...

Kurt Russell Teaches Us The Art Of The Steal
By Alex Simon
If you’re a guy of a certain age (think Gen X), Kurt Russell was that actor you discovered as a child who wasn’t just a familiar face on the big and small screen, he was your buddy you grew up with. Not a peer, necessarily, but the cool, slightly older kid who lived next door who you just knew, if you played your cards right, you might grow up to be: handsome, self-assured in sports, with girls and in your place on the planet. Especially if you could hang out with him on a regular basis and learn the tricks to his magic, and magic was something Kurt Russell had from the beginning.
The son of the late actor Bing Russell, best remembered as Deputy Sheriff Clem Foster on Bonanza, Kurt literally grew up on a soundstage,...

Another post-Wrestlemania PPV, another knockout. Cena vs. Ryback at Payback, as was expected, consisted of yet more brutality culminating in another ludicrous ending: an ambulance roof ‘collapse’ that saw Ryback miss out on this week’s Raw entirely in order to ‘sell’ his loss. The highlight of the show, though, was undoubtedly Punk vs. Jericho in a definite contender for Match of the Year.
Del Rio regaining his Championship from Ziggler was the one thing I hadn’t envisioned, nor did I expect him to linger around afterward with a promo prolonged enough to draw impatient heel heat. He did the same thing to open Raw, spouting the same generic heel rubbish about ‘not getting enough respect’ and receiving a different sort of heat from the crowd: apathy. The best cure for apathy is a popular face appearance, so Punk showed up right on cue to disagree with Del Rio and – surprise,...

Former stuntman and director of Snakes on a Plane
The brazenly trashy, cheap-and-cheerful B-movie is more or less defunct in modern cinema. One of its few authentic latter-day practitioners was the film-maker David R Ellis, who has been found dead at the age of 60 in a hotel in South Africa, where he was preparing to make a live-action version of the violent anime Kite.
Ellis came to widespread attention in 2006 when he directed Snakes on a Plane, the exploitation action thriller with a title that doubled as its own synopsis. Samuel L Jackson played an FBI agent on board a flight packed with venomous snakes planted to kill the witness who is in his care. There have been dumber and more precarious murder plots in the movies, but not many.

Hollywood director David R. Ellis, best known for gory genre films "Snakes on a Plane" and "Final Destination 2," died today (Jan. 7) at the age of 60 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The cause of death is unknown.
Ellis was prepping a reunion with "Snakes" leading man Samuel L. Jackson on the anime-adaptation "Kite." He most recently completed second unit directing on the upcoming fantasy film "Winter's Tale" starring Colin Farrell, "Downton Abbey's" Jessica Brown Findlay, Will Smith, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Matt Bomer.
Ellis' career began in acting with roles in Disney's "The Strongest Man in the World" and TV series including "The New Adventures of Wonder Woman" and "Flying High." He then transitioned into stunts in the late '70s and achieved great success throughout the '80s and into the early '90s. Some very sad – and decidedly shocking – news to report today as David R Ellis, perhaps professionally best known to some as the director of Snakes On A Plane and a couple of Final Destination films, has died in Johannesburg at the age of 60.A native of California, Ellis cracked the film world via acting in his younger days, appearing in the likes of 1975 Kurt Russell pic The Strongest Man In The World. He seemed to find his true calling as a stunt man and co-ordinator, orchestrating set pieces for such films as Scarface, To Live And Die In La, Patriot Games, Misery, Days Of Thunder and Lethal Weapon. He made the somewhat natural segue to second unit director and jumped the director's chair with Final Destination 2.From there he went on to make thriller Cellular, the pop culturally iconic Snakes On A Plane, Asylum, The Final Destination and, most recently,...

He may not have been nominated for any Oscars, but for stuntman turned filmmaker David R. Ellis, his goals were more modest. His filmography suggests a director that was aiming for mainstream kudos despite what the critical world might have to say, but unfortunately, his career behind the camera was cut short as he has unexpectedly passed away at the age of 60. Best known for meme-generating "Snakes On A Plane," and two entries in the "Final Destination" franchise, Ellis made his debut as an actor, with a small role in the 1975 movie "The Strongest Man In The World" starring Kurt Russell. But he soon moved into performing as a stuntman and serving as a stunt coordinator, logging credits in a diverse array of films including "Scarface," "To Live And Die In L.A.," "Fatal Attraction," "Patriot Games" and more. He also cut his teeth as a filmmaker as a second unit director,...

If you were a kid who grew up during the '90s, chances are you were probably watching either MTV or Nickelodeon to get your fix of entertainment for the day. And if you watched Nickelodeon, you were probably a fan of “The Adventures of Pete & Pete,” the oddball series featuring two brothers both named Pete and their sometimes surreal adventures growing up in the suburb of Wellsville. Created by Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi -- who were working in the promo department at the still-fledgling network -- 'Pete & Pete' had begun as a series of shorts in 1989 before becoming a regular series several years later. But this wasn’t just any kids program. Not only did it feature an 8-year-old with a tattoo of a topless mermaid named Petunia and a personal superhero wildly gesticulating in skin tight pants but featured recurring guest stars, including Steve Buscemi, Iggy Pop,...

With a third version of The Thing out in cinemas on Friday, Terence examines why a story originally written in 1938 is so enduringly popular…

There is now a third movie in what could now be referred to as The Thing franchise. Like the titular shape-shifting creature, the story and basic premise of The Thing has mutated and adapted to the themes, issues and even fears of the various times in which the films were made.
There has consistently been a new movie version of The Thing every 30 years or so since 1951. The original novella, Who Goes There?, written by legendary sci-fi writer John W Campbell Jr under the pseudonym Don A Stuart, was first published in the 1930s. What makes an icon? Someone so distinctive you can recognize them in silhouette? Colors that contrast in intensely vibrant fashion? Or perhaps what you really need is a damn good symbol.
Whatever combination of design and goodwill that exists in the comic book world, certain heroes have been with us for decades and are simply part of the ether, which makes them prime for the current minimalist trend in pop art.
Anthony Ocasio at ScreenRant took this idea and ran with it when he designed 30 Minimalist Superhero Posters, which include the ol' stand-bys like Batman, Superman, The Flash, etc, along with more recent creations that cut an impressive figure like "The Incredibles," Hit Girl of "Kick-Ass" and "The Simpsons"' irrepressible corporate mascot who "fills your mug with the drug you chug, ohhhhhh yeah"… Duffman!
