After eight hour long shows, bad ratings led ABC to order the show be cut in half, with the second half hour being made up of reruns of the Groovie Goolies. Then, after the 16th episode, the show was canceled mid-season. This meant that only 23 of the planned 30 cartoon segments were produced. Filmation still made a profit out of it because ABC had pay for the entire series, even though production stopped mid-way. Afterwards, ABC never ordered another series from Filmation ever again.
Not only did the character of Uncle Croc despise hosting his show, so did the man who played him, Charles Nelson Reilly. Also just like on the show, he and Jonathan Harris did not get along and used to park in each other's parking spaces.
Johnny Silver was the first actor to play the cute sidekick Mr. Rabbit Ears, but he actually looked very cute, which was not what the men in charge were looking for in a parody of a kid's show. Therefore he was replaced by Alfie Wise.
