After the lobby shootout, Neo and Trinity climb on top of the elevator car and clamp onto the lift cable. Neo then severs the cable from the elevator car, the car falls back to the lobby where the bomb explodes, and Neo/Trinity are hauled upwards by the counterweight. In actuality, because of the Otis safety brake, severing the cable would have resulted in the car locking in place in the shaft, never falling, and the bomb not detonating where intended.
There are no opening credits beyond the production logos and the title.
