  • "MARTIN," in my opinion, is an absolute FOX classic! I've seen every episode, but I still enjoyed it. It's hard to say which episode was my favorite. It would have to be either the one where Martin (Martin Lawrence) gets sick or the one where he gets robbed. However, I think it was always funny when a mishap occurred. I always laughed at that. It would have been nice if all the main characters stayed with the show throughout its entire run. It seems that no one stays with a show throughout its entire run. Everyone always gave a good performance, the production design was spectacular, the costumes were well-designed, and the writing was always very strong. In conclusion, I hope they bring it back on the air for fans of the show to see.
  • Martin doesn't get the credit it deserves as it should be mentioned among the best all-time sitcoms. It stars Martin Lawrence as a talk show host, his girlfriend Gina (Tisha Campbell) and their friends Cole (Carl Anthony Payne II), Tommy (Thomas Mikal Ford) and Pam (Tichina Arnold). Martin also plays a host of other hilarious characters in the show, each one as hilarious as the next. There also a bunch of supporting characters, all that will make you laugh out loud. It's easily one of funniest sitcoms from the 90's. While it's not the best it should at least be mentioned. This show will always be funny and I still watch it when I see it on tv!
  • If you grew up in the 90's then you were probably a fan of Martin. Even if you didn't you should still find this show funny. No one else could've played this role except Martin Lawrence. His physical comedy is what made this show. This show is still just as funny when I watch it today as it was when it was originally on in the 90's!
  • Martin Lawrence is absolutely hilarious in this show; the rest of the cast is extremely funny as well. Martin's physical humor is great, this is maybe the only sitcom that has so frequently made me laugh out loud--really hard. Anytime Martin goes nuts over something he starts making all these weird faces and starts jumping and running around, and it's incredibly, ridiculously funny, and it seems to happen nearly every episode. Watch the reruns that come on late night on USA, you won't be disappointed.

I love this show it had all you need for a good show this was something new for me. I seen a lot of black shows but this was the best one of all but good things have to end when it was over in 1997 but it was a good show.

    Martin
10/10 love this show a classic , Martin is hilarious the cast is awesome they have great chemistry with one another. I always laugh the characters Martin portray are great.
  • The first three seasons of Martin Lawrence's comedy were great, almost brilliant. Lawrence showed himself to be an incredible comedian and impersonator. The show had a crazy energy about it, and it was nice seeing another comedy with an all-black cast succeed.

Unfortunately, the last couple of seasons of the show were horrible. The characters started using established tics and catch phrases as crutches. The writing got very sloppy, almost to where it seemed (to me) the actors were improvising half their lines. And Martin Lawrence, perhaps getting a little too enamored of his own success, got increasingly out of control in real life. How bad did it get? Eventually Tisha Campbell, who played Martin's girlfriend Gina, refused to do scenes with him! There's a point in the last season where you will not see the two actors in the same location at the same time. Like another popular sitcom featuring a stand-up comedian (Roseanne), Martin went in with a bang and out with a whimper. Still, it's worth catching the first seasons of the show to see Martin Lawrence at his best.
  • If you want a never ending rib racking show, Martin should simply be your go to. I've rewatched this series more than 5 times after learning about it in 2013. They don't make shows like this anymore.
  • OK, I don't want to totally insult anyone here, but hear me through, I first saw Martin in 2016.

Now before that I was FIRST familiar with Martin Lawrence from Def Comedy Jam

Then of course Bad Boys and his movies and...this is cleaned up. It feels like the reverse of watching Bob Saget do his standup after only knowing him from Full House.

