Low-key domestic drama set during a turbulent period of Northern Ireland's history.

Most of this film is spent suggesting the inhabitants of Derry had ordinary concerns and lives during the upheaval of the early troubles in 1969. One would suppose that to be self-evident but here it's nicely evinced in terms of bread and birth-control. The script could have done with another polish, but the performances are fine and only the determination of non-tumultuous lives makes for a lack of pace.

Not as bad as its current rating (1.4) on IMDb suggests. Definitely worth a look.
