When the T-1000 accesses the police computer at the beginning of the movie, we see that John Connor was born February 28, 1985 and is currently 10 years old. This would mean the film takes place in 1995. Later however, when the T-800 describes the events leading up to Judgment Day, he says Cyberdyne becomes the largest supplier of military computers in three years. That would be 1998, despite the date of Judgment Day given as August 29, 1997 in the same scene.
