- Wealthy businesswoman Eunice Hollander Baines attends her own funeral; jaded hunter Paul Henley becomes the prey; World War II veteran Arnold Greenwood relives his romance with a woman he met in England.
- Lieutenant Arthur Greenwood is a wealthy Army veteran, now widowed, who has come to the island to relive a brief romance that he enjoyed in London during World War 2 with a woman named Francesca Hamilton. Fashion magnate Eunice Hollander Baines has come to the island to "attend her own funeral" so that she can find out which of the people closest to her are loyal and which are not. The attendees include her widowed husband Grant; Grant's personal secretary Connie Raymond; and Eunice's brother Charles. But Eunice's alcoholic sister Liz turns up unannounced. Guilt-ridden bounty hunter Paul Henley's fantasy is to be killed, so that he no longer feels remorse for the deaths he caused. So Mr. Roarke sends Henley on a hunt on the island, with a beautiful young companion named Michelle along for the journey.