So maybe it was a great show if this is how you first discovered him...but for people like me it's just heavily watered down Martin Lawrence.
  • "Martin" was my favorite show in the '90s and it still is my favorite show today. I set my VCR everyday to record the episodes that are rerun on USA network. Bill Cosby once called this show a "modern day minstrel" and yet I'm still waiting to see "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids" reruns on Cartoon Network, maybe Mr. Cosby won't allow them to be shown because it would eat at his own guilty conscience. Martin is a comedic genius and the other characters, Gina, Pam, Tommy and Cole contrasted well with his over-the-top style, usually ending up the butts of his jokes. Although at some times Martin would come across as crass and surly, by the end of the show his generosity and warm heart would shine through. Long before Eddie Murphy in "The Nutty Professor", Martin mastered playing multiple characters. From Sheneneh to Mama Payne, Roscoe the snot nosed kid, Otis the security guard, Dragonfly Jones, Elroy the mechanic, white boy Bob and who could forget Jerome "the playa from the Himalayas", Martin amazingly portrayed every different character with their own unique personalities. Some of the funniest moments ever in my opinion came during Martin's interaction with the old lady, Miss Jerri, or Hustle Man (Tracy Morgan at his funniest) and of course you can't forget his occasional visit from Bruh Man from the "fiff flo". If loving this show is wrong, then I don't wanna be right. So, to Bill Cosby and all the other bougie black folks that dissed this show, I'll tell you like Eddie Murphy said in "Raw", shut the f*** up and have a Coke and a smile!
  • To call it hilarious would not be doing it justice at all,it is simply the "bomb" KABOOM!.l wonder why they ever stopped running the show.l will give anything to get the complete series.it takes ingenuity to produce a thing like that & assemble a cast like that too.the characters l like most in the cast are Martin,Pam and Cole.Of course this doesn't mean the others are any less electrifying.l always had to set my video recorders timer to record it whenever l was away & quite frankly the little bits l got recorded l never stop watching.so imagine how it'll feel getting a complete set of all the episodes in a disc.PRICELESS is the word.My friends & l cant wait to get it.
  • "Martin" was probably my favorite show in high school. This was the one show that my buddies and I would come to school raving about the next day. You had to be up on "Martin" or you'd be left out when everyone was discussing their favorite scenes. Whether Martin Lawrence was playing his usually silly self, or Shananae, or Jeromie Rome, or the security guard, or whoever--it was a gas. I'll never forget the episode he fought Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns. HI-LAR-I-OUS.

    Martin
One of my favorite shows I love this sitcom, Martin is hilarious, the whole entire cast is awesome, I love the chemistry between the cast mates, I love all the characters Martin portrays on the show, a classic sitcom.
  • Martin Lawrence is laugh out loud funny! This is my favorite 1990's sitcom next to "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"! I think it's hilarious that Martin Lawrence plays some other characters in the show besides himself. The other characters that Martin Lawrence plays besides himself are Mama Payne, Sheneneh (Martin's neighbor), Otis (the security guard), Jerome (the gold tooth player), Roscoe (the snot-nosed kid), Bob (the white guy), Elroy and many others. Martin Lawrence stars as Martin Payne and the series focuses on Martin's romantic relationship with girlfriend Gina Waters (Tisha Campbell), his job changes from a radio personality (Seasons 1 & 2) to a television personality (Seasons 3-5) in Detroit, and the variety of friends Martin hangs out with along the way: the loud-mouthed and sassy Pam James and his best friends Tommy Strong and Cole Brown. Martin Lawrence is hilarious and I think his friends Tommy and Cole are funny too. This show premiered on FOX back in August 1992 and lasted for 5 seasons until May 1997.

User Rating: 10/10 BOTTOM LINE: HILARIOUS
  • Martin Lawrence is probably one of the funniest comedians I have ever seen. His show "Martin" is hilarious, one of the best shows that was on television. I don't know why they cancelled this show. That was STUPID!!! The show is excellent on every level. the characters are very well-developed and the storylines are hilarious. I love Martin as Grandma Payne.

