Actor Robert Z'Dar has died at the age of 64.
The cult star passed away from a cardiac arrest on Monday (April 30) in Florida, his long-time manager Jim Decker told local media.
Z'Dar was known for his tall presence and prominent jaw, which was a result of a genetic condition called cherubism.
He starred in over 120 films including the Maniac Cop trilogy, where he played a former NYPD officer on a killing spree.
The actor also played a prisoner in Tango & Cash, starring Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone.
Z'Dar worked as a police officer for a short period before becoming an actor, soon portraying various villains in the 1980s and 1990s.
His other projects included Soultaker, The Final Sanction and the TV shows Growing Pains and The Flash.

Hollywood is just a trash bin full of chiseled bone structure. Aaron Eckardt, Ben Affleck, and of course Michael Douglas and his dad Kirk are all known for their strong jawlines. But cult actor Robert Z’Dar made those guys look like pikers with his mammoth chin, which he exploited to perfection with a string of nasty villain roles that were B-movie heaven. A Chicago native, Z’Dar is probably best know for starring as Matt Cordell in a trio of Maniac Cop films between 1988 and 1993, but his imposing mug graced over 121 films over the past 30 years.
Those credits include such gems as Hellhole, Beastmaster 2, Tango And Cash (he played “Face”), and the amazing Samurai Cop (he was filming the belated sequel to that one when he died). Z’Dar was a staple of the horror convention circuit and was a genuinely nice guy. He was apparently attending one of...

There have been so many movies called The Caretakers that it's really easy to get confused which one is actually which. However, there's something that this latest one has that truly sets it apart from the pack as it stars Bill Johnson, who gave a much beloved performance as Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
Johnson stars alongside Nick Faust, Michael Coon, Joe Estevez, Brittney Saylor, Pj Woodside, and Steve Hudgins, who also directs.

It's not uncommon for movie and TV stars to make the jump from the screen to the printed page; many well-known actors have capitalized on their name recognition to help boost their profiles as emerging authors. Notable examples include Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings), who found success with his self-published poetry; James Franco (This is the End) recently rolled out a well-received short story collection entitled Palo Alto; and Ethan Hawke (Sinister, The Purge) has won acclaim for the novels The Hottest State and Ash Wednesday. While we don't hear nearly enough about actors from the world of horror and sci-fi making a successful transition to those same genres in print, it's not as rare a phenomenon as you might think. Let's examine the literary legacies of three notable horror stars who carved out thrilling new careers as horror writers... Thomas Tryon Genre Role: I Married a Monster from Outer Space...

Directed by Tony Wash, the Hicktown Entertainment Inc. production follows an undercover drug enforcement agent (Katrina Hill) as she infiltrates a weed farm run by Big Daddy (Haig) and his surrogate daughters. However, she’s surprised to find herself sympathizing with the farmers, and soon is caught in the crossfire between the criminals and her desperate fellow agents. Co-starring Soultaker alums Joe Estevez and Robert Z’Dar, High On The Hog sports big guns, badass babes and enough Bible-belt bloodshed for any horror fan.
Actress Fiona Domenica (who plays daughter Lenore, pictured above with Haig) opened up about the film to Fango, telling us, “The bits I’ve seen from the cut feel quite real. One of my friends saw a little clip and said it was a bit like Red State in how it was shot, even though the story is completely different. There are scenes where I think...

The new trailer for stop-motion animated adventure "Toys in the Attic" fills us with sweet emotion, even though it's not based on the Aerosmith album of the same name.
This European take on "Toy Story" concerns a community of playthings that come to life when no humans are around, which is a good thing too because some of them are so creepy they might get unceremoniously smashed with a golf club if anyone saw them.
"Toy Story" alum Joan Cusack voices a character named Madam Curie (That explains it! All the toys got radiation poisoning!), while Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker voices a teddy bear. Fan fave actor Cary Elwes is back in swashbuckling form as the voice of Don Quixote lookalike Sir Handsome, although the Buttercup/"Princess Bride" reference may be a tad on-the-nose. Incidentally, the character of Buttercup seems to be missing her nose.
We know who to thank for that dialogue too,...

From McM Films and director Michael Merino (The Haunting of Pearson Place) comes a new take on the vampire legend - Drakul starring horror legend Joe Estevez (Soultaker). A group of "Vampire Killers" must stop a handsome JFK Jr type from solidifying his political power and his ultimate goal of starting a new world order.
Sen. Drake is a wealthy, handsome, and well-connected - and perhaps a Vampire? He is on a quest to use his political power to initiate a sinister Vampire rapture upon the world. As Drake pursues increasing political power, he is being hunted by a group simply known as "Cronos". The members of Cronos - labeled as international terrorists - will risk all to save the world from the darkness of Drake and his minions, known as The Drakul.
Drakul is currently in pre-production and is expected to film in spring 2012 in the Washington DC area.

Any horror movie that reunites former "Saved by the Bell" graduates Screech and Lisa Turtle is automatically newsworthy. Toss in Maniac Cop, Joe Estevez, and Eighties pro wrestling superstar Jake “The Snake” Roberts, and you’ve got a serious case of the Little Creeps
Michigan indie filmmaker Brad Leo Lyon sent over a press release regarding the status of Little Creeps, his low budget horror comedy with a cast more impressive than the current season of Dr. Drew’s “Celebrity Rehab”. I’ll pass it along to you since it tells the tale better than I can.
From Brad Leo Lyon, the director behind such horror comedies as Beach Vacancy & College Fright Night, comes Little Creeps where the terror is "half the size, double the trouble".
Little Creeps features an all star cast including Joe Estevez (Soultaker), Robert Z'Dar (Maniac Cop) and Aurelian Smith aka Jake the Snake Roberts (Beyond the Mat). Most importantly though,...

Creation's Weekend of Horrors is returning to the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel this October 15-17, and aside from Bruce Campbell, we haven't known who's going to be there. Well, that's about to change as the first group of guests has recently been announced.
Here's who you can look forward to seeing there:
Bruce Campbell
For the last few decades, Bruce Campbell has been one of the most recognizable faces and entertaining actors in genre cinema and television. Besides starring as "Ash" in the Evil Dead series, he's been seen in films such as Spider-Man and Sky High, played elderly Elvis in Bubba Ho Tep and appeared in now-classic (well, kinda) TV series such as "The Adventures of Brisco County", "Jack of All Trades" and "Xena: Warrior Princess". He can be seen now as former Cold War spy Sam Axe in the USA cable series "Burn Notice". Appearing Saturday only.
