Canada's most famous hosers, Bob and Doug McKenzie, get jobs at the Elsinore Brewery, only to learn that something is rotten with the state of it.
Originally, Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas were not going to direct or write the film but ended up doing both with the guidance of executive producer Jack Grossberg, who had produced films by Mel Brooks and Woody Allen. They were subsequently given a budget of $5 million.
Fleshy-headed mutant. Are you friendly?
Doug McKenzie: No way, eh? Ra-... radiation has made... me an enemy of civilization.
Bob McKenzie: Alpha Base. This is Bob McKenzie. I have a fleshy-headed mutant in sector 16B.
Doug McKenzie: Ahhh! Take off, you hoser.
The van that goes into the water is clearly a different model of van (longer by at least a foot) than the van the brothers drive earlier in the film.
In the original theatrical release, instead of the usual roaring lion in MGM's studio logo, the lion is drunk and belches. Then the camera pans to the side to reveal that the McKenzie Brothers (the main characters in this movie) are playing with the lion's tail. When the lion gets angry, they leave to another room to introduce the movie.