Overall the whole show is hilarious on many levels and I love it! Rating **** out of ****. (Tied for Second Favorite Show)
  • I really love this show it is hilarious!!! I love how Martin plays the different characters I still watch it today and still makes me laugh!!!! He really has a gift on transitioning in many characters and make it seem so real and with laughter.... I am waiting on this show to come back...I hope he brings it back
  • Martin Lawrence STRUCK GOLD with this classic! His physical comedy was Chaplin level, his wise cracks against Pam reminiscent of George vs Florence or Fred vs Esther, his chemistry with Gina stronger than most couples in television history, and his multiple characters brought the house down! What more could you want? If you want to LAUGH.... and I mean truly LAUGH, check out Martin! Mainstream doesn't give this show credit for being one of the funniest sitcoms of all time! Not to mention, the rest of the supporting cast is wonderful too. From Martin's best friends to the featured characters who come in and out of the show at random times like "Hustle Man" and "Bruh Man from the 5th Floor". For 5 seasons, the laughs never stopped coming! Martin Lawrence cemented his status as a true craftsman of high quality comedy with his efforts on this sitcom. What a giant achievement! History will treat this show kindly because one day people will realize that there's been nothing quite like it before or since.
  • Funniest show that ever aired on television. So sad that it ended so quickly. Better than all these Seinfeld and friends show. It should have gotten more credit. This show was hilarious. I still watch episodes because it never gets old. My all time favorite show with Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Truly amazing! I recommend everyone to watch it. It will definitely make your day. Every time I feel sad and fail a test I just go online and watch Martin and I will feel better instantly. If you've never watch this show, well your life haven't been made yet. This is a very relatable show, romantic and funny. You will enjoy it I promise.
  • Listen when you hear the beginning credits, "Martin, Martin you the man" it was like YES!!! awe Gina!! You go Boy!! I had to buy the DVD complete series 1-5 I found it on Amazon!!! I was so happy!! Great comedians

Funniest I've ever watched! It's still funny today 😂😂
  • This has GOT to be one of the funniest shows ever........this needs to come out on DVD soon. I see so many older shows come out on dvd this needs to be one of those!!!! Martin is one of the funniest shows and I would love to put this on my DVD shelf and share with my friends and family
  • "Martin" is the funniest show of all-time. There has never been a show as funny as this one, but I do hope for another TV show as good or even funnier than this one in the future. Bro' Man steals all the attention every time he's on for those 2 or 3 minutes. I loved Hustle Man, that character had me cracking up. Jerome is truly a classic, as well as the rest of Martin's characters. But to me, Dragonfly was truly the funniest character specially in the episode where he fights outside next to the ATM machine...if you wanna laugh 'til your ribs hurt then you gotta watch that! I wish some day they put this show out on DVD cause I'm sure it has been expected by many for a long time now. Today, the re-runs are being given weekdays at 12:30 PM and I make sure I take my lunch brake around that time to not miss one second of this show. I've seen every episode numerous times and I never get tired of them.
  • I think Martin is one of the best sitcoms ever!!!! Martin himself is hilarious. The cast makes it even better. Whoever thinks that anyone of these characters(Martin,Gina,Pam,Tommy,Cole)were not funny you must not have any type of humor at all. There are many people who likes to put the show down and call it boring, low class etc. I personally think that they are just hating because they aren't getting money. But hey thats how it is when you have money, fame and respect and others don't.I love how the cast worked together to make this show a classic. We need more shows like this. Nowadays we have wannabe shows. Me and my family loves this show!!!
  • I was introduced to this show when i was a little kid and i have been watching it ever since. im glad they still play the show on TV1 because i cant get enough of it. Martin has turned sitcom into a whole new level whether its with its outrageous characters (Sheneneh, Ottis, Jerome etc.) or whether its with the relationship between Gina and his friends. You can never get enough of the hilarious jokes Martin makes about everyone. This truly expresses the tile a laugh out loud show because she show will have you in stomach hurting tears.

Unfortunately the show started to lose its hmf after martin was accused of sexual harassment. The last few episodes were just disappointing and was set as more for children audience than adult audience.
