Mumbai, May 30: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan said that he cannot express his grief on losing Rituparno Ghosh, who died Thursday. The actor said that it was a big loss for the country.
"I have no words for the grief which I am feeling today. The country has lost a great artist," he told the media.
The superstar said that the two had just spoken a few days back.
"We had spoken on the phone a few days back about a film which we wanted to make together," he said.
The filmmaker had won 12 National Awards in various categories for movies like "Chokher Bali", "Unishe April", "Raincoat" and "The Last Lear".

Bengali director par excellence Rituparno Ghosh best remembered for his film Choker Bali passed away in Kolkata earlier today morning. The 49 year old director is said to have suffered from a heart attack which subsequently led to his demise. Born on August 31, 1963, Ghosh shot to fame with his 1994 film Unishe April. Post the film, Rituparno has won multiple National Awards and several acclaimed international awards as well for his filmmaking skills. A director who has mostly favoured recreating and adapting the works of Tagore for his film, Rituparno started his career in advertising making his directional debut with Hirer Angti in 1994. Kolkata, May 30: Condoling the death of genius storyteller Rituparno Ghosh, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday said with Ghosh's demise the state has lost "a golden artist of a golden era".
"This is a very sad day for us. Bengal has lost a golden artist of a golden era. Entire Bengal is saddened," Banerjee told reporters outside the late filmmaker's residence at south Kolkata.
Director of landmark films like "Unishe April", "Bariwali" and "Raincoat", Ghosh passed away Thursday morning following a cardiac arrest, family sources said. He was 49.
He was suffering from pancreatitis.

Ghosh won 12 national awards for his films some of which include Unishe April, Chokher Bali, Raincoat and Abohomaan.
His latest film Chitrangada won him a Special Jury award at the National Film Awards 2012. The film recently closed the Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival 2013.
Ghosh was working on Satyanweshi, based on the story ‘Chorabali’ by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, the author of the Byomkesh Bakshi detective series. Director Sujoy Ghosh (Kahaani) played the character of Byomkesh Bakshi.
“Wrapped up the shoot of Satyanewshi, a crime thriller in the molten glow of the pensive falling afternoon,” he had tweeted on May 28.
